Lovely scenery there! I'd heard of the Turakina Valley but not Pohonui Road! I've done some running in the past and some of these roads would be awesome for a nice relaxing run!
Yes, it was a nice ride. I'm glad I spotted that road on the map. And good on you for being able to put the words "relaxing" and "run" next to each other. It's been decades since I could say such a thing. I'm jealous.
Yeah. The sun spoiled it a bit. It also meant that I didn't get as much interesting footage as I would have liked. But it gives me a good excuse to do it again later in the year.
Great Video, I googled your route and didn't get any result that made sense, which is unusual for your rides, my 1st contact with the Northern end of Pohonui road was when I 1st joined what was then the Rural Bank in 1995, I went out to visit a young couple at Keoke Junction, who had just had the miss fortune to have a slip cut their farm in half, my next visit some 28 years later I worked on Keoke road doing traffic management for a higgins sealing crew, a few weeks after that I decided to travel the route you did in the opposite direction, after a significant rain event, thanks for sharing
There is a link to a google map in the video description. It might help make a bit more sense of the route. The map is for the full loop I did that day. The video only covers the "interesting" part of the ride.
Yep. It's pretty basic turn-by-turn navigation. It's probably okay for people who stick to the main roads, but it's not ideal once you start exploring the less traveled routes.

Absolutely nothing like traveling around the country, on our goat track's 🐐, priceless exserise and experience. ❤😊.diner on the hove not inclusive, 😊.
Yes indeed. There are so many interesting places to explore away from the main roads.
Did this route over the weekend. I kept straight on the turakina valley road and went thorugh papanui junction. Thankyou for your video.
Yeah. There are a few variations on this route. It's all worth exploring.
Shame about the sun, however, it looked like a pretty good ride, thanks for sharing 🎉

Nice
Thanks.
That GPS is pretty crook, to a point. Be great for NASCAR drivers where all they have to do is turn left....
