    Hey Guys
    Have just come across your videos tonight while looking at upgrading to a titanium caravan.
    I love the way you presented yourselves and videos, very real & honest.
    I live in the NT, have done the Gibb and a number of tracks, your video was very very helpful & real.
    Keep up the great work. Live the life you love, Cheers Tim

    Good video mate, we have friends with a titanium hardcore and they are having so many problems, dometic fridge died, swift hot water system has died twice, 2 water tanks have fallen out, there door doesn’t seal and it gets badly dusted and through the draws, even with a dust reduction system and I’m sure there is more Ive forgotten.
    Not ideal for a near $200k van.
    They have said titanium have been good with all the warranty stuff tho.
    In regards to the 400ah lithium, I think it’s spot on too for someone traveling the usual rout chasing the seasons, but if you where to do things a bit different and do more bush camping etc I think you would definitely need 600ah+, we have 400ah and 1150W of solar and we pretty much only get 2 nights max when we are shaded before we run out of power, we do have and need to run starlink a bit for work tho which seems to chew around 4-5AH

    Hey mate great vid!!! We have a titanium too and has taken a good beating off road. A few little things but overall very happy with it. We do have a composting toilet and i would 100% do it again. I think most that dont like them dont really get how they work, but we just went on a 6 week trip and only had to empty it when we got back so no extra cassette to carry around, no dump points and i just dug a hole in the back yard hahahaha. Obviously you do have to empty the pee but since your offgrid most of the time you just take it outside and pour it in a hole. Anyway keep up the content mate and safe travels!!

    Hi guys
    I came off the Gibb 1 month ago. We towed Jayco Journey outback 19.6 foot. Had no issues other than two cupboard hinge screws came loose. Very impressed with JTech suspension and build. I was very nervous to take our van across Gibb. But pleasantly surprised.

      Nice work guys. Most of the time it’s how you drive and tire pressures. Good work 🤙🏻

    Loved your video. Disappointed that you don’t like composting toilets. May I ask if that’s still your view and why you feel that way? We’re considering one for our new van.

    Thank you guys for the all the information just a curiosity all those things that you guys suggest for upgrades how much you think we’re talking about will cost for you to do it yourself versus having somebody else to do it. Can you give us a price breakdown please in general figure?? just one more thing on a full sunny day. Can you guys run air conditioning all day?

    Thanks for the review. I noticed your door opens up against your bedroom window. How do you cope with that? We open that window all the time Our door hinges on the opposite but misses the kitchen window. I agree with you regarding the size of lithium batteries. We have a 200Ah and a 2000W inverter. We don’t run the AC off it but would like to upgrade from 400W to 600W of solar but otherwise after 8 months on the road it’s been fine. Like you said getting massive battery system means you need a equally massive system to charge it back up.

    • @SmartTouringSystems
      @SmartTouringSystems  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the comments.
      The door has a stay so it is held straight out as well as against the van.

    What is it that is keeping the dust out of the caravan? Is it how it is built or some additional thing/protection they have?

    • @SmartTouringSystems
      @SmartTouringSystems  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The van was well built but most of the dust free travel was because of the carafan I believe.

  • @MarninZondag

    i just watched the video and wonderd if there is a break upgrade to a car like break system, witch means getting a car master brea cilinder for the Van/ trailer/ fifthwheel, cars have split breks, front left and right rear together and front right and rear left, this so when line breakes you always have 2 more and 50% break capacity left. this by having a split piston in the master break cilider. fixing might stil be a nightmare but you would allways have 1 frond and 1 rear and 1 left and 1 right break working (if you arnt unlucky enough that both lines break)
    coud this be a small ugrade, i beleve 1 master cilinder change would be all you need to do..

    Great video guys - we took a lot of your tips into our new Titanium atx buid and are very happy with the setup…can you advise what tire pressures you run in the van and car and if you run airbags in the car….also have you noticed any sway whilst on the road? Thinking of sway bars to compliment the set up but undecided to be honest…

    • @SmartTouringSystems
      @SmartTouringSystems  ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheers for the feedback 👍🏼 tyre pressures sit at 40 in the front of the car and 50-55 in the rear, then 40 all round for the van. We don’t have airbags in the ute and we don’t run sway bars. We find it tows really nice and straight as is. Can I also ask, what options you selected in regards to the ATX.

    • @tonyk3566
      @tonyk3566 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for quick response Guys… we’re running with the same suspension, added an extra table, same 400ah config but with enerdrive & a 5th Solar panel with additional Anderson plug option added to the kit. Inside we chose the black pack with no drain and no oven option…carafan on the roof for those dusty roads… might look at changing the muddies to all terrains down the track … need to sort out bike racks next..happy and safe travelling & keep on posting the vids !

    Terrific review......but my question is what is the max charge current your system supplies to batteries in good sun and engine running ?

    • @SmartTouringSystems
      @SmartTouringSystems  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi graham. The most I have seen from the solar input is around 40 amps, however 30 is more common, as even the slightest shadow or lower sun makes a huge difference. I have the Dcdc set at 30amps as we run a dcdc in the ute aswell which is also supplying 30 amps to another battery.
      So we sit at around 60amps combined, which has worked for our travels perfectly.

    thanks for posting. I noticed you have a 'towing brush strip' at the front of the van. how do you find it works? and can you give details on what brand/supplier etc. think of doing similar for car or van.

    • @SmartTouringSystems
      @SmartTouringSystems  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the comment. The brush strip is from busy bee brush ware, and yes I think it helps with stone damage to the underside of the caravan.

    Great review guys. Re the solar question - are you using a solar blanket as well when at camp to top up?

    • @SmartTouringSystems
      @SmartTouringSystems  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the comment jack. Mostly we don’t use any extra solar, but very occasionally we have an extra 150 to deploy.

      How’s the underneath of the van doing? Apart from the brake issue, have any fittings been damaged or broken? I saw a video recently on another channel and the underside was trashed!

    Hey did you have any dust issues in shocks or bottom bracket with your Rocky’s sitting out front? - James

      They did get a little bit dusty, but nowhere near as bad as having them on the back.

    • @SmartTouringSystems

      To be honest, all it was was a piece of plastic bread board to help support the hinge.
