After watching this video I have no more any doubts about use of Raspberry Pi in my custom groovebox project (for sale, not only as a hobby) because use of (kinda) standard motherboard inside Korg product (KORG!!!) is a ... I have no words actually...
I like your philosophy, if you can get a screwdriver to it you can fix it, unfortunately not always true. I had to buy a special proprietary screwdriver made only for Macintoshes to fix my laptop.
This video is great! Thank you very much for doing it!! .It allows many people interested in acquiring the Kronos to know the interesting details of its construction that are shown, such as the motherboard, processor, SSD disk (and the connectors to add another one), and so much more. There is a detail that caught my attention (negatively for a keyboard of 3500 dollars): what need had Korg to use a wooden bottom cover ??? Hello Markus, thats a brilliant video.....recently I had the same problem with my screen and I need to replace it, the LCD is broken. This is a Korg Krome 88. I live in Mexico.
+Mario Guillermo Hello Mario, You may be able to buy a replacement from Korg UK but I am sure there must be a dealer in Mexico that could order one for you. I hope you get it repaired. Best wishes from Markus
Interesting. Though I wished 2 know, how the screen connector could b opened. Also there are PCI SSD's that also fits in the main board's (Mobile type PCI) slot, that you pointed for wireless LAN. The board above the screen is basically the Heart of the Kronos. It contains a RISC CPU and does the most, of the OS. It works as a plugin board on a Linux based OS where the desktop CPU is used for creating the sounds. Tx. Namasté.
Korg used to make quite beautiful product such as the M1, T-series, and Wavestation. A $100 Intel Atom PC inside is not exactly the most impressive thing in the world.
Quite embarrassing, even. Since the OASYS was quite a beast with 2.8 GHz Pentium back then. Korg needs a lot more CPU power than an Atom to make it a flagship instrument.
It is a con. Even putting a high end Intel in it just to support Linux kernel, it's a round way to go to make audio product. Looks like times of elegant and true engineering through dedicated DSP chips like the Motorola 56000 in the Nord Lead 2 back in 1997, those times are gone... I am only scared to think of what's inside the Montage (Motif used Linux as well) or Integra-7. I understand that digital technology is just bits, but I feel more comfortable with dedicated musical hardware instead of going around to use multi purpose consumer components. So we no longer use dedicated DSP chips, only FPGA and mainstream PC CPU's to run musical hardware on? If so, it doesn't make Nagra battery con look as bad as I thought it was, compared with what Korg is doing here :) Sure, Yamaha charges a lot of money for their RAM boards, but if that's dedicated chips, I am fine with it. Korg has advantage to most because upgrading memory is cheap. Still, I think using Intel Atom in "high-end" professional instrument is a con. God, I've done some research on the likes of LVMH, Rolex, Apple... Now I see Nagra and Korg joining the ranks. Good eveninig Mark. After owning for 7 years a Korg Kronos-X 88 (Sh3 keybed...) Excellent video! Those Korg 88 note workstations are loaded up with so many components that all have to come off before one can get to the touch screen. I've had to do this on my Korg Trinity proX 88 note, Korg 01W 61 note as well. The screens are buried beneath all this circuitry and wiring..... much fun.I've needed to work on older Yamaha GHS keyboards that have keybed issues. What lubricant would you recommend on those for rear of key and front guides? Thanks
Hi Markus, I know this is an old video but do you know what which touchscreen OEM does Korg use for the Nautilus? Also, would you have a likely idea of which capacitive touchscreen might act as a direct replacement for the resistive touchscreen? Many thanks!
Hello Markus, thanks for the vid, great step by step on how to do this. I'm needing to do the same repair, and the one thing I didn't get from this video is: What was the material/tape that you used to RE-apply the glass to the LCD?
Hello Jonny. I used standard 3M double sided tape, the sort that is sticky on one side then you pull off the backing strip and that makes it sticky both sides. I had to cut it into thin strips though as the original tape is 1 inch wide. but luckily it did the job :-) . many thanks from markus
A couple more questions about the tape. What is the heat (temperature) setting on your heat gun? Do I need to be concerned that it will damage the LCD screen itself? (I noted that you heat sinked the cable going to it with foil tape, but do I need to be concerned about the LCD Screen itself?) As you can see, this is the only part that concerns me. The rest is just "screwdriver" stuff... :-)
Do you know if the rh3 keybed in this keyboards are interchangeable across models? Will the RH3 keybed in a korg D1 work inside a kronos 88? They say its the same keybed, the rh3.
