Zoe, when using tandem, I find it super useful to use the party chat feature. Just hopping in a chat that’s in the language of your choice and chatting is a great way to both start speaking your target language as well as finding those who are just as enthusiastic about learning the language as you. Hope this helps!!

Introversion and staying away from people and everyone. Sadness and loneliness are painful, but it is a treatment at the same time When I was little I cried out loud to get what I wanted but now I cry silently so they don't hear The night and the calm are my heaven. Stay away from everyone. I love everyone, but I'm afraid of everyone. I'm afraid of everything Uh

Yes, got some ideas about language exchange. For example, it is very helpful to divide different levels of language learning. For beginners and intermediate learners, there are different focus on topics, also different ways and forms to organize the language exchange, which is very import for a successful language change. As showed in the video, at the beginning level you should focus more on basic exercises such as the building of sentences, verb conjuction exercises ect. At the intermediate level then you feel more free to talk about many topics directly.

I started perhaps a bit too early for my Chinese level, but I was lucky because I found two people I really liked chatting to immediately. Their English is very good so I could do things like practice on new topics. For me I did things like practicing my tones, fixing my pronunciation and practicing basic sentence structures I was learning aloud. Now I can do a bit more swapping of bits of phrases, helpful vocab from videos, and small conversations about our day/week. I look forward to being able to talk about books and music etc.

For introverts, on your death bed would you care more about what people think of you or live with regrets of missing opportunities to learn a new language that will in fact open many opportunities for you? Sit on this and make your next decision. To quit or crawl through the limitation set by no one else but yourself. Zoe can give you ton of advices, but if you don’t use it, what’s the point of living when you put yourself in a jar and close yourself up from all these potentials.

During watching this video, I discover that I am not the only one finding difficulties to find a serious partner on tandem to study languages. I used to send a lot of messages for a period then I stopped cuz' I thought that there is a special way to find someone who wants to learn regularly, but now I think that I have just to continue to try! thank you girls 🥰. Also when I find someone who wants to learn but we don't have a method ; I quit cuz' for me I am wasting my time and not really learning, but now I think that I used to apply some of Zoe's methods inconsistently. So I am going to return to tandem and search a partner and to use your methods with mines and to be consistent. Thank you Zoe for making this clear my mind and for your methods too girls 🥰🙏 Good luck!

    in brief:
In this video, Zoe, a language enthusiast and PhD student in Sociology, introduces her Turkish friend Hilal, who is also passionate about learning languages and cultures.
They discuss their language exchange experience, focusing on practicing Turkish and French together for about a year and a half.
Zoe and Hilal share their journey and the methods they have used to make their language exchange more effective.
They met each other on the Tandem app, both looking for serious language exchange partners.
Initially, they focused on translation exercises, pronunciation corrections, and verb conjugation exercises.
As their language skills improved, they began to discuss more complex topics, ask questions, and engage in conversations about their daily routines, interests, and various subjects.
Zoe and Hilal emphasize the importance of sending each other notes, reviewing after sessions, and using the language in context.
They suggest being creative and finding topics of mutual interest to discuss.
They also acknowledge that language exchange is just one way to practice language skills and encourage others to explore various methods to find the best approach for their individual goals.

I liked everything about this video except one little issue. We Turkish people don't really use the word alhamdulillah in our daily talk. It shouldn't be so hard to say thank god when you speak English.

Hi! Merci Zoe et Hilal pour cette video. I have been learning French for a year now but only through Duolingo, so I am currently looking for someone who I can practice my French with. In exchange , i'd be willing to teach my language (Tagalog) and English as well. 😄 Bon courage à nous! PS: I tried commenting here on pure French but youtube keeps on deleting it, so I just used english instead 🥲
