hey! thx so much i really wanted to make my dear grandpa a winter hat! but i didnt know how to crochet or knit and then i saw my great grandmother crocheting and i really wanted to ask her to teach me, but she didnt know how to explain it and so i went to yt! i watched many tutorials and i might be ready to make a hat! also i needed a new hobby ;-;

How long should the chain measure out to? I’m personally not a huge fan of bulky yarn like this but I still want to give it a try
A good rule is from the crown of your head to your nose
You can use A "4". I make most of my hats using 4. They work up very nice.
Or - you can crochet from the outside end of the yarn ball or skein. No need to fiddle around to find the inside “guts” of the yarn. 🤣
