I love those snippets you played, It's great when the vinyl community introduces you to something that you would have never heard otherwise. Even if it is from your homeland!

I came across Folque about two years ago. They have probably been one of my most listen to bands ever since. Lovely lyrics with roots reaching far back, and amazing instrumental as well. They have led me to discover a lot more Norwegian or Scandinavian folk gems, like Kong Lavring, Ro.t, Harald Foss, Faunan and Folk & Rackare.

@@Hyvelez It is a lovely album and with surprisingly heavy sounding guitars! Been on my turntable for days now. Thank you for the suggestions and for watching! 😊

Hi Morten!!! I think that's one of the best reasons why most of us watch other VC channels, not just to see "black wax" but to discover newer or old bands that for some reason passed us by..... to me that's the coolest thing, but then i realize i have another band discography to add to the collection and sometimes they're big catalogues or expensive, lol..... Those spippets you palyed sounded very good and glad to see it now in your music room, enjoy!!! cheers and be well

@@cristianosorio2517 Thank you Cristian. Yes, very much a joy for me as well, but self control I don’t have in this avenue of life, and it does get expensive… get? IS! Mind you, I found new music before as well I suppose

Hey Morten. Great to see you embracing your Scandinavian roots. You were certainly more successful than me in explaining the music and the band, and thanks for setting me straight on the pronunciation of hardingfele.
How amazing that it was your local record shop who reissued the album I now have.
Maybe I'll have to do a video about Scandinavian twee pop from the early 2000s. But they all sing in English.
    Cheers - Hedley

Yeah, awesome as Big Dipper are I still didn’t connect the dots until I saw the album hanging in THEIR window! 😄
Here’s a Norwegian band who tried to hit it big over in the UK. Libido. Killing Some Dead Time came out in 1998 and got some good press in the UK. They began recording a 2nd album but everything fell apart.
Or perhaps the all girl Norwegian band The Tuesdays? 😊

Hi Morten. The Folque album cover looks familiar to me, but I've never heard them before. They sound like they'd fit very nicely into the sixties/seventies folk revival. I'm now a fan so thanks to you and Headley for that. Interesting what you were saying about Scandanavian music. I have quite a lot in my collection but the majority sing in English. Cheers Mike

Hope you enjoyed my rejse (journey) into Scandivegian. Cheers Morten

The sample you played definitely had a bit of a Fairport Convention vibe. Guitars were a bit heavier though. I love the cover photo too. It looks like from another time. Interesting!

@@benrankins4446 It really is. Those buildings were built in the early 1800’s. A couple of them, like this one, were moved to the open air museum, the rest torn down some 10-15 years before this photo and replaced by the high rise apartmentblocks I added in my thumbnail.
I was thinking that, the guitars are heavier 😊

Wonderful band! Got into them many years ago and got their first 3 albums on CD - then got the first album when it was rereleased on vinyl a few years ago by Round 2. Wish Round 2 had done the other albums too. To me they were the Norwegian Steeleye Span (who are big favourites of mine). Scandinavia has and continues to produce some of the best music around in various genres especially prog, jazz-fusion, psych and space rock - therefore there is absolutely no reason to be ashamed or defensive of it. I've shown a lot of Scandinavian music in my videos as has Richard (the Vinylizing Progger - a Norwegian himself) and John Bellamy - we're all big fans of Scandinavian music.
If you want more modern Scandinavian roots music try bands like Garmana, Hedningarna, Hoven Droven, Varttina and Varda - all who have produced excellent albums. Cheers... Pete

@@soundsfromthewestcoast9939 Thank you for you excellent comment Pete. Yes, more please Round 2.
I didn’t mean I was ashamed of it, more my lackluster knowledge of it, and up through the years, specifically music from Denmark, or Danish in general, having to defend it, mostly from Norwegians and Swedes who love making fun of it, and sort of by extension, me. "Ha ha, you sound like you speak with a potato in your mouth!» Yeah well, Norwegian is just a Danish dialect I counter and all hell breaks lose 😄 …and I also offend myself 😂
Thank you again for watching and commenting, appreciate it!
      Cheers from Morten

Their number one song on Spotify is Reinlender, which is a really pretty instrumental . I started the album it came from, their first, and there is a singer with a very nice voice. I’m digging this. Your vinyl is very nice. I looked that up on Amazon and EBay and it’s about $25 with shipping for the cd. I didn’t see any of their others. I appreciate the clips you added. Ha - I jumped the gun and went to Spotify before your clip.
