De Sousa started the whole fight, walked up and flexed/threaten a down player, threw the first fist, and tried to slam a chair on someone untill someone slapped it away from his hands.
There was a player in a black polo and white pants from the Kansas St. bench (I'm assuming an injured player) who came over and was the one that instigated the fist fighting with Desousa. There was really just shoving and normal shit-talking up until the dude in the black polo and white pants and Desousa started throwing haymakers at each other. That dude should be kicked off the team, Desousa was reacting to someone outside the court coming at him and up until he picked up the chair (which was taken out of his hands 2 seconds later) I have absolutely NO problem with his reaction since you don't know what a guy without a uniform on is going to do and he was defending himself. Now, once he picks up that chair, he's putting himself at risk now of criminal assault and thank God an assistant wrestled that chair away from him. That young man could be looking at possible criminal charges if not for that assistant. That being said, dude in the black polo and white pants made a HUGE mistake because right after Desousa clocks him, he gets knocked into the crowd and at least 4 Kansas players stomp him. Which he deserved for coming off the bench. To me, the instigator was the dude in the black shirt and white pants because up until the point he enters the frame, this is, at most, just a technical for taunting, but once he got in, the fight really started.
Senior year of highschool I got suspended two games for “starting a fight” and “swinging on an opposing player”. With 30 seconds left in our homecoming game, we were winning 10-7 and the other team was driving. I was playing linebacker, and our safety picked off the QB and returned it about ten yards before taking a knee. While he was standing up from the kneeling position, one of the O linemen decked the shit out of him. I was the closest player so I In turn decked the lineman and stood over him saying, “get the fuck out of my stadium”. This happened right next to our sideline so it quickly became about 40 on 1, and it didn’t end up turning into a all out brawl. 4 of our players were ejected form the game, but my suspension was the only one that stuck because the ref thought he saw me swing. It sucked not playing in the next two games but we watched my hit on that lineman about 20 times during film on Monday, and I had a very good time at our parties that weekend.

I'm pretty sure the Bryce Harper - Hunter Strickland fight was one where Harper decided mid-swing not to throw the helmet. A lot of people thing he lost the helmet but part of me thinks some common sense took control for a split second, caused doubt, and the helmet went flying away from Strickland. He probably thought, "I'm boned if I throw this thing at him."

