    Just missed the Grateful Dead during summer '77 as I visited Bhingo town with a roomate who was from there..
    He was a student at Miami Dade and i had no tethers. Another great notch of the coexistence of life and the influence of The Dead. How lucky are we to have N star to help guide us lost sailors.
    Ps I did see the Dead at the Hollywood Sportatorium that yr.
    My first show of many.

    this is to that guy who just rags on them like someone said if you don't like it don't listen to it.i like the fact there keeping the grateful dead and jerry's memory alive I'm an old head and I love the shows and dso phil and friends and ratdog.plus a lot of kids never got to see the dead tour with jerry and by the bands I mentioned they can experience that awesome good vibes of that experience so keeping the music playing like the dead said the music never stopped.

This concert pure straight ahead rock n roll...went with my friend Bill - shake down street - concert = three (3) sheets to the wind.

    Thanks for posting this awesome sounding show. Whomever doesnt like this show aint no Deadhead, the music never stops, and clearly, as the Dead evolves, each incarnation of the band must be appreciated, or you aint got no soul. I miss Jerry too and yeah its a little different without him, but how can you hate Furthur, its still The Grateful Dead carrying on and truly keeping the spirit alive and the bus rolling on. So to all you Bozo's who hate this version of the band, I really think you forgot why you liked the Dead in the first place/and the spirit of the music that at somepoint touched your souls. Think about that, the Dead is about love for the music they make, not the hate you lost Deadheads are spewing on TH-cam about how these shows suck. I would take the quality of the band in these shows over the 95 Summer Tour all day long......You lost sheep need to climb back on the bus and enjoy whats left of this long great journey we have had with The Dead as they wont live forever, and when they are long gone and all thats left are the great memories you have of them, you will wish you could have attended an Other Ones, Furthur, or a Dead & Company show when and while you had the chance. Of course assuming, you were really a true fan of the Dead and not some wannabee. I digress.

    IF I HAD THE WORLD TO GIVE and If I Had My Way, i wish so very much the boys would've gotten THIS ADVENTUROUS with set lists and breakout tunes WHEN JERRY WAS STILL AROUND. Great God Almighty. that would've been celestial. Maybe since deadtour was busting at the seems those last few years anyway the band figured they couldn't afford to take things up a notch and attract more....more. But if they could've taken that break they always talked about and revamped the repertoire like this, oh my, that could've been SO FINE.

    I think people need to relax and enjoy the music. What's the old saying, "Imitation is the finest form of flattery." Should we not enjoy other jam bands, Dead cover bands, garage bands playing for fun? I've been a dead head for a long time and after a while these petty arguments about the different iterations of the band, should Further play at all, etc. Fact is ever since the Dead started playing together, each member has always enjoyed doing side projects or playing in side bands. At the end of the day, it means we all get to enjoy tons of great music. Jerry was awesome, but he was human and he would find this type of petty fighting ridiculous and it is this type of behavior that drove him into seclusion and additional drug use. Move on folks.

    I can remember being in this smaller hockey rink type place,a and the strange thing about this show in broome county new york was Garcia was strangely enough playing his little heart out. Why do people go to see this?????????????? Sorry Phil I mean no disrespect towards you or weir. My view is the same as kreutzmann's

    • @bastardtoadflax43
      @bastardtoadflax43 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey coyote "...the strange thing...was Garcia was strangely playing his little heart out." What's strange about that? I think it's really strange how you worded that. Weird use of the word "strange." You apologize to Phil and Weir as if they'er just sitting at home watching themselves on youtube reading bad reviews about a Furthur show from 2011. That's funny.
      I think people go to Furthur for different reasons, coyote. One being that a lot of Grateful Dead fans never got to see Jerry and just wana have a good time. Why were you watching a Furthur video if you don't even like them? What did you think it was going to be? They're fuckin' dinosaurs with a few youngsters that make them sound better (but I love them). Did you find out about them a month ago? They've been around for 5 years. Not saying that Furthur is better than the Dead.
      Lastly, Billy hasn't been very good since about 1974 in my own opinion. The 80's and 90's saw some pretty lame, boring drumming (w/ the exception of "Drums", which wasn't always that great) with Mickey always playing behind the beat. I don't care what he has to say about Phil, and Bobby just sucks these days. Kreutzmann's little Trio is not that good. He's lame. I love you. Have a nice day or night. Sorry, man I don't know what I was expecting a jaded OLD head to say about Furthur. You rock!!

    • @coyote023
      @coyote023 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** Phil and weir were sittin' catchin some relaxation. Bro i gotta tell ya billy is and was one of the best drummers. Listen to a '72 Dark star>Other one or "73 Dark star>Eyes of the world>Morning dew and after listening tell me what you think of 'ol Julius P Jones. Trust me The Broome County arena was strange.

    • @bastardtoadflax43
      @bastardtoadflax43 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      China Rider Sir, why are you looking up Furthur on youtube if you don't like them? Just curious. You also think Phil only plays for the money? If so, then he's been lying to everyone who's ever seen him in the last 15 years when he does his donor rap at the end of every show. You think Russo, John K, Jeff, other Jeff, and Sunshine weren't having fun playing with two Grateful Dead members and that they only did it for the money? IMO making a lot of money is awesome but I feel that they really did enjoy doing what they did for 5 years. I know they can be lame but I still liked them while they were around. I also know DSO is really good but a lot of Furthur jams stand up to them IMO. IMO some of what DSO does is also pretty gay too. I've seen them plenty of times to know that. ONE reason ANYONE would want to see remaining members play Jerry tunes is that they never got to see the Grateful Dead and there's nothing wrong w/ that. You're not better than anyone who missed the boat. Especially IF all you saw was 80's and 90's Dead. If you were around for the 60's and 70's then good 4 u,musta been amazing but I think The Dead are overrated
      ( I love them) but it's not like they had 30 amazing, tight years together. They played a lot of bad shows; a lot of what they did was just awful. Especially parts of 1983-1986, some of the late 80's / early 90's (although it was a generally good time period for them), and a lot of '92, '94, '95, which were truly disrespectful to the name Grateful Dead, Even '91 sucked at times; too many unhealthy voices trying to sound good together, and loud Casio keyboards cutting through the mix. Jerry was such a disgusting mess. I don't know why anyone went to those shows. Old heads in denial trying to hang on the past for nostalgic purposes I guess. IMO '93 was the last respectable year. IMO. Check the archives- they have every show after about 1970 I think. Donna sucked a lot, Brent sucked a lot, Vince sucked a lot. The Dead were horrible drug attics who for most of the 80's and 90's, were purely doing it for the money for drugs and to pay all the people in the organization to keep it going while Jerry was dying on stage. Also, dude you think Furthur should have not played Jerry tunes? Just Bobby tunes and covers? Who would want to see that? Go to Rat Dog. Bobby sucks. Lastly sorry to be a dick but Jerry's dead. He's very dead. Stop getting offended when young people play his songs well. I think enough time had passed by 2009. And! why in the world did you go to Phil and Friends at all? What did you expect? All Phil songs? Of course there's gonna be some Jerry tunes in there. What else would it be? The Grateful Dead, for a lot of people, was all about Jerry and his guitar. Didn't meet your snobby old jaded dead head expectations? You don't think '97 was a little soon to go watch Phil play Grateful Dead songs. Also dude, Phil Lesh and Friends Started in 1999. You should know better than me. I don't know what you saw but the name was technically first used in '94. Look it up, it's public knowledge bro. If I'm wrong about that I will chop off my penis. See you on P&F tour.
