    Nobody else seems to be saying this but Wang reminds me so much of Hingis. Her poise on the ball, never looking rushed, moving it round. Her down the line forehand and backhands are especially Hingis-eque. She even looks a tiny bit like her.
    Meanwhile, Sabalenka is getting found out. She's got to add to her game and tidy up her serve and groundstrokes a bit to really harness her immense power and athleticism.

    • @tomgraham6071
      @tomgraham6071 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes Wang is more suited to the modern game than Hingis. She's a better athlete and hits not particularly hard, but can maintain depth well when under attack.
      I agree...age 27. Where do some of these Chinese players suddenly pop up from? Li Na came out of virtually nowhere in her mid-20s hitting the ball like a top 5 player in the making, but still didn't even make a major impact until the age of 28/29. It seems like Wang Quiang is another one who has been waiting a very long time and I'm not sure why.

    • @jonathancatunao3646
      @jonathancatunao3646 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sabalenka is nothing the same as Ostapenko. Ostapenko is courage and risk. Sobolenko is much more reliable and fundumental player, her problem is lack of creativity.
      But she has MUCH more power than Kasatkina. Power is too important. Her phisical conditions are awesome. Much better than Kerber who without versatile game was top-1 and Grand Slam Winner .
      Wang Jiang earlier didnt have power but this year improved a lot. So we see results. But her power i fear is still not enough to be top-10 for long.

    Before Wimbledon Wang was ranked 89 in the world, now she's closing in on the top 20. She never believed in herself, now she believes.. top 10 for sure with that backhand which is world class

      Agree. I think that Sabalenka is a very good player but as she always makes noises and sounds like a pig which I find bad sportsmanship, I always hope she will lose. As she did against Osaka in Us Open and as she did now against Wang.

    Wang needed to play her very best to overcome the reach and power of Sabalenka. Yes, Wang has great precision in her groundstrokes, but her lack of power puts her at a big disadvantage versus the heavy hitters such as Osaka, Ostapenko, Keyes, Sabalenka. Wang had great tactic in hitting behind Sabalenka again and again. The latter's greater mass made it difficult for her to stop and change direction. Wang needs such tactics and use more underspin shots to change the rhythm of her heavy hitting opponents to survive. I hope she wins the tournament, but I fear that Osaka will defeat her with a combination of speed, power and tactical intelligence that Sabalenka failed to demonstrate. Also, I admire Wang's resilience during this match. So many times, she was overwhelmed by Sabalenka's powerful hitting. But she held strong mentally and persisted. I wish her the best and hope she ascends to top 10. But I don't think she can consistently overcome the power hitters day after day. It's too much to ask of her.

    Wang is so cute. There were many shots I think that she didn't even knew she can hit. Her reactions were so cute. Its hard but I hope she wins this tornament just to have some spotlight on her but there is still mighty Osaka so it's gonna be very hard

    That was awesome! Today Sabalenka learned you can't just shriek a ball over the net. When she was quieter and played with tactics, she did better. Maybe she'll learn - hope so, amazing talent. Meanwhile, everybody Wang Qiang tonight.
