BST becoming a better support would give the job a bit more identity that it needed at one point. Though I admittedly have not messed with it seriously in years.
For a returning player with no ls help is a nightmare. Trust are helpful but nowhere near as much as they could be. I think the extract points could be used to strengthen individual trusts. This would be a big help to those of us who can’t get an ls or ls help.
I think the idea is that to master a job you have to actually play the job. Like it's 'mastered' not just in name but you've actually proven that you've learned how to play the job. It's an extension of the leveling process and no one thinks you should be able to get exp on one job and transfer it to your other lower level jobs. Personally I think gaining JP only for the job you're on makes sense, but I do think there needs to be something else to do with your JP to incentivize capped players to still go to that content. Even if it's not the JP itself but some kind of drop or other form of progression or something. Although that all said, having the option to spend job points on other jobs isn't necessarily a bad idea, and it WOULD make things easier to progress. Plus weirdos like me could always still choose to gain JP on while on that job. I mean that's what I do with merit points if I want to move around the job specific categories.
You are right with lack of support being a problem right now. You wouldn’t even bother getting Job Points without one, it’s too slow. I think BLU could be a great support job with a few tweaks. Make a couple of spells AoE, increase the duration of their buffs, and lower the recast of unbridled learning and move some spell off that restricted list and it could work. It wouldn’t be as good as GEO, COR, or BRD, but, the damage output would make up for it.
If we make it to 75 for SJ, /BRD is going to be amazeballs. Having access to Dirge/Sirvente from subjob will be huge. Even without Song+ you still get -32 enmity from Dirge and -32 enmity loss degradation.
I'm doing mine the old fashioned way... For me its a trip of nostalgia. Its not like CP either in my opinion cause I am sitting on right now ML4 DNC and its 11k experience I think... So I am just enjoying the hard earned exp grind I did back in the day with friends. We aren't the best of the best but we love to play. I am also excited to, just for funzies, try Karambit DNC/MNK with Kick Attacks lol
I like the idea that you have to be on a particular job to earn JP / master levels for that job. Conceptually, anyway. I do think there needs to be something you can spend the points on besides just leveling up, though, so that there is incentive to join parties even after you've capped your levels. I've heard rumors that when the new content drops after voracious insurgence there will be a new relic weapon upgrade process which seems like the perfect place to have ep be used.
on the issues of bard geo and cor being needed, my friend and i had an..... inebriated discussion in it, where ive argued player offensive stats need to come up to 90% of what they would be under the effects of BRD & Cor, and all attack and accuracy related buffs for those jobs need to be reduced significantly. this would make it so its not impossible to play without a BRD /COR, and they are still useful to bring. my argument is ultimately, that a good bard or cor, puts up a ridiculous amount of damage as it is, and offsetting their buff power would be best for the health for the long run of this game. GEO should be left alone as its offensive power is no where near that of a bard or a corsairs. TL/DR: Adjust bards/cors down, adjust players up, keep same end result of performance, but reduce the degree of which brd and cor are critical to play.
Not being able to find a party, or just get flat out rejected a spot for exemplar points because of my job (PUP) is the primary reason why I quit FFXI for good.
Odyssey is a great source for exemplar points. My cor and brd are somehow are at ML14+ from that alone and I rarely even join in Sheol C shouts. I think a group of friends rotating roles every few weeks could casually work on mastery there.
Well one other option is for then to take it slow with Master levels as the devs mentioned in previous interviews that they wanted to push content similar to ffxiv and with Master level cap + storied expansions breaking the caps is kinda achiveable as a long term plan. As for job point grind i have yet to visit the new camps but i do Belive they have even higher acc requirements then the rakznar ones so in that aspect i can see the support Jobs becoming an must have if the evasion is too much tunned up, altough things like distract 3 and quickstep are usually underlooked by the vast majoroty of the parties so untill i step into those camps i will save my judgment.
Rua, i think they are going to alter the scale each patch for one of two ways; i fully suspect that they will let us go to level 75, which would be only level 69 if they let us go to Master level 99 at a rate of 1:5. i expect they will adjust the scale at some point, to account for an extra six levels, or, at master level 99, we'll have some kind of neo-maat fight, unlocking the final six points.
I can't join any parties anymore because nobody wants to invite me. So I've been soloing master points and I'm only up to level 3. Guess that's another endgame goal like Odyssey that's simply out of reach for me. /shrug
Locking job points to the one you play does not make sense. You are playing the game on what you enjoy the most, 'so what' if you want to spend those points on a job you don't play very often?
So it's still GEO + COR + BRD or bust? In any game where your party composition needs to be 50% support, something is terribly broken. That only leaves room for one tank, one healer, and one DD, with 3 support jobs, and terribly repetitive fights (buff to high hell, pop 1hr, then brainless zerg). That's pretty boring, and the reason I left in the first place. Oh well, had high hopes of coming back, but nvm now. Either buff the support trusts to be 90% of a non rema endgame support job, or cap the number of simultaneous buffs, making more than 1 support job redundant. And would also force party leaders to make tough decisions on which buffs to use, making the game much more strategic overall. Oh well, enough of my pointless complaining. Have fun.
