Watching the slip arc and the ova before watching through the shogun assassination and onwards is like a double edged sword. You won’t have to wait after the rakyou arc but you won’t have a chance to take a breather. You’re probably the first to watch gintama in this order, and I do love your reactions. The eyes of Gintoki at the begining of the chapter 308 are the eyes of someone who get to know the best person in the world (Shouyo and Shigeshige) twice and both times he felt like he failed to save him.
My personal top 1 Gintama arc, this one is just amazing and really shows Sorachi’s writing chops. Being able to do three consecutive major arcs without showing writing fatigue is a rare skill among mangaka. That can only come from genuinely enjoying the work you do
It was so painful seeing the events at the beginning of this arc happen but oh god. Even with the comedic scenes especially with Elizabeth and Shimaru fighting for sign supremacy wasn't enough to soothe the heart....
