And I wonder if even SpaceX were surprised by that. It always seemed to me that they only bid Starship for HLS for the attention it would get, not because they actually expected it to win out over the less-ambitious proposals from their rivals.

@Game Over I'm thinking that the version with all 28 engines on liftoff is meant for the far future when orbits past Mars are being established regularly. In those cases you could really use the huge acceleration in the first minutes to fling yourself further while still having a full fuel tank.

Another great video. Improvement: At the 5:26-27 mark you move from the graphic to your face before the viewer gets a chance to visually take in the "16 days" that are mentioned and cognitively process that information. If you're talking about a graphic or picture you should always match them with the verbalized script so that the viewer has sufficient time (a few seconds?) to mentally process both the aural and visual information before moving on.

Hi, Felix. your channel is very good. And let me tell you that when you started I didn't have many expectations. however today it is one of the best. The truth was not going to tell you this but when you said that if there was something we did not like, we would tell you about it, so just note in the comparison of the sn10 with the sn15. I would only put the sn10 on the left and the sn15 on the right. it is just a matter of order because of how we begin to read from left to right. It may be a small thing but for me it is very important haha. Thank you

One small suggestion before they launch people is to have at least one successful landing.
Yes, that would be a good thing - at least one successful landing first.

If you meant crew starship, their plan is to have at least hundreds of successful landings using cargo variant and making money doing it before even applying for manned flight licence. They probably launch successfully over 9000 of starlink satelites using starship before that.

Good info about what to expect. Hopefully SN15 can launch next week. Others and myself were curious why BN1 could be repurposed for a GSE tank or two instead of getting scrap. Thanks for all your work Felix. You rock!!

I 'feel' the orbital launch coming closer. Man o man, what a sight it will be to see the full stack fly upwards and then the two parts coming back in each their own unique way.

This company is fantastic. Just think how long ago (or not) we were only mulling over welding problems, now we're refineing and fine-tuning/tweaking. This thing makes Concorde look like a Bi-plane, so be patient! Best of luck SpaceX team!

"18 Possible launches this year". I have to disagree with this, there will be more. Because if SpaceX can nail the landings of Booster and Starship, they will start testing their turnaround capability, so expect a faster cadence for the launches. Keep up the excellent work, Also when do you hear about your bid for a Dear Moon seat?

I would like it a lot, if space x would sell parts of exploded/disassembled starships. They would just have to cut it in small pieces, put a nice packaging around them and put them up for sale. It really wouldn’t be too difficult and they could make a ton of money. We on the other hand would have a nice souvenir, that kind of proves, that we were there, when one of the most important inventions in space industry ever has been developed.

I can’t believe this NASA picked spacex for its human lander . Go starship and go space x . I would say personally it was the best decision they could have made and I thought they would have given it so blue origin as they had multiple companies involved with them .
Exciting days ahead for spacex can’t wait . Nice video btw keep them coming .

Thinking about it, the main point of the legs on the booster would be to absorb impact. When Musk says he wants the tower to 'catch' the booster I think a landing pad that has a bit of give in it could be what he means. If it were a grid pattern to permit thrust from the booster to pass through it and was on hydraulic rams 20ft high it could easily adjust for any imperfections on the rocket motors and provide a smooth catch. The tower could then be used to prevent tipping if necessary.
That seems like a much more plausible answer than catching the booster in mid-air - absorb the impact and restrain.