If your COR isn't DDing, they're doing it wrong. If your BRD isn't DDing, they're doing it wrong. If your GEO isn't MBing or backup/main healing, or DDing, they're doing it wrong. MOST content doesn't need cor/brd/geo, just 1 or 2 of them. A LARGE amount of content doesn't need a dedicated tank. Odyssey, Sortie, etc. most of the time don't use tanks or triple support. Most content in the game is WAY easier to do in a non-zerg method, people just default to zerging because it's time-efficient and doesn't rely so much on people actually being competent. You want to use different strategies? Step up to the plate and lead content yourself. I've done CP/Exemplar chains up to 100+ either solo or duo. I've done clears of tons of fights with party compositions ranging from traditional DD zerging to SMN burns to pupx6 to RDMx5 geox1 to SCH x1, COR x1, BLM x1 to 4 sams soloing different targets with a brd and a whm. You can play this game with really almost any composition you want for the vast majority of content, you just have to: 1. Know what you're doing. 2. Have people willing to try it. 3. Have the gear for the jobs you're playing. and 4: Be willing to actually do it yourself instead of being a meta slave. But even with a more standard composition (which again, is barely used for literally anything these days.) you're still looking at: Tank/healer/DD (pld) or Tank/DD/defensive support (run) or tank/extreme DD/magic burster (nin), DD, Melee DD that can grant insanely good group buffs (brd), magic burster/backup healer (or primary healer if you have a pld tank) that also provides amazing group buffs (geo), ranged/magic/melee DD skillchain closer that also grants insanely good group buffs (cor), and then either a flex spot (if pld + geo healers) or a multi-purpose support/healer/DD (rdm or sch) or a healer that essentially allows every other job to go full DD mode because no one should realistically die with a whm in 99.9% of content. You don't do content in this game with 1 DD. Nor do you need absolute top-end gear and optimal job compositions for all but like quite literally 10 or so fights in the ENTIRE GAME. A game with thousands of fights.
I agree wholeheartedly about liking what master levels bring to the table but the grind is so abysmal, the exemplar point rates so horribly low, and above all the fact that it encourages botting and buying from RMT that I think this is a botched implementation. I think exemplar point rates need to be greatly increased across the board and the evasion/magic evasion of Apex empty reduced so you do not need a full array of support job players to reach the accuracy requirement. The fact that 10 more master levels have been added and they have not addressed any of these problems is terrible design imo.
Imo using overcap JP for something is a good idea. Using it as JP for another job is not tho. It's completely out of immersion to get master PLD playing BRD. Merit system had many tabs that were used for all jobs and they probably didn't know how to split merits into "for all jobs" and "job specific", so they did what they did. Job Points progression and gifts are completely job specific tho and using job points from other jobs shouldn't be allowed. Same for Exemplar points. You want that Master Level on GEO? Play GEO. Getting JP and EP on specific jobs also force you to update your macros and gear. Worse that I can imagine is some Mastered ML20 RDM with no gear/macros and no experience in even casting right debuffs and undercapped magic, because he was able to master and ML20 his RDM with his WAR... Also GEO for sure isn't required for prom mobs. COR is also not needed to kill them fast, it's more about Corsair's roll being biggest buff to EP gain/h than anything else.
Ah, yes, because we should be forced to play a job at extremely underperforming levels even if we have all gear for it for multiple days just because it "breaks immersion" and "people wouldn't know how to play their jobs" - Reality check: Most people never knew how to play their jobs, still don't, and people regularly bot or buy afk slots in parties to master their jobs. Gear still makes the most difference, and again, reality check: I have my full 5/5 maxed out JSE gear and tons of 100% BiS items from doing... literally nothing on my sch that's exclusive to the job. I just played it as a gimp whm or blm to get unlocks. Because, again, reality check: It's really not worth learning how to actually play a job if you're missing the vast majority of stuff that even makes the job work. SAM's tp gain nearly doubles from 0 JP to 2100 JP. You gain the ability to cap zanhasso, you gain 8% more tp, you gain WSD, etc. etc. - These elements completely and utterly change how the job's played, to the point my 99 0JP sam was basically just a gimped drg, and my 2100 JP sam is actually unique and has like notably higher tp gain than any other job I play, which includes pretty much every melee job. And it gets even worse when you start looking at non-melee. Geo can't even really start thinking about making MAB sets until 100 JP because they're stuck with T4 nukes. SCH doesn't get double weather until 100 JP making main sch and sub sch pretty much literally identical. PUP can't even use it's full attachment setups until 1200 JP, which is it's entire job identity. BLM is nearly identical to scholar until 100 JP, and for years wasn't even considered endgame worthy until 1200 JP because of how important access to death was. Despite having gear, including even REMAs, for multiple jobs, I basically can't use them until I spend multiple days sitting there mindlessly killing bats, when I have 500 JP available for... basically zero use on my 5 jobs I already have mastered. Spending 3-4 days killing bats solo, or afking in someone's party, or spending a day with the LS killing stuff in crawler's next or something, doesn't teach me a single thing about how to play RDM/NIN solo, or how to aoe tank on pld, or how to do 6-step SCs on sam, or how to setup a pup's automaton for overdriving fights, or how to AFAC burn on smn, or how to solo heal a dyna D run as whm, or how to be main healer + SC opener + MBer on sch while running around sortie, or how to do zero tp gain strats with mnk. Literally any job can get full nyame, go to dho gates, and beat the [redacted] out of bats and crabs for 2100 JP solo. Any. Job. WHM, GEO, BRD, BLM, SCH and SMN included. That? That process doesn't teach you a single thing about how to play said job during actual content.
