Currently looking into the career field of construction management as I am going into my second year of college and have to make a final decision on what path to take. Just commenting that this video explains it very well and definitely brings good insight to the career for me! Thankyou for the video, I'm probably going to declare construction management as my major after reading up on it a lot and seeing this!

@Prodigy Followed through and have been working for a mid-size general contractor that builds warehouses across the country! There were two internships I went through, both teaching a majority of what to expect. Most of the experience from internships is invaluable when graduating and applying for a full time gig. I'm a project engineer assisting with field operations and document control so it's a good 50/50 split between the office trailer and time on site. There is a boat load of responsibility and some stress that comes with it but writing down and tracking everything that needs to be done is the biggest factor in staying on top of it. Hours are long as well but for any decent size GC the pay is very good. I don't regret it and while it's still the same old grind as any other job, it's rewarding and enjoyable.

@@Matthew-ob9ml did you get a degree in Construction engineering or CM? I've been contemplating going to school for CM. I have 5 years mil as an ET and 8 years in the Semiconductor Technician field as an ET. Been a lead in both jobs as well. I hope my previous work experience can help with carving out a spot in the Construction industry. Some say I don't need a degree to get into CM, others say different. What should I do? I have a family so planning is important.

    Hi sir,
finally I'm writing my thoughts down here. Your channel has really inspired me. I spent a whole day going through your videos when I was preparing interviews for a site engineer role abroad, I'm soooo excited about this role. Even though it is true, I didn't realise how much this industry is worldwide saturated more importantly, how this has an effect on the everyday life of Indian engineers I grew up in India and 7 years before completed my B.TECH(CIVIL- ENGINEERING) and now I am doing normal civil engineer job in india !! This is so embraced and I feel this is a headache I still can't move abroad
I am trying it. I want to encourage Indian engineering students, especially those from the Indian community and with lack of English barrier and also it being their second language, to follow their dreams to become an engineer in Abroad.
Only one chance to give me I will perform definitely

The purpose of a degree is to accelerate career advancement. If you already have years of experience, the best way is to work your way up because your experience is valued. Reach out to management and show that you have an interest in a position and would like to learn the managerial side of the company. With little to no experience, the degree would be the best route with internships to gain experience. Hope this helps you or others

It is definitely worth the money. I'll be graduating with my construction science and management degree in 2019 and I've already had 3 internships and multiple offers with salaries ranging from $65k-$70k starting and great benefits like free healthcare, cost of living adjustments, ESOP/Guaranteed Retirement plan, great 401k benefits, car allowances, etc. It can be a big up front cost depending on where you go to school, but there is so much opportunity you can do with the degree. You can be a superintendent if you like being onsite, a project manager, estimator, business developer, you can go into sales, you can go to law school and have a wide variety career opportunities that way, there are just so many opportunities you can have with the degree. You'll also have a hard time finding a job that doesn't pay at least $60k starting out of college, whereas most college grads are only make around $40k-$50k out of school.

Go for bachelor's. Employers prefer bachelor's and you get paid higher