Was a wonderful tutorial! You are a person with lot of patience!!! God bless you. Jus wanted to know if you can know a way to reset the touch screen to its original state, instead of using the touch-screen calibration option available on the KRONOS. I tries my level best to update it to the latest version but could not reset my touch-screen. (My problem: I have to press further away on any dialog box on the KRONOS to activate the command). Please help me................
Oh I really do not know where to start looking for that problem. I was going to suggest the calibration but you already tried that i guess. Hmmm Not actually sure to be honest other than going to korg website and finding out how to do a full system reset. sorry Im not that much help to you, my apologies from Markus.
markusfuller Thanks Markus for your prompt reply. As I continue my quest to reset the mis-responsive touch screen, kindly keep this somewhere on the back of your mind. Hope, someday you may come across a good solution for such a problem and remember this helpless soul. God bless all your efforts.
Hello Studio Manmusic. I would have to spend some time with the Kronosx88 and if all seems to work ok then it would be OK. you do have a 1 year warranty with Korg so if something starts to go wrong then send it back and describe how it was delivered. The Kronos is quite a tough built machine and the packaging is designed with tests to ensure some small errors in transport will not affect the Kronos. check all keys respond correctly. but the electronics is fitted well inside the Kronos so if it works now it should not be a problem in the near future. but always there is a 1 year guarantee if you need it. My best wishes and I hope you have no problem as this is a very good machine to own. many thanks from Markus
Hi Mark just a question , as there is a computer in there !could I run a video monitor from it or is there a way of using a second video screen ( 24” maybe) on a Kronos .
Hola marco tengo una consulta tengo un problema con un kronos 2 enciende bien pero luego de un tiempo determinado de uso me se cuelga y me pide apagarlo y volverlo a escender .....a qué se debe eso
hello there. is it difficult to change the screen ? I have korg krome and my display broken that same thing like yours but I am talking about korg krome ,,thanks
sometimes if you have a coloured line that goes right across the screen then its normally a display issue that could be the tiny fine ribbon connector that attaches to the edge of the glass lcd panel. this can also sometimes be fixed by a bit of gentle pressure added to the ribbon cable just where it meets the glass but it is so fragile that you can also make matters worse. I dont think the problem is from the mainboard. Its a pity Korg didnt utilise the display adaptor on the atom pc within the keyboard as you could have plugged in with a computer monitor and tested to see if you have a clear display or if the line appeared on a computer monitor. I do not think that display port on the mainboard is activaed though I could be wrong.
People complaining about a cheap PC inside: Consider that you're paying for the development and capabilities of the product, not the value of the hardware. I'm sure Korg want to spend the minimum amount while still staying "ahead" of their competition.
Hi Mark, great job as usual. My kronos has a slighly different problem: the screen is not broken but there is a line of pixels which remain always lit (that is:quite annoying). The strange thing is that the brightness of this line of pixel is not always the same: i.e, at the start, in the first part of the booting sequence, it is brighter, then it grows dim Do you have any suggestions? In case the replacent is needed, where can I find the LCD screen spare part? Thank you in advance for any help
Markus, this is a wonderful video... wanted to ask you about the fan noise (the only reason I haven't purchased a Kronos). Do you know if the only purpose is to cool the atom processor/mother board? I was hoping to create a fanless Frankenstein Kronos so that I could have a silent Kronos. Thanks, David
Hi David. it looks as though the fan is just blowing across the PC so I guess it could live without one if you placed some good heatsinks on the processor. some fans are noisier than others in the Kronos. mine is not too bad really.
markusfuller Thanks Markus. That's helpful. I wonder if Korg tested installing heatsink rather than using a fan to cool the Atom. HP and others now make fanless Haswell PCs. If there was a way to use a Haswell PC in the Kronos, rather than the Atom, the fan could simply be eliminated (in theory). Do you think it would be possible to swap out the Atom?
Hello Markus. I got a broken D key in my Kronos 61 and I would like to replace it. I'm actually living in London. Do you know how can I get a replacement key. I just want to change it. My keyboard looks ugly with a broken key. Looks like a broken tooth 😔. Thank you in advance! Cheers 😊
Hi Markusfuller, I have a Korg Kronos. And my LCD ( light display ...back lit display) screen went out. I can hear it still works .But the LCD part is out. In other words it won't light on the touch screen, its just black. Would you know how to fix that portion?
