I culled fallow in South Oxfordshire, UK, for 20 years until I retired 3 years ago. 1000+ to my rifle in that period. Nice to see how others do it, I just wince every time an unmoderated rifle goes off. We always used moderators, less recoil and kinder on the ears. Also did not alert every deer in the parish. I realised eventually that taking out the big ones in the rut was leading to smaller animals in general, so I stopped shooting them. Others did not, of course, but that's up to them. I never really understood the obsession with antlers and the meat was rank. I left them to it, plenty of prickets around and doe season starts just after the rut anyway. None of this is a criticism, just passing on my experiences. Good memories, I'm well past my best now. A job for younger fitter men.
Loved the video of all the different animals. It is great just to watch them in their own environment. Awesome that you youngster could go with you and enjoy the thrill of the hunt. Top job Nathan.
Mate your a legend, crackin bucks for both your young fella and Rod, I had to miss out this years rut but this helped ease the sorrows of that, you’ve definitely had an big impact on the oz hunting community, it’s crazy the amount of people I’ve come across an have a yarn about you!
Fantastic hunt Nathan, I'm Ben and I'm 15 years old. I just got my first buck. originally I thought he was a spiker, but he turned out to be a hummel buck (A buck that can't grow antlers because of genetics or environmental conditions)
Sorry, that was me shooting. My little boy is only 6yr old and he's not old enough to fire a rifle in my state. Let alone my ultralight 30-06. Poor little guy would never get on a gun again if I let him swing off that 😩
Best vid ever Nathan . thanks 🙏 I thoroughly enjoyed it! Reminds me of my trips away with my son. We started deer stalking when he was 10. He turned 29 last week and lives full time in the UK. We will re-visit our strongest bonding adventures again before I drop off the perch.
I'm always hunting pigs mate. Does that means a video. Maybe, maybe not. I hunt more than I film and get pulled all over by what people want to watch. Can sadly only do so much.
You're the king! I'm an aussie living in Ireland 20 years. The KFC here is rubbish, so I don't bother. It's like comparing bondi to a rocky beach in Greenland. But I had some a few days ago in honour of your work. I miss the sounds of the aussie Bush, thanks for reminding me!
Ok as long as Rodney has exploding rabbits, fox, little piglets I'll sub to his channel lol, nice buck Rodney pick up see ya in the next one✌️ Napa California
That is some beautiful country there brother. I like the chocolate look on those bucks very much. Very nice trophies! Glad your little fella is liking it so much and good on you for taking him out. Do you ever get out after water buff at all?
Am surprised you two can actually focus long enough to shoot anything with the jokes, PTP and banter flowing thick n fast !! hahahaha PS didn't see the KFC advert this time......
Love seeing these deer hunts from over in the States. Keep up the great work! I was curious though as to how the first stag’s antlers came off like they did. Did y’all cut them off, or did he end up shedding them after the shot?
Just a wonder how did you get the antlers off the deer I’m going to try and get a deer over the school holidays and hoping to get a few antlers for a caller
Always enjoy the episodes! Not a big hunter myself but it’s good to see your young fella getting out there with sustainable shooting and pest control! Do KFC sponsor you? Hahaha Good work keep it coming.
@@EDGEoftheOUTBACK that's all good mate, thank you so much for the reply,I appreciate it immensely! Yeah they're definitely a nuisance down here,I know one bloke who totalled his car all because a buck jumped out. He was very lucky to get outta that unscathed but the car was a total write off.
Hey Nathan, I'll be arriving in Brisbane 11 Nov, finally! Woohooo! Trying to plan my first hunt with local friends since I won't have my licenses, or rifles, yet. Any advice on which State Park/Public Land in NE NSW for these fallows?
We DONT have new hunters if we show our children how its done. Saftey , ethical hunts, my dad took me when I was about 7 small game hunting . Rabbits ,quail pheasants squirrel and other game . My first gun was a pop gun no bullets or shot. But I learned quick. At 10 we can hunt here with adults.
@@EDGEoftheOUTBACK cool thanks i was just checking as a friends property has quite a few deer on it and we weren't sure of regulations so they are like foxes and other introduced species thanks for the reply also love watching the vids
Just check in your state. Technically they are not classed as invasive like foxes and pigs. The "game" status is paused in NSW. Has been since the drought, no need for a game licence etc. Normally there is a requirement.
As much as I thoroughly enjoy these informative videos, as a farmer, I will never understand why so many hunters will go out and peg all the pigs, bunnies and foxes they can, but when it comes to feral deer, most are not shot and only the trophy bucks are taken.
That's up to property owner discretion. Some blocks are different to others and they want them all shot. This area deer are harvested for consumption but we can take what we can use or has a trophy value.
You're a good pal and a good dad too. Passing on our skills to the kids is the *best* thing we can do as adults.
Absolutely 👌
Great vid, nice bucks taken enjoyed this one immensely, thanks for taking us along.
Appreciate it Hank
Best idea ever guys, follow you both, great job.
Fantastic Video as always. Great Hunt, Good Mates and great memories.
Thanks 👍