Here's what happened: K-State player steals the ball instead of letting KU run out the clock. I'm pretty sure that K-State's coach had even given the signal to just let KU dribble it out. De Sousa who had the ball stolen from him tracks down the player that stole it and blocks his shot hard (clean block). He flexes over the K-State player. When he does this K-State players on the court and from their bench rush onto the court to break it up and help their player to his feat. The coaches aren't their to prevent the players on the bench from going out on the court because they're heading to handshake line. KU players see a few K-State players heading for their teammate so they rush over to stop anything from happening. One K-State player shoves De Sousa hard and he falls over the bottom part of the basketball hoop. De Sousa gets up and throws a punch. Another K-State player, whose last name is ironically Love (he was injured so was in polo and white pants) starts throwing more punches at De Sousa. De Sousa starts fighting back and the rest of the benches clear. Right now it's Love and De Sousa throwing punches and that's it. Jeremy Case a KU assistant coach and former player tries to get in-between Love and De Sousa and as he gets to the fight, Love throws Case to the ground. This causes McCormick from KU and Garrett from KU to get physical with Love. De Sousa gets some distance and "by gawd" grabs a stool. People try to grab the stool from De Sousa, but no one really gets a hand on it, but De Sousa let's go of the chair before doing anything with it. As of right now De Sousa has been suspended indefinitely by Bill Self and 12 games by the Big 12, and David McCormick apparently did throw a punch and has been suspended for 2 games by the Big 12. K-State James Love (dude in polo shirt, white pants and pushed out of his shoes) got an 8 game suspension and Antonio Gordon got a 3 game suspension by the Big 12. Gordon might have been the one that pushed De Sousa to the ground that started the fight. Apparently, Pat has never seen white people watching a BB game, given that he has to state 3 or 4 times that the brawlers waded into a crowd of wypepo.
Yea..because a random white spectator forced to take out a likely black b-ball player at the knee wouldn’t be controversial or anything. Like when Ron Artest cleared out an entire section of NBA fans... unless you’re big enough to play in league or have a gang with ya... freezing or scattering are about your only options. “Why’d ya sweep the leg?” R: “I had to stand my ground, and I couldn’t reach anyone’s head to throw a punch” “Wasn’t even your fight though” I can see Pat’s point about more people could have gotten out of the way and maybe the people capable of breaking it up don’t have to swim through mass of humanity to do so.
There's been a few comments regarding him saying 'student-humans'. At first I was a little annoyed but then came to my own understanding that we're all human and capable of going off script in particular moments. In the heat of the moment some have less ability to reign it back in than others. There's no excuse for this fight. I hope everyone involved receives an appropriate penalty. If it's true regarding the melee occurring in the handicapped section, I feel really bad for the spectators. None of them would likely have the ability to remove themselves from the situation...completely helpless. It's my biggest fear when guiding my disabled wife through crowds at events that some sort of calamity will occur and I'm unable to protect her.
I still blame the dude the stood over the guy on the ground for starting the fight , you do that to any man and he’s going to defend himself , any guy that’s played ball knows that’s not a thing you do unless you want a fight , and he got a fight .
Should’ve held the L he got salty he lost and got fucking mad REJECTED and flexed on 🤷♂️ sometimes you just aren’t as good and he didn’t wanna accept that
It was a lot of unnecessary escalation on both sides. 1. Guy goes for steal down when you are down 22 points with 10 seconds to go. This is asking for trouble. 2. Guy who gets stolen on comes back to prevent score. Gets a block and then flexes on guy on ground. At this point both guys have crossed a line, but neither have started a fight. 3. Kstate bench clears and joins the scrum. Players getting in each other's faces. This is the point where things go off the rails. 4. Kstate player in plain clothes comes off the bench and shoves two of his teammates into the KU player. KU player starts pushing back. Plain clothes Kstate player takes a swing at KU player. 5. KU players clear own bench and come running in. Pushing comes from all sides. KU player picks up stool and raises it above his head (assistant coach appears to take it from him). *things to add at the end. No one was hit with stool. The apparent stomping of people on the ground was actually just people stepping over fallen chairs. Mizzou is looking at a lifetime ban for this conduct.

“Why’d ya sweep the leg?” R: “I had to stand my ground, and I couldn’t reach anyone’s head to throw a punch”
“Wasn’t even your fight though”
I can see Pat’s point about more people could have gotten out of the way and maybe the people capable of breaking it up don’t have to swim through mass of humanity to do so.
Reminds me of the UMass Amherst vs Temple University basketball games of the mid 90's.
Looks like a Jerry Springer show.
Coming from a native Kansan, we actually take basketball that seriously. 😂😂😂
That is how you make a great rivalry game for years to come!!!!!!
they get to play again on 2/29 that match should be fun to watch!!! it's at Kansas state
Pat McAfee & company: * laughs about the fight *
Kansas and Kansas State players: Am I a joke to you?
Pat McAfee & Company: Yes.
Taking 'stool sample' to an entirely different level.
best sports show by far.
This is the greatest brawl since the Ugandan Court Brawl 😂😂😂
Thirty seconds in and I can tell already I am going to love this post.
That chase down block was sick though, dude deserved to flex a bit
3:00 has Renaissance painting energy
went to a basketball game and ended up watching a hell in the cell match,

Both are acceptable
I’m 3 minutes in and I haven’t heard “optically” in a sentence yet. I’m sure he will get to it later”
I still blame the dude the stood over the guy on the ground for starting the fight , you do that to any man and he’s going to defend himself , any guy that’s played ball knows that’s not a thing you do unless you want a fight , and he got a fight .
Shouldn't have stole the ball
Okay, so I'm new to Pat's show, but the way he says "humans" instead of people all the time makes me chuckle.
