Wear a mask to filter out the silica dust! This is really rather important. Damage is accumulative and happens slowly over decades. You may be symptom free for years as inflammation/fibrosis slowly decreases your lung functions.

I work in a copper silver and have been told the dust is 99 percent silica. There is alot of dust from the loaders loading the rock, and I have breathed in alot over 3 years. Do you think I will be affected by silicosis at some point, and is there any way to detect a problem early. I hate to have to work in this place, but I live in a small town in NW montana and I am just trying to support my family, no other good jobs around here. Thanks

Can you only assay to tell the different between carbon particles and silicon particles or is there some pathological differentiation?
