  • This week is the final video in the series of the Lister Q type restoration!
I managed to muster up some time here and there and push to get it finished!
I’m really pleased with how it has turned out and how it looks and very happy with how it runs! There are a few small jobs to fettle but these will get done in due course. I’m hoping that the water leaks in the head will settle down once it has had a really good run over a weekend at a rally as I would say it has never had any water in since been welded so hoping it will naturally rust/block up from the inside stopping the leaks!
At the end of the video the engine had been running for around 2 1/2 hours faultlessly after a fair bit of fettling here and there to work out where it was happy to run.
I hope you enjoyed this one. If you did, please don’t forget to give it a like, comment and don’t forget overall to subscribe to be notified of the upcoming content that is posted over the next few weeks!
    Tarra! Lee

Another good video Lee 👍 the engine looks to be very fussy about its carb settings when first started 🤔👌

Thank you Bob! Yes it’s a little finicky when first starting up to get it set right, the P is the same to be honest. Till they get a bit of speed built up they can be a pain

That sounds sweet, and runs lovely. Nice job Lee 👍
I'm the sort of person who would restore a thing like that to look as new from the factory, I think you prefer the aged look?
    Cheers Ian

Thank you Ian, it certainly does run well!
I’m a great believer of if the engine is original, leave it original. It has taken 104 years for that engine to look that way and it is totally unique compared to any other in the world, yet if it is painted, it looks just like any other painted engine within a matter of minutes,. It’s always such a shame when something original is restored as it’ll never look like it did ever again!

It is a bit of a conundrum! I volunteer on a 121 year old steam boat (the Daniel Adamson) and it looks nothing like it was when first built, new paint, new boiler, new hull, wheelhouse etc. Triggers broom! 😁

Yes something like that to keep it operational is a must. But something like this where cosmetics don’t have any impact on its operational use I prefer to leave them as they are

    Whats that clunky noise Lee?

The small end is a little noisy. It doesn’t help it hasn’t been run much and rebuilt it fairly dry internally. I have since run it for a decent period and the noise has calmed down a little and generally in person it never sounds as bad, microphones tend to make it sound much worse than what it actually is

Got them all running g well, fantastic effort. Good choice on the mixed colour block paving, oil spots aren’t so obvious.😂

Thanks fella! Great to meet too!
Yes! I must admit, they do blend in well…. Yet it wasn’t intentional 🤣
