      @@MyGreenCloset It would be nice! Beauty gurus are for the most part expected to have a lot of expertise on beauty products, it's too bad fashion channels don't have the same expectation for technical knowledge!

      @@MyGreenCloset or them saying it's 'high quality' when just taking it out of the bag. How does it wear? Wash? Feel after a while?

    This was so helpful, thank you. I's from Denmark like Organicbasics, and were planning to buy from a few t-shirts from them, but they are pricy. Happy to hear that they actually are worth their high price point.. over here clothes is more expensive and it can sometimes be hard to figure out if you actually get more for the money or if it's just the brand you pay for.

    So good to see you include Everlane... specifically because they get so much attention for being Eco when they are not. The guy who started the brand saw an opportunity with the word transparency and tied it in with a massive marketing campaign around the same time that the True Cost made the rounds. When bloggers and TH-camrs started talking about sustainable and ethical fashion but not actually knowing a lot about what they were talking about, Everlane zeroed in on them and gave out a lot of free stuff... so they were included in everyone's "Listicles"...
    For us at Trend Privé Magazine we have spent a lot of years trying to teach people what to look for, and Everlane always gets asked about. Now we can simply send everyone to watch this video! 😊 Thank You!!
    Loved that you showed the bits like reinforcing the shoulder seam and how a person can test in store for themselves!! Very excited to find your channel. Well done, and keep going! (Request for white button up shirts, black pencil skirts, basic sweater and LBD so we can send people your way...)

    I have three Pact shirts. Two are like the one here, a light cotton with definite twisting. I don't mind, because I kinda like the slouchy look and the price is right for me. The third one is a thicker cotton and lays so well. It's one of my favorites, but it isn't available anymore. I never really thought through why it's a better shirt, but hearing all your descriptions of fabrics and sewing, I understand now. Thanks for doing this! I love research like this :)

    This was super interesting! I really liked hearing about the technical construction side of the shirts, and the shoulder situation - I think shoulders and armpits are often places that don't fit right for me but it's easy to accept that its just how a style fits - doesn't have to be the case!

    I found this video SO interesting! I loved how you went through all about the construction of the clothing and the way they fit. I think those were the most helpful parts because you have knowledge to talk intelligently about it. I will admit that when I saw a 28 minute video it was a little daunting, but while I was watching it it was all very interesting and pertinent, so I wouldn't have cut anything out. I would definitely love to see something similar on a more structured piece!

    This is really helpful, information about the fit as well as the quality etc. The fitting info was the most helpful as this can be really hard to tell from pictures. I also like that when you tell us something about the quality you explain WHY rather than just saying “it seems good quality” like a lot of other youtubers do.
    To me, despite being a well paid accountant, all these t shirts are expensive in my eyes so it’s good to get all this info BEFORE buying. Somehow none of these are my preferred style of t shirt (I like a more boxy fit) so it’s saved me bringing an item into my closet that I wouldn’t wear. Would love videos like this on period undies!

    Omg... please do more of these types of videos! It was super educational and we all need to know more about the functional tailoring and manufacturing of our clothing so that we can begin to distinguish quality as consumers. I think if we can analyse fit and fabrics to determine the quality of our clothes we will be able to make informed choices and select fewer but better clothes that last much longer than your typical fast fashion merch. So thank you for taking the time to go over these brands and educate your viewers! Please do more!! I'd love to see reviews on button-up shirts, jeans, and, if possible, suits for women. I've noticed that quality in suits for women is significantly lacking. Maybe also look at brands such as Reigning Champ, Lady White Co., and PeopleTree. And perhaps even sports/active wear like Fjallraven and Patagonia.

    I just found this video and I want to say thank you for your incredibly detailed and thorough review of these products! I so appreciate you taking the time to not only wash the pieces, but to wear them out three times so you could give honest and realistic feedback about what it's like to actually own the pieces. As you said, there is so much more to a garment than a first impression. Perhaps you did include this, and I missed it, but the only additional piece of info I would like would be the fiber content of each tee. Or maybe they're all simply 100% cotton! Anyway, thank you so much for this video! So incredibly helpful and informative :)

    I love this! Thank you so much for showing the comparison. Like Pact, Everlane has a lot of variation in quality. I have their box-cut tee, which has noticeably thicker fabric than their regular tees, and has a really nice shoulder reinforcement - I don't know the name of the stitch, but it's a finished strip of fabric that looks more like the outside of a shirt. Also says "Made in Los Angeles" on it. :)

    I think, so far, this was one of my favorite videos so far! Even though t-shirts are a basic, that are widely available, finding a high quality, good fitting one, is something I struggle with. I cant say, what I liked most about it. I really enjoyed learning about what to look out for, in something as basic as a simple tee: fabric, construction, stitching, hems etc. also liked, how you talked about how tshirts can feel more casual/formal depending on those factors. To me, quality is no 1 most important aspect (If they have good work ethics, but the quality doesn't do it, I wont wear it). So maybe that might be a tad more important to me, than ethics, but knowing what (and also how differently) the companies contribute was also really informative!

