  • Matatus are a common feature on Kenyan roads. Approximately 80% of the Kenyan population uses this mode of transportation. Matatu which means 'three' in Swahili, Kenya's national language is not just a means of transport but also a culture and a way of life which highlights different societal issues.
Meet a matatu driver and an artist who have have different yet interesting perspective on Matatu. Quite a phenomenon.

This media wants to enslave our people forever! Tax the driver/owner, but NO the systemic tools are to stress, detain, delay progress with fees & discouragements! Provide better infrastructure & stop trying to weaken the next generation under the enemy rule!

Suggestion: Public transport should have their own lane which is accessable during rush hours. Kitu6-10 then 15-21. These lanes are free from other automobiles, this makes it easier for those suing public transport and i think this may lead to people leaving their vehicles at home those less pollution too. This is a win win situation to all.

LYCY JERI that's the rules here in U.K. . From 7-10 and 16-19 there is a bus lane and for taxi and motor bikes only for those specific hours in between all vehicles are you allowed . And there is cameras on those lane . But then again it takes discipline and also requires that the vehicle are all in a database that can be traced, I think unless Kenya get help this problem will continue which is a shame considering how much money they lose and traffic jam that can be avoided.

Kenyan government just need to build good roads system in Nairobi and the surrounding areas and there will be no need of taking out out the Matatu. Matatu is one of the job creation for many youth and it is very stupid to think of as dangerous. The government fails to do its job of improving infrastructure in Nairobi. Build the damn roads and levels Matatu alone.

🇨🇳🇨🇳🇨🇳🇨🇳🇨🇳 politics! Politics Criminalize "matatu" livelihoods with fees & violations TO OPPRESS THE SUCCESS! LET THE PEOPLE DECIDE WHAT THEY RIDE & UPDATE GOVERNMENTALLANES & TRAFFIC SIGNALS! ALWAYS DESTROYING & DISCREDITING OUR GENIUSES, TO THEN TURN AROUND & COPYCAT THE IDEA!

+Nelson K. no you are wrong.. do research on swahili and where it came from.. actually Swahili came from Bantu languages and Arabic so I'm wondering why you are saying that Kikuyu borrowed from Swahili and Kikuyu was there before Swahili came.

    • @mrnajah2000

+Lilian Muiruri In language it doesn't matter which came first.learning or copying can be either way.Even English sometimes learns from Kiswahili.however you could also be right. What pisses me off is kyuks putting claim to everything, whether rightfully or otherwise, even when it matters little.