@@AtomicArtumas Reality check: it completely doesn't matter now, because getting JP is very easy on every job using AOE WS and you have Master levels now, which is way bigger grind that you can whine about. Also my post was written from developers mindset perspective (because you would need to convince them not some players) and they don't look at game thinking that immersion is not important and that paying Merc for JP grind is an option. There is tons of things in this game that is clear for gamers, but very controversial for developers.
Snake biting his own tail really, Grind is part of MMO life , but FF11 players want to do it in hours or few days now ..... And then ? ........... what is left after you are capped ? , nothing really ..... Same for Odyssey Gears, when done ...... You probably do Sheol for a 1m Gils / run ...... 15 years ago i was BST with a static duo .... and playing daily ( took me nearly 2 years to be 75 and geared .... ) and Yet , i had the most fun. So yeah , Big shiny , cover of Gold ... those Vets player with all +1 , capped and loaded ...... are what they are.... but have nothing to do for now ! Have your sins been forgiven today and forever? Think about this. The God of the bible, the One True God made us to worship him, obey him, and enjoy him forever. We break His laws daily by not putting Him first, not thanking Him like we should, we lie, we lust, we have sex before marriage, we dishonor our parents, we covet things other people have, we take God's name and use it in vain, we use it in a low manner, sometimes as a cuss word, (God is holy and even His name is holy), we don't love like we should, etc. In doing so we're saying He's not a good provider, He's a liar, He's untrustworthy, He's not worthy of praise. All these things and more are counted against us. The bible says God is the just judge of the world and one day He will settle the score for all the wrong we've done. God is holy meaning He is righteous (morally perfect in thought, word, and deed) It also means He is set apart and higher than us. God being good, must punish all sin or wrong doing in the world. This means that if you sin one time God will cast you in hell for eternity. Because He is good and He doesn't turn a blind eye to sin. But there is good news. 2000 years ago Jesus the Son of God came into this world and lived a perfect life ( He never sinned once) and He died on the cross taking the wrath that we deserve and paid the penalty for the sins we committed. The bible says that if you will repent (confess and forsake your sins) and trust in what Christ did on the cross (He took the wrath of God that was meant for you and I) then all your sins will be forgiven and when you die you will be in heaven with God and all who believe for eternity. Jesus died and on the third day He rose from the grave. Get right with God today don't wait. Once you die after that comes the judgement. Hebrews 9:27 It's the most important thing you can do. You must be born again John 3:7 If you repent and trust in what Christ did on the cross it shows that you've been born again or born spiritually. Right now you're dead in your sins and you can't see the beauty of Jesus Christ but after you trust in Christ all the things you hate about God like obeying him, serving Him, loving Him and others, reading the bible, praying and going to church you will love to do those things because God changes your heart. That's how you know you have been born again and forgiven. Please think long about this and ask me any questions you have as this is the most important thing you can ever think of in your life. An eternity in hell (darkness and a lake of fire the bible describes it, with weeping and gnashing of teeth) or an eternity out of that place and into the loving arms of God who is infinitely glorious, has infinite knowledge and has infinite power to do all that He pleases. You decide. Have a great day!

on the issues of bard geo and cor being needed, my friend and i had an..... inebriated discussion in it, where ive argued player offensive stats need to come up to 90% of what they would be under the effects of BRD & Cor, and all attack and accuracy related buffs for those jobs need to be reduced significantly. this would make it so its not impossible to play without a BRD /COR, and they are still useful to bring. my argument is ultimately, that a good bard or cor, puts up a ridiculous amount of damage as it is, and offsetting their buff power would be best for the health for the long run of this game. yeah... they need to do something with jobs already over cap for this sort of thing, and pronto, especially if they intend to leave this grind.
Well one other option is for then to take it slow with Master levels as the devs mentioned in previous interviews that they wanted to push content similar to ffxiv and with Master level cap + storied expansions breaking the caps is kinda achiveable as a long term plan. for those that missed the grind, here we go again. master level grind is a major pain
Will you ever do more lore videos like story lines or anything like that? ZM/cop/toau/wotg/seekers storyline explained videos would be dope
Was wondering if you think you'll ever make a Blm job guide? Love the vids
Yeah about the job points, and to me cause im a soloing fool. This is like starting over from square one, just more grinding,
