Just the fact that syncthing let's you ignore files with patterns like git does is really useful for projects that store local files in project folders like Android Studio does and that makes it superior to Dropbox already

Is there a setting for syncing from phone to computer but then later being able to delete a file on the phone but have it remaining on the synced folder?
The only problem with syncthing is that it doesn't have SD card support on android, which makes it a deal breaker for me. If anyone has that problem, the only alternative is resilio sync
Actually all >= 6.0 phones allow you to do so via adb. For example I've got an LG K8 which by default doesn't let you to reformat the SD as internal storage, but if you hook it to your PC and execute a couple of adb commands, you'll be all set. It helped me a lot. The only problem is that apps load slow as fuck when moved to the SD, but it's fine for smaller ones.
Did you try manually deleting the conflict files that syncthing generates? If that doesn't work, it usually works to just temporarily remove and readd a folder to syncthing.
well I stopped using it and I don't have the server I used syncthing with anymore so I can't try it right now although it would probably have worked. Even though I had problems with it I find syncthing really great because It works over the internet without having to mess with ports, domain name pointing to local address, keys and such
only thing i wish i would know if it uploads my files from phone through wan, or lan, if both devices are on same netwrok.. im only getting half the upload speed on syncthing (27mb/s) compared to 50+ on Resilio sync
How does it compare to resillo sync? I've been using it for some time and it works quite well between my phone and linux client. On windows it's unstable, I've to keep re-launching either the phone client or the windows client for them to sync up.
thanks for showing it, but putting dprobox and google drive logos on the thumbnail is a bit misleading - it's local, not cloud EDIT: oh I get it, it assumes that people use these services just to sync files across devices...
HI. Very nice video. Just one question. How does Android work with this? I have tried installing the app on my phone, sharing a folder from my pc, but the phone didn't sync. At the same time, I was unfortunately able to delete all the files on my pc, changing something in the folder on my phone. Basically my pc does sync, my phone doesn't. Have you got any tips?
You should get a notification on your phone asking about the proposed folder; it doesnt pop up in app though, you have to look at notifications. Then from there should be smooth sailing
what happen when there is a server down on cloud storage ? i am able to upload my files . but unable to open the files n also unable download the files i am using degoo cloud storage if anybody know then please tell what to do i'am so much worried about it.
Damn, those ranger icons are great, are those changes already in the dotfiles repo? Also, been using Syncthing for 4 years now, probably one of my favorite pieces of software ever.
nice idea but at least on my samsung s7 with Android 8.0.0 it cannot add a single folder due to "folder mark missing". might be because of mounting on android. couldn't find a working solution. too bad.
Thanks, I don't think the sync works both ways on Android 9.. could you recommend a nice local hosting company for shared web hosting? Years ago I used interserver... I'm back to be a self starting aspiring entrepreneur with little to no IT skills
So I'm guessing that it doesn't sync if you are on different wifi networks? If you have a vps and connect to it then would you be able to sync with it remotely?
As Luke said, there's no requirement for devices to be on the same local network. By default it transfers data between devices via public 'relays', which are end-to-end encrypted. Some may not be fond of this, even with encryption, so relays can be disabled in settings, in which case they can only connect on the same local network.
Yeah it kinda is. However, all LE EPIC HAXX0R TROLLS XD could really do is send requests to sync folders, which is more of an annoyance than a security risk. Worst case scenario he could reinstall Syncthing, which would generate a new ID.
The following items could not be synchronized. They are retried automatically and will be synced when the error is resolved. are there certain characters not allowed?
See when he opened the "Edit" window around 06:00 ? In the "Folder type" category you can set it to be "send only", "recieve only" or "send & recieve" if you want. This is open source software boy, of course people thought about it.
