My interpretation of the mv:
Both of them were best friends. But one day, maybe due to genetic factors, he started losing his hearing gradually. He began to isolate himself from his friends. There were a few scenes where he joined their conversations and took pictures together. The scene where they’re skateboarding together represents their past. The girl wants to bridge the gap between them, to be friends again. She wants to know why he suddenly distanced himself until the scene where she puts on his earphones. See how surprised she is? That’s because the music is too loud. We can see how much he loves music, so when he could no longer listen to it, he got frustrated and turned up the volume to the maximum, just so he could hear something again.
The ending scene shows how they meet again after a few years. She looks excited, maybe because they had lost contact, or he had cut off contact with her because he couldn’t bring himself to face her. In the end, she finally realizes that he is deaf. Her once best friend is deaf. I’m not sure what the scenes in the desert are actually about-but maybe they’re meant to show us how distant and lonely he has become. A desert: lonely and silent. He wants to reach her but it’s hard (the reason why he keeps falling). He can’t hear her anymore; he feels lonely and doesn’t know how to communicate because, all his life, he has been just like any other person.
So, my conclusion is: they’re best friends turned into strangers.
