I am in the stages of getting approved for total shoulder replacements (both.) We got held up on the MRI Scan request: I indicated that I had had a brain tumor removed when I was three years old. Diagnostic Imaging "refused" to proceed w/out an X-ray of my skull to rule out metallic implants. I assured them that I have NONE, -but, -their rules. GUESS WHAT!? I have two 'metal clipps' in my brain tissue that would have reacted badly under MRI. So, I am currently scheduled for an intense Ultrasound Exam to get the information the surgeon requires to determine anatomic or reverse.
People, -ALWAYS disclose FULL medical history. Leave nothing out. You don't know what is important for the surgeon and the procedure.
For over 55+ years I have had NO IDEA that I had metal implants in my brain tissue. So, -soon! Soon!
