I really like this cover! As a Mexican i really felt the emotion iin this!
If someone is wondering, this song comes from another legend, but not from terror but from love, because of war a man in love has to leave his beloved and she waits for him day after day. However, one day a soldier arrives to give him a letter, in it are written the lyrics of the song, his beloved had died and his last words of love were in the letter, the 'ay de mi, llorona' can be translated as a expression of pain, the man wonders what will become of his beloved without him and how sad he was without her.
In the original lyrics, much of the history of these lovers is detailed as "Salías de un templo un día llorona y la virgen te crei" (one day I saw you leaving a temple and you seemed to me a saint) or "El que no sabe de amores, no sabe lo que es martirio" (who does not know about love, does not know what martyrdom is).
I especially like a part that says "Tapame con tu rebozo llorona, porque me muero de frio" "cover me with your overflow, Weeping woman, because I'm dying of cold" the man is dying both physically and emotionally without being loved around.
