yes, thank you... overpowered characters are not the reason why they or/and the story is boring, it's the fault of the writer... you can have a very weak villain and still have a fantastic story if done right
I used to be a Superman hater. But then I realized Superman was less a story about a man with godlike powers, and more a story about a god trying to be a man.
When you have a very powerful character like Superman, somewhat ironically it becomes very difficult to write challenges for him. I think the very best Superman stories are when his powers aren't able to resolve the situation. It is the writers that make the characters good. This is also why we don't have many Superman games because it is very difficult to design challenges that can take on the Man of Steel from both the developers' and the player's minds. This is why Batman is far easier to write for because he is only human, fighting against threats that are many times way above his ability, but still able to come through with his wits. Main issue with the DCEU is that they didn't portray Superman's heart. He may be an alien, but his heart is one of the most human out of the Justice League according to Batman in the comics. Instead, the Justice League movie focused almost entirely on his powers and bringing him back. He completely outstripped the rest of the league as the moment he showed up, (saves more people than the Flash, defeats the big bad faster than Wonder Woman and Aquaman were struggling against in a 2v1 fight, pulls the Mother Boxes apart easily when Cyborg was struggling, etc.) all the conflict was near instantly resolved when Clark arrived.
I feel personally that the reason more people think that way about batman and superman has to do with the fact that batman has a greater number of great stories and its easier and more frequent to have a well written batman than a well written superman. For every all star superman, there r 2 or 3 good batman stories
Yes and no just because in the Mahwah comic books from the Chinese and the Koreans those guys are overpowered from chapter one and they stay overpowered until like chapter 750. There are times where they may have some difficulty but at the end of the day they'll just meditate or a pill and then just overpower whatever foe was in their way.
with superman i feel the best stories where superman is in, are when he is vulnerable. However, what DC fans want is silver age superman where he sneezes solar systems away. If that version of superman fought all these villains it would be so boring. So that's why the new 52 superman is amazing. There are exceptions of course, all-star superman is amazing, and people always reference how powerful superman is in that story, but that isn't the reason that story is so good. It's because Superman is dying, and Lex Luthor has that fantastic scene of realisation at the end that Superman is just another human beneath his exterior, and that Lex could have saved the world if he wasn't that fixated on him.

I agree which is why One punch man’s story interests me more than DC’s Superman.

I think with the superman thing. It’s hard for heroes to team up with superman to defeat a villain. Cause they are no Match for him
