WHY I OFTEN DON'T MENTION OTHER BRANDS IN MY VIDEOS.
You may have noticed that I often don't mention the original brands that watches I am reviewing pay homage to. This is very intentional and not meant to offend you or the original brands. I lost my first channel in October 2020 which I had spent 9 months growing and invested a significant amount of money in simply because I had mentioned the original brands in some of my videos. There are people who try to use TH-cams lack of understanding when it comes to the difference between homage watches and fake watches to attack other channels and their owners and sadly I fell foul of this in 2020. This channel was also attacked recently and TH-cam deleted content simply because I had said 'subby homage' and 'Rolex homage' in two videos despite the watches in the videos being perfectly legal homage watches. Please understand that I can not afford to risk my channel so I will no longer be mentioning other brands when reviewing homage watches.

This is the first San Martin original that I really think looks great.
The beads if rice on this really amps up the vintage vibes. Love it!!!!
That's a damn good looking watch. It's probably the most interesting watch San Martin has come up with yet.
I like it! Very nice. I'd maybe only change the bezel to be a bit thinner and less imposing. Other than that it looks like they've done a great job. Beads of rice bracelet will put people off (myself included) but it suits the watch. Would look sweet on leather or rubber maybe
Cool watch, with a real unique, playful color scheme. Oh, and it's got a color-matched date wheel and it's at the 6!! This watch reminds me of the Islander Port Jefferson quite a bit, although that may just be a coincidence. I do think the orange seconds hand is a bit too much, though (dark blue bezel, light blue dial, cream chapter ring, red GMT hand, silver indicies and hands, AND an orange seconds hand); should've just kept that the same color as the other hour and minute hands.
With the way San Martin Makes their watch which is top notch quality, I think it would benefit them if they also do third party bracelets for seiko and other brands just like what strapcode is doing.
Absolutely love it. Just ordered. The beads of rice bracelet is an absolute winner!
I really like this one, but the colour combo is exactly the same as my Farer Carnegie! Good to see some more original designs from SM though. Maybe soon I'll find the one that inspires me to pull the trigger...
Excellent dimensions, great bit of originality, a fun color that isn't over the top and everything comes together rather nicely.

I trust your caliper my friend, 38.4 at the bezel is better for me than the 39.5 announced by San Martin. Just ordered the black dial version. I'm an old conservative when it comes to dial colors.

I have small wrists. Does the watch wear as small as the 38.4 in the Video promise?
@@davidmuller4749 Yes, you can buy it without worry. I measured 39.5 at the case but 38.5 at the bezel. Additionally, the polished chamfered edge that runs from lug to lug helps make the case appear smaller than it is. Finally, the beads of rice bracelet is more suitable for small wrists than an oyster

OK, I give them credit for trying an original design. But for me the bezel doesn't work with the rest. The bezel is dark blue with stark white numerals. The Dial is a sort of a teal or a turquoise with an off-white chapter ring. So the dark blue chashes with the teal and the stark white clashes with the off-white imo. It's worth noting you're going to have a hard time making a warranty claim for the clasp. At least San Martin will ask for a video the proves you actually know how to use this clasp or reversely, that the the clasp is actually faulty.
Beautiful watch, nice to see some original designs, I would have prefered the bezel to be the same colour as dial, to many colours here for me, bracelet looks fab!!
Great as the bezel is, there is little point to moving it as there are no 24hr markings on the dial or chapter ring.
Apart from this small niggle - theyve hit the ball out of the park. As you say, a great summer watch.
Hopefully the V2 will have the additional markings.

I actually really like this one, it reminds me of the Zodiac watches.
Perfect size for an average wrist, great case shape and dial design. The colours aren't my bag at all but perhaps San Martin offer it in other colours?
Looks like they have a black dial/black bezel colorway too, probably the way I would go.

