Although it only reached #26 in the USA I remember it being hot in the dance clubs and the college campus for a long time after. It was even used in a local TV commercial. The song packed a lot of power. So sad these lost classics haven't been played on mainstream oldies stations for years now.
As a child growing up in the 70s decade and of all the music acts i had seen perform on tv on all types of music shows back them from American Bandstand,The Scene,Donny & Matie,Captain & Tenille,Mike Douglas and Merv Griffin Shows, ive never heard of this group and never saw them perform on any music show id seen during that decade and just now had seen them on TH-cam this year of 2023!!!. Looking at the comments here, I may be able to clarify the Luan Peters/Tina Charles situation. 1. Tina Charles sang on the record. 2. Luan Peters sang on this video in the "Top Of The Pops" studio and also appeared on the record sleeve. 3. After "I'm On Fire", Tina embarked on a successful solo music career. She was replaced in 5000 Volts by Linda (real name Lynda) Kelly - who had a blonde hairstyle vaguely similar to Luan's - for the band's next single, "Dr. Kiss Kiss". Sadly, Luan (d. 2017) and Lynda (d. 1998) are no longer with us. According to Wikipedia, "...in 2010, [Tina Charles] went on tour with 5000 Volts, the band with which she experienced her first hit record." Tina was reported by the "Sunday Express" in 2016 as living with her third husband in Surrey. HTH.
My doubt was clarified with this good comment, however the musical group was very good and Tina's voice is, was and will always be great, good performances and performance of the other artists. Thanks and greetings from Mexico. 👍🙋❤️
I'm afraid you are incorrect my friend, Luan Peters didn't sing in this video, she was chosen to lip sync because Tina Charles was deemed to not have the right image. You can clearly hear the version showing Tina Charles and Luan Peters is identical in every way and subsequent recordings by Tina Charles clearly prove it was her vocals. Here's the article that is the correct story: "Peters did get to appear on Top of the Pops with a chart single a couple of years earlier, but this was under somewhat dubious circumstances. The band 5000 Volts had a hit with I’m On Fire, but the record label decided that vocalist Tina Charles (who would later have a briefly successful solo career) didn’t have the right ‘look’, and so replaced her with Peters who lip-synced her vocals and appeared on the record sleeve". However you are correct in saying that Linda Clark sang on Dr Kiss Kiss
