    Hi I love your garden😍I’m also in zone 8b I have a small garden of my own. The plant you think is a Serrano is actually a cayenne pepper The Serrano has a thicker skin like the jalapeño.

    My butter crunch lettuce went to bolt really fast in South Carolina. My Romaine and red leaf lettuce are still producing. For cilantro I grow it throughout the year. Sprinkle seeds throughout the season.

    It's great to find other 8B gardeners! It seems that we are few here in Texas. Well at least on TH-cam.

    Love the blueberry reaction! We are pulling a few peppers and tomatoes and cooking them for dinners and salads. The taste is so amazing compared to the grocery. The reaction from my manly teenaged boys...empty plates and lots of full tummies!

    Hey friends I'm Abel and I miss having a large garden. I am also in USDA zone 8b Dallas, TX. Sadly I container garden now. I went from having a 3-acres garden outside Omaha, Ne a few years ago to container gardening.

    I think cilantro is one of those that are most efficient if it’s planted in succession. Leaving one to flower to collect it’s seeds.

    I’m in zone 8b also. Mostly focused on flowers and vines for now. But enjoying gaining inspiration for veggies in the future. Thanks for your informative videos!

    So happy to have found your channel!
    We are buying an old farm-house with land in rural France (we’re in zone 7b-8a, but recent years climat is more behaving like zone 8a-b) and are also learning a lot about gardening and growing our own veggies and totally share your enthousiasm!

Your garden is much more organized than mine and we have mostly the same plants except I have a lot of okra which you can still plant! I would love to connect, I love this style of video

    Oh my goodness, your dog looks so much like ours!! I wonder if they could be related 😅 we did a DNA test for our girl and she has a sister/daughter in New Jersey, we are in Texas. Shelters ship dogs around!
    Anyways, lovely garden. Such beautiful plants and layout. We did container gardening last couple of years and are going to move to raised beds this year.

    Hello, we are excited too. Our garden looks so similar to yours and everyday we go out to see that our scarlet beans have grown another couple cms. Thank you for sharing. Also think that your tomato plants might need more pruning just from the videos that I have been watching recently. Thankful to have found your channel. We are also in zone 8B 😊

    • @likeweeds7480
      @likeweeds7480  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      KP Bholah I’m so glad you found the channel too! It’s great to connect with kindred spirits. I’ll have to add scarlet beans to my list of things to grow. Are they kidney beans? You’re quite right about the tomato plants. I’m afraid I may have let them overwhelm me, then hacked them back. You’ll laugh when you watch our next tour. 😬😆

    You might be using a cilantro that’s not used often for culinary purposes. If they bolt and get seeds, they won’t taste good. You have to harvest before that

  • @saintmig1101
    @saintmig1101 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Cilantro likes cool weather- like lettuce and spinach- it bolts easily but save the seeds to re-sow or use as them as a spice (coriander ) for cooking

    This is zoneB and was taped in May? Where about are you located? I'm in WA state and there's no way you live near me so I'm totally confused because I'm in zoneB! I can't believe you had cucumbers and watermelons already? You're garden is looking great!

    • @likeweeds7480
      @likeweeds7480  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Natalie Aaby hey Natalie! We’re in South Carolina - which is a little less rewarding this time of the summer. Lol. It’s been so hot out there the past couple months, I can’t even bring myself to water lately. It’ll be a real jungle when I get back to it. 😅

    • @natalieaaby7002
      @natalieaaby7002 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@likeweeds7480 It's so bizarre how we are in the same zones but there's NO way I could grow what you are growing here. We have soooooo much rain and have only had a handful of days this entire summer where it has even reached 70degrees. I'm learning that "zones" are not exactly reliable...so when I see other's TH-cam videos who are apparently in my zone, I've got to take into account where that person lives because there is a MAJOR difference and I was beating myself up thinking I was doing something wrong comparing my garden's progress. My cucumber's won't be looking like your's did until late August!

    • @likeweeds7480
      @likeweeds7480  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@natalieaaby7002 That is so interesting and weird. I'm super susceptible to feeling pressure with it too. I've had to step back a little lately and remind myself the garden is meant to be something fun and peaceful. It's helping to take a heat break. I bet you have great luck with peas, spinach, things like that. My peas lasted about a month and then fried up. All my lettuce is done now too. Not sure if that's typical? Good luck with your garden! Keep us updated. :)

    • @natalieaaby7002
      @natalieaaby7002 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@likeweeds7480 yes our peas are going bonkers and we can continue to plant more of them throughout the summer because we don't get the high heat you do (but yah, depending on the type of peas, after they fruit, they last about five weeks here before the bottoms dry up). We can grow lettuce and spinach still (but because of our random heat and then cold during the summer, it typically bolts and isn't tasty...or the slugs get them because of how much rain we get so I have stopped bothering to grow those unless I'm just doing microgreens in the greenhouse) I wonder if you could do swiss chard there? Maybe something to look in to...I think it's a little less sensitive so you might be able to grow it there?
      Anyhoo, I wish there was a different way of "zoning" us so we don't feel like crap when our things don't grow!🤣 I tried watermelons three years in a row and at best, I got one to the size of a baseball...it just doesn't stay warm long enough here. Our blueberries are just NOW ripening...(and we are both zone b)...so weird!

    I love this tour! I hope you don't come to regret the Wisteria like I did. It's difficult to deal with in a working area and requires heavy and regular pruning all through summer once its grown! It will also topple structures so watch out for that! Love the kitties and chickens!

    I have a backyard garden to-not as pretty as yours but hey it grows food. i have greenstalk's garden towers, 3 & want more- love to grow lettuce/greens/beans/farm peas/herbs in them-clean garden/space saving-hubby rigged overhead water drip -luv! have kiddie pools with grow bags & 5 gallon buckets for bigger things like squash/peppers/eggplants/tomatoes. grew tons of potatoes in 5 gall-hollisNancyhomestead-itworks!! cilantro/parsley thrive in fall/let some seed for polllinators. please dig up wisteria & put in a large pot or 2, pull up any shoots from ground- you'll have a nightmare on your hands in a couple years unless ya pot it.- super invasive. grow some comfrey plants for your chickens (comfrey-seedsforgenerations or permapasturesfarm). Hoss tools has tons of non-gmo hybrid seeds with disease resistance pkgs (they are great)& best germination rate- will NEVER go back to buying seeds from a box store--+ Hoss has lots of helpful videos and they are in south Ga, so they deal with some of your climate- TH-camrs-Jess/rootsnrefuge recently moved to SC to, leadfarmer73 is in SC/homestead heart is in middle Ga/i'm south of them-. I grow heirloom so i always have backup seeds saved if things ever really go south in the country but use open pollinated and hybrid seeds alot. Loved your tour!