the color combo isn't doing it for me. the teal and the bluezzy shade on the bezel somehow doesn't appeal to my philistine behind. the second hand and the gmt hands are spot-on though. the design looks great
Nice looking watch Gary but a bit expensive compared with the competition.
Over the last couple of years the quality has improved dramatically but the price has probably tripled.
Are they still really good value?
Could you put a leather band on it or will that not work with the way they designed that bracelet? Nato would work but just not sure if its going to accept a leather band without a sizable gap with the case.
I like it, I'd actually like to see an option of a non gmt version with a smooth dress bezel in place of the gmt bezel. That would give it a super vintage feel. But I do really like this and the different colors.
It's a very nice one Gary. I have the original Orange dial Seiko on my list as a Christmas pressie, and putting a sapphire crystal in it, but this could be an alternative option. 100m water resistance..same as the Seiko. I'd prefer the Seiko though if the price drops a bit but if not this is the one I'd likely go for. Excellent review as always!
I love a slightly mismatched colour palette, if done well, but the red details in this execution is just too jarring! They should have picked up the minuscule amount of green instead imo. Too bad, I could have used a summery GMT for my holiday 😕
Really nice looker. I especially like the shape of the case and the artistic way the bracelet connects. The colours are lovely too. All it needs for me is a display case back !

Thanks for the great review. I’m actually glad they are coming out with more original designs. They are also going to put out a three hand version of this watch. I own a SN045, and it’s one of my favorite watches. Yes it takes design elements from several famous Seiko’s, but it’s not a 1:1.

There is a lot to like here but...
The mismatched colours of the dial and bezel looks terrible. Maybe a neutral colour (black? White?) would've been better for the bezel insert, or even a plain brushed stainless one?
Not a huge fan of the outer ring of colour on the dial either 🤔. Love the case, the drilled lugs, the box crystal and the beads of rice bracelet though
Bezel size on the SN0116 Ali listing is "Dial Diameter: 39.5mm", so I'm really happy to see you measure it at 38.4mm. indicating this is indeed the SM 62mas case, which is 37mm, not 39mm.
This is definitely not the 62mas case. The lugs are a totally different shape, but like you, I'm glad it's smaller than they listed!

If it had a 9075 and slimmed down a bit, I'd be buying one right now. No interest in the NH34, personally.
Nice review. I was disappointed by the lume when I first got mine but looking how thin and refined the hands and indices are its no surprise. Yes the lume is not SM standard but it'll make an awesome summer day watch, I'll use my other torches watches for night time😅

I spent about 24 hours with this exact watch in my cart before changing my mind for the pseudo Helm homage. After seeing how good this still looks when filmed by someone other than Sam Martin I think I may have to pull the trigger on this as well. Gary, I'm sending your email address to my wife so she can be mad at you as well when the second watch in a week arrives.
Nice looking design that doesn't scream clomage. I could forgo slight less perfect finishing if they could get the clasp operation correct. NH34 is winning the battles at the moment but I think Miyota 9075 will win the war.
I like the case shape and bracelet. Perhaps can be shrunk to 35-36mm for future SM dress/sports watch designs.

I’ve got this in black, great watch but my bezel alignment is a little off the 14 and the 24 are a little bit to the left. Not a big deal just a bit annoying.

Nice overall package, it would be better to have a few more colours, the black looks a bit flat compared to this but the teal wouldn't suit me.
It's not for me but this is actually a well designed watch (not like some monstrosities from the past). Hope they continue making original designs.

They should use Orange and Turquoise GMT Bezel.
Well I've just picked up a Steeldive 1993 Sub with NH34 on a jubilee for 107$ (vat included), so I would debate if the SM here is the best affordable GMT now. It's a different price bracket, but to me Steeldive is now the king of ultimate affordable NH34🙂
With that said, kudos to SM for coming up with such a coherent original design! Well done SM!

One thing I hate the look is when the clasp is twice as thick than the bracelets.
Can't say the colours work, otherwise the style & dimensions are on point.

I think I detect a slight whiff of Christopher Ward in the dial department - the indices and that date at the 6oc remind me a little bit of their dials, but this one looks original enough, IMO. The colorway is quite funky, although I don't think I'd be brave enough to order something like that sight unseen. I might love it "in the flesh" or I might hate it... not sure which it would be. But then again: If you are going to get this watch, how could you go with its much more subdued looking black cousin and not with this "Caribbean Holiday" colorway?

I don't think San Martin will ever be successful at making and selling original designs. For one thing, it is extremely hard to do! Making a new original design that hasn't already been done is not easy. Most "new" watches today are based on some previous design. It's hard to break through all the noise and create something new and fresh. Most popular watches are based on hype anyway. Have some popular celebrity or athlete wearing your watch. Zelo's I guess has broken out and made a name for themselves but their designs aren't that unique and their business model is based on very limited production to create demand. I think San Martin should just stick to what they do best, making the best homage watches out there.
