Hello again Vicky. I love your card recycling ideas. Your creations are marvelous. Why do people have to tell you how to get the most out of your time? If they don't like your methods they need to just move on and don't watch. Don't let their negativity get to you. Just move past this negativity. You are awesome and have many subbies who love you and what you do. Loyalty is a characteristic that some don't have. Whatever works for you is fine with most of us. It certainly is for me. Please keep making videos for those of us who love you and leave the rest behind you.
Thank you for sharing your tips & your recycling. I am also doing this to send to old folks in rest homes without anyone to care about them,(via a group I belong to & watching you really gives me inspiration.
Thank you for a very informative video. Explaining why you do what you do helps. I find making my own is very relaxing and I want to share with my friends my crafts. They always seem to be very appreciative and love what I do. Compliments always makes me want to make more.
I like when you use the timer. It shows what you can get accomplished in just 30 mins and sometimes that may be all the time a person has in a week to get some crafting done!
I recycle my cards right away in January because it is cold in Iowa and I just find more time in January to get it done so I am not doing it in November or December. It is so fun to do and love watching your videos showing your way of recycling. I dont care about the timer. It is totally up to you if it helps you. It keeps you on task. Bravo to you.
Vicky thank you! I have been saving cards for along time always meaning to reuse them. I came across your channel by accident and am so happy that I did.
I like your videos. I make all my gift tags from Christmas cards. I enjoy it so that is what matters to me. You keep doing what you love and I will keep watching!
LOL that wasn't Christmas trees it was actually just a pattern that looks like snake skin. But you are right it could look from farther as Christmas trees! Didn't even realize that until you mentioned it.
I love watching you create these recycled Christmas cards, i am thinking i may give this a go along side the Christmas decorations i make. Happy new year 2020 to you too
I think the use of the timer is a great idea. Sometimes we get into our project with other things to do on our agenda. I say whatever works for us, use it. Thanks for the idea!
Thank you for another Christmas card video even though Christmas is over. I feel like I didn't get enough Christmas crafting in before Christmas. I've been watching older videos just to get more Christmas in. For dimensional cards to go through the US mail it needs to fit through a one fourth inch slot easily. I had gone to their website to find the postal regulations, and I made a template. If it doesn't fit the standard regulations, then it will require extra postage, which usually isn't much more. If you make shaker cards that you don't want to become damaged; you can have it hand stamped at the post office. I don't mind paying extra postage for a special card to brighten someone's day.
Thanks for posting the size. I have an actual plastic guide because i mail stuff out a lot but didn't think to measure it until I was doing the video :) And you are so right about brightening up someone's day!
Great cards, as always. When I send my cards, I take them in to the post office and they can quickly determine which need to be hand stamped. They're very nice and helpful about it.
Nice video; thank you. I wish I had saved the envelopes that Christmas cards came in, as I could cover them and use them as pockets for journals and notepad covers as well.
Don't take too much to heart when it comes to people's comments. It's just that some people do Not really understand the idea. I'm totally on board with the gratification to know that I made my own cards with my own ideas. I'm a total scrapbooker in my own right. Made at least 40 or more scrapbooks over many years. Keep it up how ever you want to. I'm gonna pull out my stuff this coming year!! Your videos are an inspiration for me!! Thanks bunches!!
Great video and tips on recycling cards. I, also am a crooked cutter and like to think it lends to my style. I make all of my cards for all occasions. At times, it can be more expensive, but I do feel good about creating something special for friends and family.
Me too. And I noticed this year, most of the cards I received are more interesting than last year's. I think I may have unwittingly issued a challenge!
Hi sweetie, I would say I learned from this tutorial today about making two cards out of one and where abouts to cut it. Great idea for the inside too, rather thank just cover with plain white paper. Thanks so much dear. :)
The timer is a great idea. I over think cards to much then I get stressed and end up making nothing because Ive stressed myself out and panic so I quit. If that makes sense. Great video thank you.
Vicky, I seldom choose to watch a video longer than 30 minutes so I think the timer is a smart idea. Also, have you ever used a paper cutter with a ruler printed on it? That way you don’t have to measure and mark your paper. Saves so much time.
I used to have one but I was cutting even worse if that's possible than with the guillotine so I have stopped using it lol It's very very rare that I use a ruler as you know :) I usually eyeball.
Lovely cards again! However, I was overcome with Shock! Horror! Omigosh you said if you run out of cards you'd buy some! Aaaaargh! Then it wouldn't be 'Recycle or Use Your Stash'! T'would be....'Go Out And Buy More Cards'!! How could I cope! (Faints!) Don't mind me, I'm having a funny old day! :-D I love recycling!
bwahahaha it would be thrifted cards :) It's hard because there really isn't as much mail as there used to be and the cards that I get are often handmade so I would never alter those! they are way too precious
Great tips and tricks, both verbally given and just shown by example. Listen to yourself though. You made less and worried through a substantial portion of the video, feeling self-conscious about the methods that work for you. They are the methods that work for you. If folks really can't stand them, they oughta quit clogging up your comment section with complaints and revert to any of the multitude of similar channels on youtube. That's all you should need to say. We love you. Don't worry so.
I have a little one, and found it does goof up! ---paper too thin, etc. the longer the strip the more prone to distortion. My cutters with rotary blades, or separate blades usually (unless pilot error) work better. As a quilter, I've cut so much fabric with rotary cutters and plexi rulers. The longer the plexi ruler the more you get distorted fabric.
I'm not talking about a hand held rotary cutter, but Fiskars has a paper crafting mat, one with a rotary cutting blade and another with a funky orange piece that has a tiny blade that cuts paper. I think Stamping up and Gina K also have cutting mats or systems. These are really easy to use. I guess if you want your cutter to work better--maybe sharpen the blade, and if there is a way to make the plastic clamp grip better. I have a tacky spray from Odif. (spell check changed the name) called Grippy you could try removing the plastic holder spray it on the backside--outside 2 X and reinstalling after it is dry. It has been wonderful on the back of my quilting rulers to prevent the big suckers from slipping. I know this is not a big deal, but sometimes the little things frustrate me like crazy. Having to fix your cuts frequently, which I'm guessing is really not your fault would be one of those!
I used to make my own also but since becoming a quadriplegic I can no longer make my own. I do, however, have a collection of cards that I was prepared to use before my accident. I'm not sure where you live, but I'd be willing to send you my collection. Since your cards are bilingual, I suspect that you might be in Ontario or Quebec. Contact me at jaxslady@gmail.com since we have to downgrade and I'm pretty certain all my stamps & cards will find their way into the garbage. Watching you make the cards almost made me cry because I miss working with my hands. Scrapbooking was also a project that I had started so I buckled when I saw that you had done the same. You do a spectacular job. Stop worrying about your family, we can hardly hear them plus it adds reality to your video. Keep up the great work!
omg Suzanne I'm so sorry to hear that you have had an accident and can no longer enjoy your craft. You are right I'm in Montreal Québec. Sending you an e-mail now.