great job
Thanks mate 👌
Nice work guys

Hey mate, what is that caller you've got around your neck at 10:09 mark? did flexmark outdoors make a fallow deer caller aswell?
That's the sambar call. I just carry it to pull up an animal if it runs off. Still stops a fallow more often than not.
Great seeing the kids out doing this instead of inside on the iPad. My little girl is asking me to take her away looking for deers now
That's awesome mate, get that kid out !!!
Good on you sir, congrats
Cheers Aaron
Congrats nice trophies
Thanks mate
30-06 takes no prisoners.
On either end 😂
Absolutely mine does as its a genuine 7lbs loaded weight 😩
My limit is about 30 foot pounds, over that and I don't overly enjoy the experience 😂
That looks great, I only really chased pig's up north qld. Would love to have the chance to chase the bucks like that, I bet the adrenaline going 👍
A great experience, especially in close.
Good video and solid decision on holding off kids faces on internet.

Love seeing these deer hunts from over in the States. Keep up the great work!
I was curious though as to how the first stag’s antlers came off like they did. Did y’all cut them off, or did he end up shedding them after the shot?
Thanks mate, we cut them off with a saw. Only have so much wall space, Rod kept the bigger set as a euro mount though.
Just a wonder how did you get the antlers off the deer I’m going to try and get a deer over the school holidays and hoping to get a few antlers for a caller
Deer antlers aren't horns, they are grown from velvet and need to be sawn off.
Something a bit different but great work again
Thanks!
my friend shot a 18 pointer last weekend it was HUGE
That's awesome 👌
Loved the video Nathan. Just wondering what calibre is the young fella shooting? And congratulate him from me, cheers
No Mark. He's way to young to shoot, I was on the gun mate. He's only 6 😳
Reeeeet!
skeeeeeeet
Nathan what do you mean by dogwood? love your work
Thanks Peter. Dogwood is a thick bush that deer seem to love hidden amongst.
Always enjoy the episodes!

If only they would 😩😩😩

Hey mate quick question but have you hunted in the Illawarra & if so have you shot deer or any feral pig that way.
No mate I don't hunt anywhere near there. Sorry. Thousands of deer about that is a guarantee down there.

Any advice on which State Park/Public Land in NE NSW for these fallows?
Sorry Kelly I haven't hunted any public land in a few years. At lot of fallow bucks will have cast off antlers by this time of year.
You should've taken the 6.5 PRC that would've been a blast
Except the part where we would have to carry the heavy bloody thing 😩
👍
Whats the go with the 'can'?? is old mate a pro shooter?
We both are mate. That's how we have access to this area.
We DONT have new hunters if we show our children how its done. Saftey , ethical hunts, my dad took me when I was about 7 small game hunting . Rabbits ,quail pheasants squirrel and other game .

What was the price range for the Tikka I'm looking to buy one myself?
Also what model is it?
It's a custom tikka T3X mate. You can't buy the CF stock this is fitted in anymore.
is there a season on deer or are the a take anytime pest species
Currently the game status is paused. No limits or season.

I'm jealous. Is the meat on the bucks worth eating or are they a bit tough and stinky in the rut?
I don't eat them in the rut. Some do but it's definitely not too my taste.
How are you allowed a suppressor??
They are hugely restricted in NSW. But under permit, certain people can (Rod is one of those people, I am now too as of today 😬).
1st deer taken , bullet and caliber?
Rod's first deer was with his 308win. I think it was OSA 135gr ammo.