Have just been looking at a second hand Kronos 2 61, turned out the touch screen wasn't actually working did not detect any finger or nail presses on the screen whatsoever, could not get to the menus to re calibrate the screen either, had to drive home empty handed, seller wasn't aware of the problem hadn't used it for a while then took out the box so I could have a look at it, Markus do you think this could be just a touch screen problem that replacing the screen will fix, or are there other issues that could be causing the Touch screen issue?
Hello Dear Marcus, I have a korg kronos x 73 and when I'm perfoming in setlist mode.. and I change one sound to another.. the next one put detuned.. and when I change and go back... this sounds normal. Could be a memory problem, what do you think?. by the way its wonderful that you show wich hardware use korg kronos !. thanks !!!
Hello David. I do not know why you are having this problem as I have never had that happen to me (yet) . have you checked if the sound you are switching to has not got a key change ie I think you can set up pitch change on for the different setlist controls. maybe you could check the instrument being used that has this problem and adjust the pitch then save to setlist. I know you can do this but i am not sure exactly how as i do not have my kronos here with me to look for you.
Thanks for the fast answer !!!,, i wanted to tell that i found the problem.. my pitch bend is broken, at least is not a memory problem. Marcus one last question.. you know that also happened somethis strange in setlist mode.. I'm play a song.. and in one moment the sound no stop even after realease the keys, like a pc crash. What it could be?. Thanks Again Marcus !!!
........“That’s extremely fragile....until we get it inside there”........ Meanwhile, all electronic engineers, technicians and Lucy at Korg UK, watches in horror as the delicate glass panel is suspended in the air by its even more delicate glass bonded ribbon connector. I’ve repaired dozens of keyboards and workstations over the years and must say that the Korg flagship is built like a battleship. Armour plated and bulletproof. Breaking the digitiser screen was unfortunate for you.
Markus, how you doing, i have a korg triton music workstation sampler 88 key, lcd screen cracked also, do you know where i can get another 1 and how to install it
markusfuller Ok can we have a review in a couple of weeks when you know the keyboard at bit better? Only joking, if you have time and only if you wish to. I'm intrigued about some of the features that the newer gear has to offer and how easy it is to use. I guess I could go down to local music shop, but playing with a bit of gear for 10mins is not the same as owning it. I'm also curious how you go about composing/producing music.
Hello. I purchased mine from Korg service department in the UK. I only have a UK telephone number for them but they may be able to help you. the number ( UK ) is 01908-304600 dialling code for the UK from Australia is 44. best wishes from Markus.
Isn't it so that some of Korg proprietary chips are build in that motherboard these chips make up for the many effects and dsp routing and other enhanced improved audio synth capability then was in the Korg Oasys.
I wish i had stripped it down further as I guess there would be some interesting DSPs etc on the other sides of those boards. the PC does not do all that magic itself.
You could just say " Why korg did not release a VST plugin ;-) I have an issue with my Kronos 2 61 where 1 key makes a metalic spring noise. Any info where to get and how to repair that myself? Because keyboard is brand new and has been sent twice to maintenance which did a poor job. :-(
alphasxsignal - nope🤷♂️. It would be giant to hold that 9” display, or they would have to totally redesign the software for a smaller display. Roland already had the Fantom XR rack, which is most of what’s in the Integra-7.
chieftp That I dont have the answer to. but it may be worth seeing if the memory is removable - if so then it is likely replaceable for higher capacity memory.
2 minutes boot? With an SSD? That's really long. Although I would assume that it scans the disc contents somehow and/or loads the patch in that time, not just starts the OS...
Hi Markus ! I have a problem with my Kronos x.. A problem has been detected. Please turn the Kronos off, wait for a 10 sec, and then turn it back on. any advice? thanks !!
Hi David I guess you have already tried turning it off then on again ?. the Kronos is a small household type atom computer (even has a printer port on the board). so the problem could be coming from anywhere as in a fault with the hard drive or memory or boot-up or or anything else that a computer can suffer from, plus there are several special boards connecting to the PC with soundcards and faders & buttons etc all communicating with the main PC. There could be a problem with one of those boards. I would try the reset procedure a few times and maybe look to see if there is a factory reset procedure which would normally involve pressing a button and holding while powering on (should be in the instruction manual somewhere). I sold my Kronos a long time ago so I do not know what the full reset procedure is. Factory resetting the Kronos will not guarantee that everything will be back to normal if there is a fault within the computer but it is better to try that first rather than taking things apart. and the fact that it says please turn the Kronos off on the screen tells me some of the program must be running correctly inside the PC simply because it is displaying the word Kronos. but I do not have any idea what could be wrong with it as you are the first person in all these years that has asked me that specific question. there is a Korg Forums page that could be more helpful as the people on there have had their kronos’s for years. good luck I hope you get it up and running again.
hI !! yes I did it a few times and its strange because for example yesterday in the first start I have that error and after reboot maybe 3 times the Kronos works fine, but I guess is what you told me.. its a computer so I shoud start to check my Kronos in that way. Thank you very much to take the time for reply to me. take care !!
