This is wisdom. How many good bands or musicians have you played with that ruined the band or gig because they were just jerks. I'd rather play with a " decent " musician that's a nice person, than " great" musician with no personality or humility. Also, if the audience has a great time, you've just become a better performer.
This is all great advice. Especially the interpersonal skills. The baddest dudes I play with are extremely humble, easy to work with, and fun to hang out with. Know your stuff musically, learn how to talk to and genuinely engage people, and don’t be a difficult di*k. If you do those things you’re going to get work.
Boy I hope this is true. I'm 1yr I to becoming a Professional Bass Player. I've been playing for my church over half a year, I want to start gigging in Spring either solo and/or with a band, and I'd like to finish writing a few of my song ideas.

My friend has a fat face, he grew a long beard and now he looks skinny