    I absolutely love how deep you go into analyzing these shirts! I personally don't know anything about the quality of clothing or the process of making garments so I always like to listen to people who actually know something about it! (especially when I feel like a lot of TH-camrs just call anything that fits and isn't falling apart a good quality item)

    Wow this was such good stuff. I'm thankful I never bought any Everlane pieces before learning that they weren't as sustainable/ethical as they claim to be. My two favorite brands right now are Prana and Tentree but I must admit that I've not researched either throughly, nor have I put such scrutiny into the quality of the pieces I've purchased. Very eye opening and fascinating stuff you pointed out in this video. Loved it!!

    This was extremely helpful, as I've gone back and forth between purchasing basic tees from pact vs. organic basics. My everlane tees from 2.5 years ago have holes in the fabric + now are used for practical clothing.

    I. Loved. Everything Nit-picking and all! Such in-depth and varied reviews are rare, and your way of presenting the garments' details is also very educational! Thank you so much!! It also really shows that you stand behind what you say and were excited about the subject of the video. So, keep doing what you're doing, it's going great.
    Personally, I'd love to see a video comparing and reviewing yoga pants/leggings/skin tight athletic wear, as that's something I've been searching for but am afraid to decide on. Undergarments are another interesting (though personal) subject for such a review, as they are the ones that get the most wear!

    Great video being a sewer I found your review really interesting and helpful around fabric and cut. I shop at Everlane a lot. 2 reasons . 1. Their size chart is superior giving more measurements than most and so online buying is more reliable. 2. I like their style and their shipping is free over a certain price which makes some of these others brands look really expensive particularly with exchange rates. Yes there are problems but with my body shape and size I feel confident ordering there much more than other brands where the sizing is more hit and miss. ITs a compromise currently but I hope that their investment in reputation in response to the bad publicity will improve their operation. You also have to remember that this is an American brand where labor laws are really weak and they have an appalling minimum wage and working conditions anyway. I live in Australia and our conditions are far superior from wages to leave entitlements and health care etc.

      Sometimes the most sustainable option is the option that ACTUALLY fits and that you will wear. Some of us need a really good sizing chart! I’ve been searching for years and Everlane jeans are the only ones that I have found that fit me comfortably.

    Thank you so much for doing this video as well as for discussing the brand ethics of Everlane! Recently I had noticed their comment sections blowing up on instagram with constant complaints about items not getting shipped on time or ever being shipped at all and I was starting to lose trust with them because of that. Having more information about their company helps me to be a more informed consumer, so thank you!

    I loved all the detail. I would like more videos like this especially with your opinions on the construction. I’m trying to get into ethical fashion but it seems like that is starting to become a real marketing gimmick, so it’s helpful to see reviews like this to help me determine who is worth supporting.

    I loved your long and detailed video and all the energy that went into assessing the tshirts properly and explaining clearly all the reasons why. I liked that for people who don't know a lot about knit fabrics, you explained the nature of how the fabric behaves and why this matters. Your extensive research into their sustainable and ethical practices as well as new things or patterns that you have noticed really makes the video worth while. Its nice to get all the information in one place and a single longer video is better than 2 or 3 shorter videos where you have to hear the same thing multiple times and hope that you get enough information together to complete the picture yourself. This was probably the best review video I've ever seen. Thank you for the time, effort and care that went into this video and I hope you continue with this style and length in the future. It might be good to do a video like this on undergarments and bralets if you're comfortable. Perhaps get a plus size friend to help with larger bust and bottom/leg sizes and levels of support.

    This is one of the best comparison videos I've seen! I love that you do such a wide variety of brands! I have been an Everlane fan (fit/construction/style) since 2013, but am also worried about 1/ ethics and 2/ how "fast fashiony" some of their marketing feels in recent years. I dislike that, once you find a staple you love, you can't get it again - they've moved on to something else -- examples, their U-neck tees and their original cashmere cardigans. I recently recycled most of my 5-7 year old U Necks, and tried the Organic Basics. I found the sizing ran really small, and they shrank a little too much when I washed them (both the white and black, so not a temperature/wash issue (I tumble dry just about everything but silks/sweaters on low). I am looking at Kotn and Armed Angels now. I love OB's ethics - I'll try them again for something, but I also didn't like the feel/softness of these as much as I'd hoped. Just in case anyone else is still shopping! I'm usually a S/M, got the M, and will be reselling or donating ASAP because the arms are too tight (my bicep is 11.5"-12"). I am enjoying your channel! Cheers!

      @MyGreenCloset  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for sharing your experience! I'm really surprised OB shrunk so much for you, I found it barely shrunk and was actually one of the best for shrinkage with almost no change in the before and after measurements. I wonder if it has to do with the dryer?

    • @rebeccab_bwlt
      @rebeccab_bwlt 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MyGreenCloset Perhaps! The sleeves were just tight afterward! I’m sure it was the dryer. It is hard on clothes, but I haven’t had a shirt shrink like this (especially when it said dryer safe) in a long time... I have some Kotn items in my cart that I’m thinking about trying. (Tees and a turtleneck.)

    This is exactly what I was looking for! It's so difficult to know what to buy when you would like to be more environmentally conscious with so much green washing. I often feel I end up spending so much time researching and paying so much money and yet I'm still not sure if I have been cheated by the brand. Loved this type of video!
    It would be helpful every time you say something about a garment to pop the picture of it on the screen, so that we don't get confused. You did that almost every time though. Great job!
