Hello Lowko, I really need to write you some tips for warcraft 1 :) - Static defense made out of units is the most efective way how to kill enemy attacks, but there are some important things, how it should be done. First you need to find all choke points leading to your base (usually 2 bridges) on each you want to have eventually like 5 fully upgraded spearmans/archers, 2 catapults, and one rider/knight, this is enough for defense for all lategame missions maybe apart from the last two, where you don"t need to defend at all becuse of deamons/watter elementals are avalable. In general you dont want to micro your unit during defense, apart from defending against catapults. Line of 5 ranged unit will kill any single mele unit without loosing any HP, and since computer sending them in groups, the catapults allmost always kill everithing apart from first unit. Then next crucial thing is to have map explored in front of your defense at least bit more than is range of catapults (ideally much more), and you need to look for one coming. When this happens, you just take a single rider and rightclick it, this is only active part of defense that you need to do. Also some more tips about general things: - Peon will stop working, only if they are attacked or completely blocked from moving by any reason. - Necrolytes (the other casters) are invaluable with their second spell "unholy armor" which makes any of your unit completely invulnerable, it is oposite to alinace invisibility and it is massive, one rider fully upgraded can usually kill all defensive archers with unholy armor. With micro like yours, with like fife of those, you would be able to clear whole base with ease. - building couldnt be started, if the area isnt fully explored and they needs to be max one space away from another bulding and conected to path - wall could be used to create some artificial choke points since computer usually dont destroy them at all, and try to walk around, which could be massive in some mssions, and can be build up to 2 tiles away from any of your building (not path) - there is no attack move in W1 :D Sorry for bothering, but I need to write at least something. I really like your content, keep doing great job!
Alas, the frustrating part of these videos is that the entire playthrough has been recorded in advance - so posts like these can only benefit viewers checking the comments on this video. I've been quietly begging him to build Kennels and use Raiders for several videos now, but he seems to have managed to convince himself that the strongest non-magical melee unit in the game is bad without actually building any.
Yeah, it's honestly so frustrating to hear him talk about how advanced units suck when he doesn't even build any...then he also complains that the enemy advanced units are too strong and wonders how to counter them 🤣🤣🤣
I disagree; Necrolytes primary use should be Unholy Vision, and then just build spearmen, and warlocks, but you need the occasionally pair of wolf riders to take care of catapaults. Awlays just use summon demon, as soon as you get it.
The strat for all warcraft 1 lvls. Body block the bridge with grunts/foot men. A line of ranged behind that, mix in a catapult. Send in a fast mounted unit to draw in the enemy defenders to the bridge. They only rebuild their attacking forces, not their defenders. After the defenders are dead.send in summons to finish off the buildings.
Casters in Warcraft 1 seem to deal more damage because their attack is Piercing, allowing it to Ignore Armour (which does kind of make sense, you wouldn't really expect Plain Old Armour to stop a Fireball would you)
I remember achieving critical mass with spear/xbowmen where they could kill w/ 1 volley, I kept a few grunts as blockers in the front and to intercept catapults but my army was 90% ranged
Warcraft II was the bomb! We used to play that multiplayer a lot! Used a service called Kali to connect over the internet way before they released the battle net version. You might like to play WarCraft II one day Lowko. Lots of good memories of those days.
I feel like the brought the GOG versions of War 1 and 2 over to battlenet back in January just to stick them in this battle chest. Also seems like some people might be missing that you're technically getting five games in that. The GOG ones are the unaltered, so it's easy enough to compare the changes (like not having to press M to even move the mouse around the map).

Nice tips, im stuck at this mission.

29:17 I believe the "left click only" design was for easier compatibility with Apple/Mac computers at the time.
For the record, the voice actor for the main Human and Orc voices in Warcraft 1 & 2 is Bill Roper.
Finally ! Our Warchief has returned !

how long will it take lowko to realize there is no attack move?

Look at Lowko, adapting and overcoming xD

Hello Lowko,
Create a tower, now you can create Demons. That will brake the game with the Orks.
I bet he will summon one, complain that is too slow and never use them again.
damn this was frustrating to watch.
tried the demo for Wow, didn't care for it
