Was born in 1950 so never knew about any of these kinds of very big diesel engines and what they were used for very interesting video thanks so much showing how much effort went into getting that massive diesel engine to start!
It runs at the speed my vehicle's engine idles. The engine will probably never go bad if properly maintained. The slow rolling engine never gets stressed.
so you say it's two-stroke, but if you look at 10:27 it sounds like it's firing every OTHER revolution, which would make it four stroke. Correct me if I'm wrong
It is a V6. That is the left cylinder head for three of the pistons if looking at it from the front of the engine. The other side of the engine also has a mirror image cylinder head for three more pistons. All V engines rather look like that. A V8 would have four pistons under one cylinder head per each side. If it was an inline engine, like an inline 4, or inline 6, the cylinder head is usually on top of the engine and it covers all six cylinders with a, single long cylinder head.
It is a V6, but yes it is laying on its side. All 6 cylinders are facing to the left, but 3 are facing above horizontal and 3 are facing below horizontal
It needs to be tied down solid somehow. Couple of times I saw him try to give it a little throttle, and she starts rocking and rolling it’s kind of scary! Like it’s just sitting on the uneven dirt floor
In the opening shot, the operator is wearing a tuque. I'm thinking to myself, Man, if he straightens up any taller, he's gonna lose that tuque. Next time we see him, the tuque is gone.
An engine that large would probably have a damper in the air intake that could be shut off. However, it looks like the engine is missing the exhaust. Thus, it is probably missing the air intake tube as well.
It kind of looks like the guy has a rat infestation and he's trying to give them an eviction notice.. but cool motor can someone imagine what that would look like with a giant turbocharger on it???
Why don't you people fuck off with your stupid OSHA, PPE, safety glasses bullshit. You think these people don't know what they're doing, yet you, who have done nothing somehow know better?
@@ctiley2212 No one had to insult you...You came off looking as if you were attempting to sound as if you knew what you were talking about...I'm sorry, but it didn't work.

Thank you for all the comments, would you be interested in more videos of old, large, heavy smoky engines and rare tractors?
EZ to find !!!!! Just Google Harley Davidson !!!😄😄😄😄😄😄😎😎😎😎😎🍺🍺🍺🍺
hell yes. yes please Mr. Lehman
Absolutely 💯
Show us all your treasures
Hell yes!

I didn’t know Page made one that big. A running two cylinder is on display at Midwest old threshers reunion.
Look likes well ventilated area 😂😂. That thing is awesome 👍🏼
It needs some good old Aussie spray called "Start ya bastard"
I thought that was panther piss
A V-6 diesel engine that size certainly is very impressive!
Looked like a generator hooked to it in the beginning. It was and is a monster either way!
Big ole diesel/electric just like freight train engines.
Did it actually start? Couldn't tell.
It does start up around 2 minutes into the video. A little rough at first but smoothes out after a bit
@@RoscoeQuadMan No, it tries to catch several times but never actually starts, the only thing running is the starting air compressor.
You should have a "smoking is bad for your health" sticker on it. Takes a while to get those cylinders heated up enough for it to start.
Almost sounds like the old hit-n- miss engines!
Be great to see that engine at a show again.
Would go down well at a climate protest!
PAmining has a documentary on a 721 dragline.
I've always wanted a functional drag line crane
What about the emission systems how much DPF does the engine use
You can’t be serious right?
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
plumb the exhaust into a closed coal mine!! cleaner then a tesla!
Yeah, a lot of people don’t realize that those electric vehicles have to be charge some kind of way
Come on! Lets rev her up to 8500! Lol
Very nice
Sounds like it's only running on about 2 cylinders
At first it is only firing on a couple of cylinders but smooths out after a bit. Takes a while when you only start it every couple of years!
Can't hear Greta with this rolling along in the background 😅
Is it lighting up one bank at a time?
Had one of these in my '68 caddy. lol
Sounds like its getting there.
so you say it's two-stroke, but if you look at 10:27 it sounds like it's firing every OTHER revolution, which would make it four stroke. Correct me if I'm wrong
I'm thinking the same, glad to see it's not just me
Haven't seen that engine in a long time.
She is beautiful 😍
is it the way that engine sits or is it laying on its side

@@indridcold8433 umm i think i know what an engine looks like as im a mechanic, its just the camera angle looks like the engine is layin on it side

Diesel two stroke?
Yes, Detroit 2 stroke . I used to run old Wabco rock trucks that had the V16 . They were screamers!
Used for at Page, thanks for sharing
It never did really run, right?
Yes it does run, around 1:55 in the video... about the time the smoke comes rolling out!
Is that a Paxmen engine?
Only a V6?
So it's like the 3800 in my Grand Prix.
yeah but you may need bigger tires and a little beefier suspension
Wheww!.. figure out a way to pipe that smoke outside man.
The engine appears to be missing the air intake tube and the exhaust pipe. I guess it is not installed yet until the engine gets running smoothly.
It needs to be tied down solid somehow. Couple of times I saw him try to give it a little throttle, and she starts rocking and rolling it’s kind of scary! Like it’s just sitting on the uneven dirt floor
please tell me this isn't how it is everyday?
No, only once every 3 years or so
well if this is it "running" then i can see why it stopped getting used.
I thought they were 4stroke
In the opening shot, the operator is wearing a tuque. I'm thinking to myself, Man, if he straightens up any taller, he's gonna lose that tuque. Next time we see him, the tuque is gone.
It never ran under its own power.
Ca-choo ca-choo ca-choo ca-choo
It would br a nightmare if that big engine ran away
An engine that large would probably have a damper in the air intake that could be shut off. However, it looks like the engine is missing the exhaust. Thus, it is probably missing the air intake tube as well.
Eric Caves that would put it out of its misery lol
Looks like it's laying on its side.
Sounds like a rod knock

Looks like the governor is not working ...
Glad to see he's wearing all his PPE and breathing protection. It's not as if diesel fumes are carcinogenic or anything.

Never actually started. Not getting fuel I reckon.
Yes it does actually start and run, you can hear and see from the smoke, right around 1:55 in the video
It was ŕunning even I could see that LOL 😂
She sounds little clangy
A hand shovel can out dig this pup!
Towards the end it sounded like chop stick chopstick etc !!!
beyond big LOL
Doesn't want to know.
If it doesn’t start he will die of suffocating
Dieser Motor hat doch niemals ein Gewicht von 350 Tonnen.🙄🙄🙄🙄👎👎 Viele Grüsse aus Germany
My God this is boring, why does the exhaust just dump into the room?
So viel Schrott auf einen Haufen. Der Abgasjunkie der die Maschine bediente läuft genau so unrund wie sein Motor .
