For Q2 of Historathon, I am going to be reading "Isabella: The Warrior Queen" I'm drawing a blank on the author, but it looks like it's going to be a great read.
Happy February Peg! I'm going to start browsing the university presses a little bit more to see if I can find something interesting that I can't find at Barnes & Noble or my local bookstore.
Oh no, I bought both of the books about Justinian and Byzantium, since they are both academic presses even the ebooks were expensive but for over 1000 pages for one and I think 700 or so for the other I'll break the budget. Seriously Peg this was a "fabulous" collection (does being a part Jewish grandmother count?) and there wasn't a single book I didn't want. I've made a note of the other books for future buys. I appreciate the detail in your discussion of the books. I've been thinking my history reading should be less European, so I'm thinking of adding in books of both American and Far Easter history.
Peg.... just finished reading "Shiloh and the Western Campaign of 1862" by O. Edward Cunningham. While I enjoyed it overall I was disappointed. Can you recommend a couple of good books on the Battle of Shiloh, PLEASE. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Best wishes... Ax.
I picked out The Longstreet book as a Christmas gift. I am more excited to read it since hearing your review of it. Actually chose it because I saw it on your channel earlier and it sounded so good.
I really want to read Longstreet. I have been looking for one. I am currently reading bill o’reilly’s killing Lincoln and the red prince John of guant by Helen carr.
Yes, yes I will. That sounds like a wonderful idea. Love the book choices Peg. I just got done covering Justinian in my world history class. That looks like a great book. I am going to have to hunt that one down. Justinian’s wife Theodora was an interesting character as well. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Peggy, I heard of a book recently and you probably already heard of it, but 'Accessory to War' by Avis Lang & Neil DeGrasse Tyson (2018). It's about how Astrophysics has been used in military strategy throughout history. I know you are interested in military subject, so thought I'd mention it.
I am definitely getting Justinian and Alexandria. Peter Sarris had a very interesting and good book covering the period from 500-700 called Empires of Faith. Founding Partisans looks good.

I can't wait to read the Longstreet book! I got it for Christmas and I'm excited to read it
Great haul Peg. Love the scope and range of the books. Love the sound of Alexandria. Greetings from Scotland.

I picked up Longstreet this past December during a 33% off sale at B&N. Might read it for Part 4 of Historathon this year.
