    Maaaan, you went full all out on this vehicle. Every little detail explained. I appreciate you for doing this. I've seen other videos that didn't explain much or shown much of what the Ascent has. But once again, I appreciate everything you've explained. I'm definitely getting one.

    Very thorough review. Appreciate discussion of third row. If you do sit with your leg kind of jutting into the middle, taking up a place and a half, which it is clear all adult-sized people will need to do back there, can you buckle up properly, or do you end up very uncomfortably having to sit on the seat belt dispenser thinggies (sorry I can’t think of correct term for these):

    New to Subaru and love the Ascent Touring model. The local dealer doesn't have one to view but will be ordering one, love the TH-cam video presentations.

    Is there a way to adjust the sensitivity of the auto dimming headlights. I find that they dim themselves quite often for no apparent reason. Conversely, I've also noticed the lights sometimes do not dim when there is a car coming right at you.

    Touring model is very nice, and I'm sure the rear captain chairs a more pleasant ride. However, when you fold all the seats down for cargo, there's a big hole in the floor. That's a huge negative for me, and for that reason I would have to have 8 passenger configuration.

    Anyone know if you can add the front view camera or smart rear view camera to a limited trim? I know it's not an option straight from the factory. Just wasn't sure if it's something the dealer could do at time of delivery. Wife hates the Java brown and we need the second row bench so touring is not an option

    Great review, I would like to see a demonstration of the seating in the 8 passenger, everything I see has the 7 seating. I drove one and it was a limited 7 passenger, seemed to have quite a bit of room in the 3rd row but that could close in on you quick with the bench seat.

    • @GroovesubaruDenver
      @GroovesubaruDenver  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree entirely. For younger kids the bench seat in the middle would still give you good leg room in the third row. But for older kids or adults to be comfortable in the third row, the 7 seater is the way to go. We will do another video with an 8 passenger configuration once we get one in stock. This car belonged to Subaru.

    • @DonP_is_lostagain
      @DonP_is_lostagain 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've got the 8 passenger Premium edition and the bench middle seat is great. Especially when you fold it down for cargo use. You do lose some leg room when the second row is pushed back.

  • @RicardoRoams
    @RicardoRoams 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    2nd row doesn't really fold flat with the captain's seats.

    • @DonP_is_lostagain
      @DonP_is_lostagain 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      nor with the bench. not completely flat like the third row does.

  • @Poptartles
    @Poptartles 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I know it sounds odd, but I would love to see what it looks like at night; Interior and exterior. Also, how would it look having the third row folded behind the captains chairs from an interior view?

    • @DonP_is_lostagain
      @DonP_is_lostagain 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It looks like a large cargo area. the third row folds flat, unlike the second row which folds down at a slight angle up. I have mine down all the time as I don't have kids or others to haul around.

  • @agnesdermake3716
    @agnesdermake3716 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is it true that premium gas is required to tow? Also, rear entertainment system? Remote start?

    • @DonP_is_lostagain
      @DonP_is_lostagain 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Touring has remote start as a key fob, however the other levels have the MySubaru app that will remotely start the vehicle. Cool thing about the app is you can set whether or not you want a delay as well as how long you want the car to idle, AND you can also set the A/C or heat temps.

    The one thing missing in most of the Ascent video's is the Family aspect. What I mean is, they advertise this car to be family friendly, and I would agree to a certain degree. I am currently looking at this car for a family of 5, and this would not be a problem, if my kids where out of car seats, but given that they are, fitting car seats into the Ascent is not easy and given that the car seats are the size that they are, I had trouble trying to get 3 fitted comfortably. Even putting 2 in the back to free up one of the seats in the front did not work in giving the kids enough room to seat comfortably. Also, once the car seats are in (2 in the back, and 1 in the front) access the 3 row to make sure the kids are buckled in is a task in itself because the 2nd row seats do not slide or fold to allow an adult enough room to buckle them in. This is a problem that I think keeps this car from being a true capable family car when dealing with car seats of 3 or more. 2 car seats, are probably not going to be an issue, but 3 is a problem. They need to take a page from the VW Atlas and GM Treverse that allow the 2nd row seats to tilt and fold with a car seat still latched to access the 3rd row. I wont to buy an Ascent, and I know car seats are not forever, but 5 years of having to deal with it is certainly a long time. The ride quality of the Ascent is far superior to the VW Atlas, but you can't beat the space that you get in the Atlas and Treverse.

    Can't order above the Premium model w/o being forced to take 20 inch pimp wheels, and can't get Nav & sunroof on the Premium model without same horrid oversized wheels. Also unclear to two of my local dealers (who don't have inventory yet) if there's a trailer brake controller included with the tow package. I dunno - I'm a long-time Subaru owner/fan, but don't think I'd gamble $40k on a brand-new engine design, and a Subaru CVT supposedly able to tow up to 5000 lbs. when their Outback/Impreza CVTs have had reliability issues. Maybe in 2-3 model years to see how it works out, which is about how long it took Subaru to get the H6 engine right.

    This 360 view isn't as functional as say the Infiniti QX60, or VW Atlas, where it gives you the complete bird's eye view of the vehicle, which is really nice for pulling into a parking spot for such a wide and long suv. I really wish Subaru came out with something like that and not just 180 degree at the rear and front bumpers for their "360 degrees". They're missing the sides, which are likely areas of scraping/brushing against things while parking.
