people should remember the steve won his first two golds with andy holmes.who died last week at the age of only 51.another great oarsman.
R.I.P andy
"Is it worth it?".....5 Olympic Gold medals and a living legend who will be spoken about in rowing Folklore for a very long time......its been totally worth it Sir Steve!
No matter how many times I watch this video. I will always get chills running down my spine.
Goosebumps still in 2020!!!
No one will ever really understand the pain and suffering he went through to get these medals. He is quite possibly the greatest olympian of our generation. Arise Sir Steve
5 Gold Medals in Olympics.
9 Gold Medals in World Championships.
3 Gold Medals in Common Wealth Games.
Total 17 Gold Medals.
Sir Steve Redgrave (GBR) one of the greatest rowers of all time...
👍👍👍👍....
👏👏👏👏....
I was gonna quit rowing for my club, but then i whatched this video
Inspiring and honest ,just started rowing in the gym at 62 ,2000 metres in 8mins 57 sec ,love it !!
That's Twenty Years of being the absolute best in the world. Probably the greatest living Olympian - also doing it with Type 1 diabetes.
this gave me chills
watching his family slays me every time
a true legend!!! Great Britain salutes you Sir Steve!
These two men are two of Britain's best ever sportsmen. They deserve to be honoured. This video brings honour to them. They put life and limb on line to push for every last inch that they can to honour their country. Incredible video.
It's truly a modern odyssey...
absolute unit.
Fantastic. Thats possibly the best short rowing video I've seen. Very nicely done. I felt the hairs stand up on the back of my neck again.
Amazing, an outstanding video and great choice of music as well. Thankyou-spine tingling!
Wwwaaaaoooo Great man
Love from Lahore Pakistan Best wishes
Ten years on, you are truly our greatest ever Olympian Steve, one of the worlds best ever.
Always watch this before a 2000m piece....gets me through it.
I love you Steve Redgrave
4 years off hard work for 6 minutes of magic , you can’t beat that feeling
Brilliant video, makes a refreshing change to watch a well thought out and produced vid on here!
This actually made me cry :) Beautiful video. Thank you :)
Hats to you sir Redgrave
Still the greatest rowing video of all time
20 years of effort, no doubt about it, but 16 years of being the best!
sports personality or summit wasn't it? still, great video, very awe-inspiring. thanks for preserving a piece of history.
My respects - from Greece
Sir Steve!!! Un mito vivente!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i get goosebumps at the start of the race
I'm participating in a row to Russia for charity with work soon, I'll watch this clip for motivation.
Tears
This is honestly my favourite video of all time. What he achieved was absolutely amazing, the determination he has is mad! I was inspired to start rowing because of him, and British Rowing (and British Sport in general) are so lucky to have such inspirational and amazing role models!
Well made video BBC and thankyou for uploading :) x
Greatest Olympian of all time
thanks
@Mairsyboy It was a team effort, but he gold Gold in no less than FIVE Olympics. The Olympics is every 4 years. That means he has been consistently the best for 20 years! No other athlete can boast that kind of presence. This is why he was given a knighthood. He is a shining example of British Sportsmanship and probably the best sportsman these great isles have ever produced.
Sir Steve Redgrave is my rolemodel, mein Vorbild!!!
Legend
I wish the video had been shot to reveal more of Redgrave's rowing techniques, particularly his reach and the timing of his release and recovery, The human interest fluff that makes up most of this video is unimportant. How this extraordinary athlete moved in the boat was truly important. It's an opportunity lost.
superb.
I'm not gonna lie.... I shed a tear
@cobberzlion It is, but the duration between his first and last medal is from 1984 to 2000. 5 Olympic games requires a 16 year period.
The fact that I'm a rower is irrelevant... that put a lump in my throat.
@awrootbeerlover i think its called 'now we are free' its from the film Gladiator:)
"Good video! At the IMD OWP 2010 Matthew Pinsent will share his experience from four Olympic campaigns, which resulted in four gold medals. He will highlight the importance of goal setting, communication, trust and ultimately the courage it takes to win in the toughest of conditions.
"
20 years...
omg sick vid what is the song played in this video
my form group for school is called redgrave we love him !!!!
@empt60 no, 5 times 4 is 20
i fell sorry for the people that came last they lost so badly
well done
what is the know of the song?
For a country with a population that is a fraction of USA and China we sure do punch above our weight at Olympics Why because we are inspired by the likes of Redgrave Hoy Farah the Kennys Wiggins etc etc
@cobberzlion Serious, O.G.-4 years-O.G-4 years-O.G. 4 years-O.G. 4years-O.G. 5 Olympic games, 16 years between the first and the last.
fucking quaaaality video...
Hear, hear.
NEED A LOVE BUTTON
@PAINdoctor94 Tim Foster is a legend in his own right. I laugh when people call him the small one. He was ripped when I met him. He seemed to be a really nice guy as well.
@Nessiechan 16 years, but I agree with the rest ;)
@deathmonk1992
Athens Olympics versus the Canadian 4.
yeah he passed out
No doubt it's a great video, although its a shame you're taking the credit for it whilst not mentioning the fact that it's actually a BBC video.
music is a bit gay
3 people have no souls
has anyone got a video of Steve Rider interveiwing the rowers as they come off the boat only for him to totally be ignorant about Matthew Pinsent and keep looking over to Redgrave. I hated Rider and how but after that he became a poo smell.
6 people down voted this video! Muppets!!!!!!!
His daughter screaming "c'mon Bwitain" was priceless. The passion in her face brings a tear to the eye everytime I watch this video and i watch it on a regular basis anytime i need cheering up. Surely he has to light the Olympic flame in the stadium. Absolute legend.