Aah Yes but I am a BIG fan of Dave Jones Video's and I have great admiration for him and his educational video's. in fact it's his fault I spent so much money on the agilent oscilloscope. :-) Thanks Dave . . and thanks Mtaalas
+Matthew Garufi Of Audio Fix Productions Hello Matthew, This is something I have never done but I have heard that the yellowing is caused by Bromine seeping out of the plastic and that you can clean it with vinegar then a damp soapy cloth to neutralise the acid and then leave it in the sun for a day to re-bleach the plastic with UV light. As I must say though I have never tried this myself so cannot give you my advice on wether this actually works. Best thing is look around the new to see if someone has already done this. Best wishes from Markus.
+Matthew Garufi Of Audio Fix Productions I saw a guide somewhere that said using hydrogen peroxide and UV light is the way to fix yellowed plastic. There are some hair products that contain H2O2 and are foamy for easy application. For UV, use a blacklight or sunlight. I haven't tried it myself yet, but am tempted as my NZXT PC case has caught a bit too much sun.
Hi Juan, I think if you connect an external VGA monitor you would also have to gain access to the Bios of the motherboard to switch on the VGA output and maybe get into the startup program of the Kronos. to be honest I think it could be a lot of work to get it to display on a VGA but I am going to have a look around the internet to see if anyone has succeeded in doing so. you have bought up a good question here. . . does anyone else reading this know if it can be done ? please reply if it can. best wishes from markus
Gracias por su respuesta. Yo he buscado en internet pero aun no encontre nada al respecto. Si encuentro algo se lo hare saber. Un abrazo desde La Patagonia Argentina
Thanks for your reply. I searched the internet but still did not find anything about it. If I find something I'll let you know. A hug from Patagonia Argentina
you didnt show how to take off or re insert the little brown cable attached to the screen. I think I need to replace mine. Its not cracked but intermittenly stops working
I,ve got a Krome 88 keys My middle C key is not working properly , sometimes no sound, sometimes too loud, Is there anything I can do myself to fix this ???
+Helge Bjastad Hello if there is any warranty then get it serviced by korg. if it is out of warrenty then it may be just a case of lifting out the keyboard and checking the carbon pads under the keys though that can be a long and fiddly job to do and may not be the problem, just letting you know as i have spent days on jobs like this in the past.
Ive still got the Korg Krome It was repaird But now the problem has come back I was then told that the problem hed to do with the elctric cable there was a certain woord for that problem , witch I cant remember . can this be fixt by getting a new cable ???
Hello Helge, I cannot really say that buying a new cable will fix your problem. If the cable is faulty then yes change it but I cannot tell you that is the best thing to do as I do not know the problem on your Krome. I hope you get it fixed it is a nice keyboard.
I have a korg m3 and the touch screen was working fine before I stopped using it. it was standing up in the corner of the room for about 2 years. I decided to switch it on again to play some tunes and found the touch screen doesn't respond at all. I tried to calibrate but that doesn't respond either. does anyone know why the touch screen stopped responding. thanks
markusfuller well make it boot up faster. question, if I instal a second hard drive, can I run my sessions with audio straight from that second hard drive?
markusfuller well I'm sure you can play it but let me be more expecific. Can I load a sequence that contains audio tracks from the second hard drive instead of copying the sequence to the main drive in order for the song to load
Ahh now you have caught me on the spot there with a question I cannot answer. I do not know, Im sure there will be a way though how ?. if anyone reads this who knows please post the answer for descargamusicalny.
You can, but its not for beginners. The thing is the Linux kernel used is special developed to be used with strict timing control. There is a site on the net where they post a hack of the software so it will accept "certain" mobo's that is compatible with Korgs, wich means it has to use certain chipsets for various things to function. They have managed to get certain Mobo's with an i5 to run and start up. You can theoretically get more polyphonics this way. You can get more memory etc. but the system software is 32bit !!!!!! come on Korg !! So it can only make use of 3.2 Gb RAM. Anyway go check it out and search for Kronos hack if you have the guts to play with a 3000£ Hardware :) But shitty Atom Board or not ... Kronos is still one of the best workstations you can buy
Hello Alvaro. I purchased mine from the website Korg UK and they were very helpful. maybe they can direct you to a korg distributer closer to Argentina if you message them.
