As a baby-boomer brought up Christian, this song kept me in remembrance of God in my life during the swinging sixties and the free-loving seventies. There were many memorable Christian songs during those decades, but this one always comes to mind. Back with the Lord now, praying for the nations to return to the foot of The Cross.

This is an old song. I've heard it since I was in Jr high and I'm 51 now. There's a singer who used to be in another old rock band called grand funk railroad. His name is mark Farner. When I turned my life over to God, I had already been going to a Christian Church for like 5 or 6 months. One day at work for a water company here in San Antonio, I was going from Somerset TX to Bulverde TX. On the way I decided to check k-love, a Christian radio station for those who don't know. About 10 minutes into it they played a song from Mark Farner who was a Christian already. This was back in 2001. The song is called isn't it amazing. That song tore me up
I started crying and felt a huge relief that I had never felt before. I gave my life and heart to God at that moment and haven't looked back since then, unless I'm ministering to someone and need to give a testimony or example of my previous life to make a point. If you haven't heard that song, look it up. Isn't it amazing by mark Farner. I would love to see the reaction video. Tell me what you think MRM ,my friend. Have a good night.

Grew up on this song... It's the original. It played on regular radio. It was a huge hit. Doobie Brothers was a great fav! "Listen to the Music", or "China Grove", "What A Fool Believes"... So good! Yep, brings me back to my teenage surfin days... Lovin the throw backs! When they did Jesus Is Just Alright With Me... No one complained. We were really stoked they came up with a song of Jesus. We rocked the concert just the same, or more when they'd play it. When I saw them at 16...they played this as an encore. Insane, outdoors, fairgrounds by the beach, everyone dancing in the sun, singing along. Ahhh good memories 🎼✝️ 💞🙇‍♀️🙏

This fantastic song came out when I was a little girl and I loved it. My brother and I would dance to it! It was the 70’s so there was a lot of flack about the song but if you listen to it, it’s extremely positive. It came out around the same time Jesus Christ Superstar was released and young people were really motivated to search for their own spirituality. I have seen the Doobie Brothers live and they are beyond spectacular! The music is undeniably great, everyone is having a good time, and you leave feeling so happy! They are a one of a kind band. If you ever get the chance to see them, please do! You regret it for a single second!

Alright! An oldie and a goodie from the Doobie Brothers. One of my favorites from them from the 70’s. They are the only band I have ever heard perform it. I saw them in concert in Memphis, TN in the 70’s and in Paducah, KY in the early 2000’s. As far as I know they are still touring. Any song about Jesus is alright with me as long as it lifts Him up!! My sons used to listen to DC Talk, “Jesus Freak” in the 90’s and Kirk Franklin. We used to dance in the spirit to some of the music because it made us feel joyful. I know, some are gonna say, I’m going to hell. In the words of this song...I don’t care what they may say, I don’t care what they may do! I am secure in my faith and my salvation! In all things, Praise Jesus!

"Jesus Is Just Alright" is a gospel song written by Arthur Reid Reynolds and first recorded by Reynolds' own group, The Art Reynolds Singers, on their 1966 album, Tellin' It Like It Is.
The song's title makes use of the American slang term "all-right", which during the 1960s was used to describe something that was considered 'cool' or very good. The song has been covered by a number of bands and artists over the years, including The Byrds, Underground Sunshine, The Doobie Brothers, Alexis Korner, The Ventures, DC Talk, Stryper, Shelagh McDonald, and Robert Randolph. Probably the most famous versions of this song is the cover done by the Doobie Brothers in 1972.

If I remember correctly, it was on the same recording with "Black Water" on the "Rockin' Down the Highway" album. Of course, this was way way way back in the day when Michael McDonald was on keyboards (and the "draw" for ALL of us girls). On a sidenote: There was a sitcom on in the 70s called What's Happeningand the Doobie's made an appearance on the show and sang "Black Water".

On the juke box every day at lunch in the Seneca High cafeteria. Friday night dances after Football home games. Spending babysitting earnings on vinyl to play on my little bitty stereo. 8 track tapes!! Making your own mixtape cassettes on Sunday afternoon while Casey Casum counted down the Weeks Top 50. The song is not original Doobie Brothers; it's a good cover. Original by the Art Reynolds Singers 1966.

I saw them in concert back in the early eighties and probably in my top 5 of best concerts I’ve been to!

1st concert I ever went to was the Doobie Brothers. It was their Minute by Minute tour. It was awesome. Lots of doobie in the air, though.

santellanr Ha! I remember when a group of us went to go see them in the early eighties and when we went to pick up one of my friends at her house, her mom asked us what concert we were going to. When we told her she said “That’s nice that brothers have a band together”. We left as fast as we could before we started laughing! 😂

Psalms 150 1 Praise the LORD.Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens.
2 Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness.
3 Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre,
4 praise him with timbrel and dancing, praise him with the strings and pipe,
5 praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals.
6 Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD.

Awesome! What a lot of religious minded people fail to understand is that the scriptures you presented here was way before there was a label called "Christian" music. Heck the music we sing at our church was considered "secular" or "contemporary" all because it didn't come out of a hymn book. People really need to understand that not every song is going to sound like hymns. This is what religion and not relationship has taught a lot of churches.

Only heard this song sung by The Doobie Brothers, but it's an excellent one! I don't think Jesus nor GOD would have a problem with it! And if they wouldn't have a problem with it, do we really need to listen to anybody else's opinion?! 🙂

Hilarious “blasphemy!” imitation, Ty. I like the image of kids playing to this! Awesome. This was a veritable choir singing - 6 guys at least. I saw them do this live in Cincinnati, 1975, it was great.

You really need to check out Billy Preston's That's the Way God Planned It - one of the best gospel/rock songs ever made - and it has an all-star band (Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, Ginger Baker, George Harrison)
