This game is a feast to the senses; the website, art, layout and physical books. As you began the vid, it feels uncomfortable removing the books from your house. The setting does border on grimdark, but as PoC, I appreciate the inclusion of culture and color, treating the evolution of thought and behavior in a natural post-apocolyptic manner. As said above, awaiting part 2!
They even give away the fonts & layout for homebrew content. The interactive map keeps my mind in one place and the 'tongue in cheek' terminology has me gasping (Spiral from Hospital, Eshaton from Ash a Ton or A Sh!t Ton, for example). As a small press publisher, SixMoreVodka is my benchmark for quality. Peace!
@@RPGwithDBJ These aren't tongue in cheek terms though. Spital is a root word for hospital and eschaton is a theological word meaning "the final event in the divine plan"
@@RPGwithDBJ Whoops, didn’t see what the Great Old One wrote there… Anyway: I’m a huge fan too, despite being very new to Degenesis. I’m afraid I must disappoint you regarding the tongue in cheek humour though at least in the cases you cited. Christian Günther the german inventor of the universe seems to be very well read and quite serious about his vision of a possible future for mankind. Es(c)haton is religious term from Ancient Greek and refers to the time after Armageddon. Spital on the other hand is just German shorthand for hospital, which originally referred to the hospitality of christian shelters for pilgrims in the middle ages. In Switzerland Spital replaces the more widely used Hospital or Krankenhaus (house of the sick) almost completely.
Such a comprehensive and well summarized overview to the best RPG out there. Thanks so much for your work and for making it very easy to start with Degenesis!
I saw this on OnTableTop and thought the trailer they showed off was really cool with Spitalian readying for battle with an infected. Glad to see you're covering it! Looking forward to your next two videos.
Your review and breakdown videos always do make these TTRPGs easier to understand Dave. Hahaha. First being Ironsworn, Age of Sigmar Soulbound and City of Mist for me and now Degenesis Rebirth. Thank you so much for your thorough explanation Dave! Best regards Dave.
I don’t know how I found out about this but I downloaded the PDFs and loved the creativity of the setting. I just wish it wasn’t so expensive and in Europe because everything exiting Europe to America is like 30% more expensive.
Thank you! That setting history explains a lot more than the book initial 'what is degenesis' and the false initial idea that this is post-apocalypse mutant-landscape theme.
Dave the Dude is awesome!! You are going to singlehandedly change the face of gaming on this planet. You will end up becoming the Czar of Gaming, the King of Stuff, and the most coolest Dude in the world.
Fantastic review - just ordered the hardback bundle (300 Euro) based on your video so the collaboration with you has definitely paid off for sixmorevodka :-)
I have just discovered your channel and after the 1st setting overview (?) I subscribed, then I listened to this video and got hooked. I will now listen to pt2. Perhaps you could do a play through like Tale of the Manticore so I(and no doubt others) could see how this plays out. Thanks for doing this, I throughly enjoyed it and will slowly chew through your library. Oh, as an aside, I found you through your 27(?? 25) Free RPG video and that was awesome. Too bad my computer is my phone and I am running out of memory, so I can't download them all or even alot.
Thanks for sharring and explaining the lore, maybe in not interested in playing the game, but the lore is deep, my players aren't into games with a billion cultures, but it can be raided for ideas
Lol, streamers being seen as gods. I've only just stumbled on this game via images popping up in my pinterest feed. Truly incredible work of art and lore. I now must have a copy of the books.

It's a bit tricky in some cases. Here’s the deal: If the person wants to purchase a bundle + some products, the solution is to first add whichever product they want to their cart, and then go to the bundle gallery page (where all the bundles are showcased) and to just click "add to cart". Then just go to checkout and it should work. If there is only one bundle, then just click add to cart, then checkout and that works.
@@DaveThaumavore I tried this - but it didn't work for me? I added the Czar Bomba Bundle to my cart, proceeded to checkout, and in the Gift Card slot it gave me an invalid code error. Maybe I'll try contacting them for more details and restrictions?
@@DaveThaumavore No no - don't apologize - I was more trying to inform that there might still be something up with it. And I'll definitely contact them. Your videos are fantastic, and this is the first one that got me to your channel - I'm binging the rest of your content as I eagerly await parts 2 and 3!
Hello Dervish, what do you mean with “too much”? Katharsys can surely look scary with its 350+ pages, but the game system is relatively friendly towards new players. The only thing that requires some time to be processed is the game’s lore and world, but that’s normal considering how huge the books are. Hop in the official Discord server and feel free to ask questions, there are many friendly and competent people who could help you enjoying the game in its entirety :)
@@Hozon_9 I guess what turned me off was the skill system and how a number of skills were too similar to each other. As a new DM it would've been a challenge to determine roll to call for players and such.
@@Dervishblue The skill knowledge doesn’t have to come all at once, the first adventures even tell you what rolls you should use, besides that, usually the real difference lays in combination rolls (a complex action determined by two skills). I’m not trying to convince you, but I’ve been on your side and I know how overwhelming it may seem.
i dont want this as a game as much as i want it in a 10 novel series. as i was listing to this i actually forgot it was a game.
Hey Dave, loved the bar at the left, showing the whole content in the video. That's a great idea, and it's the first time I've seen it.
I love this game and it is tragic its audience isn't bigger than it is. Thankyou for doing this. Best editing so far, great stuff.

What are you using to get that female robotic voice?
So, you like the books?
To say the least. The PDFs and printed versions both set the gold standard in their respective realms for RPG books.
I love your reviews. Keep it up. I always look forward to the next one.
Man this seems like alot. If the system ain't dirt simple I'm a hard pass. The world already has my head spinning.
Tried to use the code to buy the book but there is no place in the website to put it, there's a 'Gift card' field but doesn't work in there

There is something so sus about the imageries and the iconography of this book
Oh hay it's the RPG that something awful inexplicably hates.
