This man has become known worldwide and has performed in places others will never be able to despite their training and self-proclaimed fame. Let's give him the credit he deserves.
I saw Paul at a concert in the UK a few months ago. I had bought tickets for myself and my 53 year old daughter, who isn't into opera. She didn't think she would like it as much as she did. Everything from opera to Queen. It was a lovely concert.
I cannot help but admire him for doing this. Years later he performed this at the Kiev Opera House and by then you can tell he had developed - Maybe you would appreciate that later version more.
perfect? no. entertaining? yes. and as you say, any attention brought to your art is definitely a plus. i love that you always keep it real. giving honest feedback and honest reactions will set you apart from others who like to ooh and ahh at everything- even if they don't necessarily care for it. 📸
@@maggiereneemusic For someone who knows nothing about singing techniques, in extremely simple terms, how do you immediately recognize he isn't the calibre of a professional opera singer? Is it the power? The tonality and timbre? Overall control? I'm curious because to my uneducated ears, it just sounds like a guy singing well.
I agree. Paul’s voice and his touch is beautiful. Can he improve? I’m sure we all can in the things we are going for. But Paul’s singing brings tears to my eyes. It goes to the heart. 😊👍🦅🎸
I think he does have training now and does sound better . I think this recording was a few years ago. He sang in Kiev opera house and was very good technically. Much smoother. Thank you for your comments
I'm nobody famous or known well throughout I like music. with utmost respect to you and all official professional operatic singers. I have never once heard or anyone claimed that Paul Potts is a professional or the best opera singer. People who listens to classical music often relates to operatic music because of some of the characteristics or technique they hear in the vocals. Sometimes people might call it classical or opera kind of music.People can call the music they listen to whatever they want if they so choose to. Maggie mentioned "clearly they know who He is cause they came up for autographs and stuff like that", actually Paul Potts the humbled man who said he loves to sing opera songs is not just known in Oberhausen Paul Potts with an exquisite beautiful voice is known globally, through out the world. I've heard of Maggie Renee winning the Opera Grand finalist award but nothing globally
I second that statement!! I always hear Maggie Renee announce proudly her professional Opera Training from Julliard, but I have never heard of seeing any of her acclaimed virtues while visiting Europe´s famous opera houses. Paul Potts has performed in several places and produced several CDs as well.
Maggie !Thank you for your analysis. There are two FLASH MOBS: CARMEN in the cafe Le5, and ODE TO JOY vocal accompanied performed at Banc Sabadel. Would like to hear your analysis of these please. Merci !
Not sure, But I thought I heard he studied under Pavroti in a Master level class. In any case, he has brought many into the world of Opera that would not otherwise have been there. Also, he does most of his performances in Europe where they do know Opera---and he has been very successful. Now, I love hearing you sing, but would you make it in Europe? I just know I love hearing you both. I would hope you would be drooling to sing with him instead of being negative about his skill.
Could you make someday a video detailing the differences between this kind of pop-crossover classical opera singing vs professional classical opera signing? :) I am really curious about those nuances and would love to learn something about them!
Insane the size of that opera house, well I guess it's the normal size? He really does have great vocal range. His voice could probably break glassware?🍷🍸🍷🍸🍷🍸🍷So amazingly awesome!!!👍🏾💯🔥
Hi my friend great reaction a young gentleman taking TH-cam by storm is ren -hi ren this video has had 3 million views in 2 weeks and it is pure genius worth a look and at the end has a great message not normally my kind of music but this one has a great message many thanks love and respect from the UK 👍👍👍👍👍👍🌟😀😀 amazing channel 👍
For BGT or a Flashmob he is terrific. And that boosts the world of opera to the world at large. And that is good. He will not ever make a living as a headliner in an A house? How many people can? (I believe we are watching someone on that road right now.) 📷
I find that sometimes, having "professionals" react to certain performers is counter-productive to the listening experience. Your points about technique may be spot on and valid but it seems that you (and other reactors) miss the humanity/heart of the performance and performer. Paul Potts didn't get famous or popular because he's the best he is popular because his voice reaches people and he so obviously finds joy in performing. Perfect can be boring, humanity is often times what people respond to. I could name many many singers who at the end of the day don't have the "best" vocals but have the ability to capture and audience with heart and sincerity. I wish it seemed like you actually enjoyed Paul, but oh well.
From my first experience of watching TH-cam clips of him on BGT I thought he had at best potential due to his range but also thought he needed to become better acquainted with Italian diction and voice placement. The talent show judges are not able to make informed opinions on the wide varieties of acts that they see and the audiences that vote are doing so on popularity and not on expertise displayed. Thanks for your “kind” reaction.
Jonathan Antoine who also performed on BGT as part of a Classical-Crossover duo with a girl called Charlotte was a much better Tenor and had a more operatic richness and resonance to his voice.
Before this reaction I thought Paul Potts had a great opera voice, but then again I'm not an opera expert I only listen occasionaly, Led Zeppelin has slanted my musical taste a bit. Thank you Maggie for this reaction and would love a couple of good suggestions for accomplished male opera singers.
Definitely not classical quality, but still a very beautiful performance. Thank you for reacting to this, Miss Maggie! I will be looking forward to more of your reactions! 😊
Hello, I'm Brazilian and I would like you to react to Inutilismo 2022 in a song "2022 em uma música" , which is a compilation of the best songs of the year.
React to Dimash Qudaibergen with Li Yugang Diva Dance Is Incredible too react to Cristina Britan's Ramos in got talent the Champions Is Incredible singer
Speaking as a retired classical musician, so long as Paul Potts is putting bums in seating and filling auditoriums, that's enough for me. There are so many things wrong with modern classical music that I don't know where to get started, and I have to say that a good many of us retired musicians are glad we're out of it. The mentality of the modern classical musician is a liability, and it's only getting worse as time goes by. Things started going off the rails in the 70's, coincidentally and oddly the high-water mark of sound-recording. The death of the purely professional orchestra was the end of real classical music. Musicians across the board no longer know how to "live inside the sound" as the saying goes. Back then we instinctively knew what this meant. Today, it would take at least a decade to impress upon the modern musician the meaning of those words.
That was a very fair and kind reaction. I really love this song. For something way out of your normal, what about Aurora and Waldruna's Helvegan? But not the one in the cave!

I am definitly hearing the tune that was used by Roberta Flack in "The first Time I Saw your Face".

I guess Opera has its standards but considering how the audience responded to Paul Potts he clearly made them feel what he was singing.
I'm conflicted by your comment because I've seen professional opera singers sing this song and Paul by far sings it better than any of them.
I agree. Paul’s voice and his touch is beautiful. Can he improve? I’m sure we all can in the things we are going for. But Paul’s singing brings tears to my eyes. It goes to the heart. 😊👍🦅🎸
Paul Potts is a legend for doing Nessun Dorma, proving he is a very talented salesman and meant for greater things.
I think he does have training now and does sound better . I think this recording was a few years ago. He sang in Kiev opera house and was very good technically. Much smoother. Thank you for your comments

Pure love !
I think he used to be a postman or salesman before BGT. So I think for his previous job, he's a great singer.
❤❤
You ought to watch him on BGT, a pudgy little carphone salesman who dreams of singing opera.

I understand that Paul did not train at Julliard like most of us unwashed masses, but I thought your comments were somewhat elitist.
You’re so beautiful
you sound very jealous 😂
