Woodworking Beginner: New - Update. This test is only if you want to saw with precision with a miter saw.(test is not intended for rough and hard work). Tips and Test: Very important if you would like to saw with precision. (avoid torsion as much as possible)! Always choose a Miter saw with a handle positioned in a VERTICAL line above the saw blade. Everything must be aligned, slide rails, handle, and saw blade,it is much better this way the blade will not tilt. Because there is some torsion in the aluminum housing . And choose an engine with softstart on it to prevent wear of the gear and worm shaft. It is very important that everything is aligned. Here are some examples to show how the handle must be positioned above the blade. First option: handle vertical positioned above the saw blade. Bosch gcm 800 sj / Bosch gcm 8 sjl / Evolution rage 3 / FESTOOL KS 60 / Bosch GCM 8 SDE / FESTOOL KS 60 E KAPEX / Metabo KGSV 72 Xact/ Bosch PCM 8 SD / Hitachi C10FSH / Ridgid MS255SR 10-inch / Evolution Fury3-S / Evolution R255SMS / Metabo HPT C10FSBS / Hitachi C10FSB / Hitachi C10FS. Second optie: handle horizontal positioned above the saw blade / Evolution R185SMS / Evolution F255SMS / Evolution RAGE3R255 SMS3 . (This also is the case with the Miter saw without the slide rails). (If you want). You can test it yourself at home if there is torsion in the aluminum housing. Step-1. First you make a saw cut from +-5 mm deep in to a flat piece of wood about +- 20 mm thick to this with the normal handle positioned on the right side of the Miter saw (the wood it will remain in place until the test is completed). Step-2. Then repeat this by pushing the saw blade down with your hand or finger on the aluminum protective cover were the saw blade is cased in. Just now only do this without the running engine. Step-3. Now you can see if the saw blade will be positioned in or next to the saw cut. If the saw blade is (+- 0,2 / 0,5 mm) next to the saw cut then there is torsion in the aluminum housing. (test is completed). Step-4. Therefor it is much better to choose a Miter saw with the handle positioned VERTICAL in line above the saw blade. The second option is the handle positioned HORIZONTAL in line above the saw blade. Step-5. When you measure the vertical 90 degrees angle square (Digital Level Box) of you're sawblade don't forget that there is always some torsion in the aluminum housing. Conclusion: Remember this, the test is only about torsion and nothing else how further away the handle is from the saw blade how more chance of torsion in the aluminum housing, you better not go for that. (the choices are yours).
Bought this the day for £79 in scotland I got it mainly for cutting skirting's and door facings for home project thanks for the demo lets me see how it works
Angles are NOT accurate… there is even a difference between the position fully retracted and fully extends: which means that the cylinders are not straight. This is the worst part of this miter saw but I used it a lot and for low budget projects is totally ok. I hope it helped. This review is useless… cuts are straight but not precise to the angles you choose. Cheers
Thanks for the video. I have a question, is it only me or is it not very easy to manage the pin so the blade goes down.? I really struggle. I am going to have a look at the manual again.
hello #^TechGuru Andrew i have this table and my question , can you make a tutorial how to change the saw blade from this machine ? the machine is more differents then other machine's where tuturials over changing blades. i now there is an manuel for that but problem for people like me the letters to little to read. is this possible ? i buyed the machine to cut wood for making a floor. best regards
Nice review. It says the max size cutting disc is 210mm, but could you fit a 216mm disc? How much clearance is there between the blade and the blade cover?
Your comment was a year ago so I'm sure you sorted this out but in the interest of completeness for other readers: I just got one of these and there's about 8mm clearance on the radius between blade and cover (so, times 2 for the diameter), which means a 216mm disc should fit based on that. I haven't tested this though, so if this messes up for some other reason then sorry.
@@RutgerVos I actually did try it and couldn't get a 216mm disc to fit. Can't remember why now but it fouled on another part of the saw mechanism. In short: stick to 210mm cutting discs.

Superb quality throughout, easy to assemble. I found the saw to be highly accurate and a delight to use (I am a homeowner using this saw for various projects). I attached the saw to a folding mobile stand to save space and that works great th-cam.com/users/postUgkxPeGkHOMe05FySypTOvYumxMn-xi39oRe as well. However, you have to be sure the saw is securely locking in position before collapsing the stand. I've had many of the brands over the years and have come to point where I only buy Bosch, the extra money is a small price to pay for the quality and ease of use. Treat yourself to the best.
Never actually checks whether its cutting true - are any of the cuts at the angle you have selected? Whats the point of a saw if its not proven to cut correctly - You tube is full of these sorts of unboxing/ "testing"- all you have done is created some firewood.

@@drcl7429 not yet, came with 24 teeth blade, I bought a replacement 100 teeth blade for better quality cuts. Will see how it performs.

Can you trench cut / groove cut with this saw??
Man are you slicing cheese or cutting wood? why not measure the angles of your cut? It would be good to see if the angles are accurate

Can you measure the thickness of the sliders and how far apart they are. Please use a caliper if you have one. Thank you.
Can u show how you attached the hoover to it
Dear Andrew,Really great video. Even though it says it is just for wood and plastics at 2000w can it cut aluminium// steel with a different blade?
Did you ever actually manage to replace the saw/disk? Mine is unmovable, was the first thing I tried when I unboxed it
To loosen it you actually have to turn right (clockwise) and to tighten left (counterclockwise).
Anyone knows what the sliding dimension max cut is?
Hi, great Video, it's supposed to be able to cut aluminum, have you tried it?
It's sold as being for wood and plastic. I suppose aluminum might work with a different blade, but definitely not with the one that comes with it.
Thanks for the video. I have a question, is it only me or is it not very easy to manage the pin so the blade goes down.? I really struggle. I am going to have a look at the manual again.

It's very good but not so easy for lefthand people. That's because the motor is on the right side and we (lefthands) put wood from the right side