I found your channel just a week ago. Enjoy your teaching very much. I enjoy your voice and slight accent, fun to listen to.
I like when you use the timer. It shows what you can get accomplished in just 30 mins and sometimes that may be all the time a person has in a week to get some crafting done!

Loved the last card but couldn't help but notice the green strip of Christmas trees is upside down...LOL.

Lovely cards, great ideas, also using a timer is a great way to not over think! I will be using one as i over think way too much! Thanks x
I love the timer! I've been using it since watching you.
Zi just love this Idea! I think I might give this a try? So creative.
Always love your recycle christmas cards. Lots of good ideas. So glad your channel is growing!
Thanks for sharing! I have a ton cards I am not sure what to do with 😊
Love these Christmas card recycling makes. I will definitely be doing more this year too.

Loved watching you as usual.....the last card was actually my favourite, as it is so different. I’ve just started recycling mine today too.
I like your work and the timer doesn't bother me but I would like to see the process rather than all the talking.
Great video and tips on recycling cards. I, also am a crooked cutter and like to think it lends to my style. I make all of my cards for all occasions. At times, it can be more expensive, but I do feel good about creating something special for friends and family.

Do you do make other cards besides Christmas Cards? I love watching you. Good job!!!
yes check out the card playlist. You will find all sorts of other cards :)
I love this idea!

Very, very pretty! 💝
I give my cards to my daughter who uses them each year for gift tags!😊😊
Loved your video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
The timer is a great idea. I over think cards to much then I get stressed and end up making nothing because Ive stressed myself out and panic so I quit. If that makes sense. Great video thank you.
Using a timer is a great idea. I'm one of those who overthinks my cards! I think that's what happens when you have too much stuff!
a great thing as well is to limit yourself to 5 items that also helps to stop the overthinking :) I think I will be trying that as well...
@@CraftingVicky hmm. That is also a good idea!
Très joli!

I like the timer. Short videos are easier to watch.
When they asked , what do you do with the inside of the card , I wonder if the meant the inside of the old card .
Maybe but many asked if I left it blank so I took it to mean the new card.
Lovely cards again! However, I was overcome with Shock! Horror! Omigosh you said if you run out of cards you'd buy some! Aaaaargh! Then it wouldn't be 'Recycle or Use Your Stash'! very true, thank you! I just felt that I had to address some of the comments that I have been getting recently :)
I'm guessing you cut crooked because the guillotine cutter pulls the paper more at the top or bottom.
That is probably the case! I will have to check how I hold my paper.
Thanks for the tip I will check it out.
