IMPRESSIVE! Not only does this young fella have fire in his fingers, but a well timed sense of humor as well. Never heard of him before, but I'll never forget him now. Blaze on and keep pulling magic from those frightened strings!
Wow.. he can do anything. Great playing and a great sense of humor. There's obviously a lot more I should be doing with my telecaster that I've not tried yet!
i've seen him in concert and have met him personally, that dude is hilarious, very cool guy. Great guitarist, like at Strathmore when he was part of a Bob Dylan tribute.
Bill Kirchen is the best! His "Hot Rod Lincoln" licks grabbed me 40 years ago and they are still a thrill. On the one record I wait for the moment the Commander says "Here we go!" Bill is better than ever.
wow, what a Telecaster in the rite hands can do... Commander Cody & the Lost Planet Airmen were one of the acts that got me into country music in the 70's...them & Gram Parsons. Had to trace it on back...
You have to be an old coot like me to remember but ford used to build an eight cylinder v 12 Lincoln flat head engine in the late 40 s and early 50 s. The original record lyrics said it had 12 cylinders and used them all
correct sir. a friend of mine has a '66 tele he bought new at a music store in Dayton..still has all the case candy too..a closet queen! (he's a bass player) real nice blonde w/rosewood fingerboard mmm mmm mmm
I saw Commander Cody and the Lost Planet Airmen at Knebworth in 1979 on the same bill as Led Zeppelin complete with Bill Kirchen, possibly the most underrated guitarist in the world?
Anyone know what year his Tele is? Is that the same one he used when he was playing with Commander Cody? Interesting to see that it was once a sunburst when he turned it over.
Lost of Tele players ( me included) reverse the control plate on a Tele so the volume knob in handy to roll with your little finger making a wah effect of sorts. Big Ron

Definitely a killer guitar player.

Amazing! What an underated artist! Thank-You for the Post!
The control plate is backwards on his telecaster. I'm sure it's part of his distinct tone.
You gonna drive me to drinking if you dont stop driving that hot rod lincoln! Great video. Damn he had fun with that one.

I saw Commander Cody and the Lost Planet Airmen at Knebworth in 1979 on the same bill as Led Zeppelin complete with Bill Kirchen, possibly the most underrated guitarist in the world?
Flatt & Scruggs on a telecaster? I thought that would be impossible ! Incredible what this man still can do with a guitar ! F-a-b-u-l-o-u-s !
That's pretty awesome.
My favorite version, rockabilly is the best.
wow, I have to say Im impressed with this one to say the least
This is terrific. I like the version with full band better, but this was cool.
Wellllllllllllllllllllllllllllll Doneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...

@FlaminL Buck Owens and the Buckaroos, Merle Travis
wow that tele is versitile..
Whats the song called at 3:33? I believe Rick Lowe is the artist but can't remember the name of the song :(
It sounded like Wildwood Flower to me
Lukas MIglbauer *
Foggy Mountain Breakdown - famous in the movie Bonnie and Clyde.

Bill Kirchen is the guitar God

Big Ron
now thats entertainment
could someone please tell me what riff is he playing at 3:42?
+Justin Ryan It is a banjo tune: Foggy Mountain Breakdown by Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs
not really it just makes it easier to access the tone and volume pots for swells :)
What's the song that begins at 3:10 ? And did he say Buck Owens and ...?
a fender tube amp would be your best bet.
A tube amp dimed yet clean with the neck pickup... try high trble bass and mids, to push your tone, and really dig into the strings...
@calvin abts: Probably not... unless you replace the body AND the neck with 130 year old Adirondack pine ones. :D
it's : a johny cash song , a boy cold sue
What song may I ask
I Mr K playing at around
3:33 to about 3:41 ?

What is this guy, 8 feet tall? Makes that Tele look like a Les Paul!
How could I get a tone like that with my Tele? I have a Spider IV. Anyone know?
