The schmaltzier but more technically complex 1972 non-Velvet Underground version. Tried to navigate through the song playing Steve Howe's guitar parts. My guitar is played loudly in right channel throughout

Simply epic cover/playthrough. So impressed with your playing here. I confess its not a favourite of mine, the track or the album which is very patchy & low key solo debut album. I don't think Reeds heart was in it, hence the recycling of VU material. I don't really like Transformer either and I think I recall Mick Ronson (?) saying Reed would not sing on the Transformer tracks until the studio was empty. Transformers success is testament to the commitment and creativity of Bowie and Ronno. Berlin on the other hand is a masterpiece. And by all accounts that had a very difficult conception and release.
I really like the diversity of artists and choice of material you've posted. There are tracks I would never normally listen to but your covers have given me more appreciation of them. And I love your Tele and GS!
Thanks man! Its very hit and miss, that first album. Its all technique and not much feeling. I can't believe how weak the song Berlin is on that album compared to the one at Bataclan with John Cale. I prefer his darker albums and yeah, the album Berlin is a masterpiece.
I used to prefer the VU version of this song here, its more pure but there are loads of versions of that on here and its not that hard to play so I thought I'd challenge myself. Steve Howe is an amazing guitarist.
Thanks for watching some of my other videos, I had a list I was working thru but life/work got in the way. I might do a couple of My Bloody Valentine songs next but played live in my van without the song in the background. Its weird what people take to on YT, this one has done fairly well by the standards of my recent videos but some of them don't even show up in the listings properly.

Yeah, it's a hit and miss album. Its not as pure as the Velvet Underground or as cool as Transformer but there's some nice stuff. Steve Howe and Rick Wakeman are brilliant musicians even if they don't completely fit with Lou Reed's style. I love the version of Ocean from this album as well