Hi you should not lose any DATA from the hard drive when repairing the screen. though Im not sure where you will get a replacement screen from other than contacting Korg support.
+markusfuller thankyou very much, highy appreciate it. No matter where i search there isnt 1 video done on the keyboard i have, im assuming the kronos is similar or very close as far as component placement.
No wonder it takes 9 light years to get everything on the screen during start up. So if you buy a Asus ROG ITX board with a decent chipset, maybe things would be faster?
It won't boot, because it was developed for the specific hardware. Then again, i'm not sure how they accomplished to make it boot this slowly. I've put Linux on SSDs on ancient Atom netbooks, and they boot in seconds. The development must have been a bit sloppy. But look around, you'll find some blogs that detail partial success. Involves a lot of software hacking.
Dirk Hofman oh that would be nice but im afraid I have tried it and theres no way of it communicating at the moment, there is an atom computer in there so its not impossible - its just waiting for someone to write the app.
I love the gag with the 'fan'

So who here cut their fingers before they learned it

Never knew their screens come with green marshmallows :P.
Hell of a job!!, thanks for the nice show.
Yes not very tasty though LOL but nice and crispy
Some detailed explanation as to how to line up the screen and deal with the double sided foam tape would have be extremely useful.
I think I laughed more than I should have @ 4:00 hahaha Good job Markus!
great video! Could you explain where the screws for the keyboard removal are located? I have the job of replacing the keyswitch board....

Hello Jonny. I used standard 3M double sided tape, the sort that is sticky on one side then you pull off the backing strip and that makes it sticky both sides. I had to cut it into thin strips though as the original tape is 1 inch wide. but luckily it did the job :-) . many thanks from markus
Thanks Markus!
Thanks Markus! Really great video and I dont even have a Kronos :-) But I would buy a desktop version without the keys!!!
I think it would be a good seller
He was like Let's take this to the professionals. Wait...I am the professional
Nicely done, what's the light/torch you're using @2:46 is it laser or LED? thanks
+walkabout16 Hi Thats just a small LED torch I was using to try and show the detail of cracked glass with. Its just one whiteish/blue LED
Donde puedo comprar el touchscreen Markus ? No lo encuentro aún . Gracias
Good video brother, I have a pink line over the display do you reckon is the screen or mainboard problem
sometimes if you have a coloured line that goes right across the screen then its normally a display issue that could be the tiny fine ribbon connector that attaches to the edge of the glass lcd panel. this can also sometimes be fixed by a bit of gentle pressure added to the ribbon cable just where it meets the glass but it is so fragile that you can also make matters worse.
Great repair Marcus.
Where is the follow-on vid of you playing the Korg?
Cheers from silly-con valley.
+davecc0000 Hi Davecc0000 its the next video after this one which is >>> th-cam.com/video/VbEt3A-p-Lk/w-d-xo.html
best wishes from markus
Lol @ fan... That was epic😂🤪😀👍🎹
there is one frame from 9:25 to 9:30 that's not like the rest (like a quick blue flash).
did you know this ?
Congratulations your videos are great 100% thanks
People complaining about a cheap PC inside: Consider that you're paying for the development and capabilities of the product, not the value of the hardware. I'm sure Korg want to spend the minimum amount while still staying "ahead" of their competition.
Hey I have a Yamaha PSR S900. The instrument turns on but the speakers just don't give out sound any more. Can u suggest what can be done.
Hi Mark, great job as usual.
My kronos has a slighly different problem: the screen is not broken but there is a line of pixels which remain always lit (that is:quite annoying). The strange thing is that the brightness of this line of pixel is not always the same: i.e, at the start, in the first part of the booting sequence, it is brighter, then it grows dim
Do you have any suggestions? In case the replacent is needed, where can I find the LCD screen spare part?
Thank you in advance for any help
Great Job ,Mate...
I'd like to see the tare down on an M-audio oxygen88 if your still doing these vids
Nut Markus, how did you get the keybed out ?
Markus, this is a wonderful video... wanted to ask you about the fan noise (the only reason I haven't purchased a Kronos). Do you know if the only purpose is to cool the atom processor/mother board? I was hoping to create a fanless Frankenstein Kronos so that I could have a silent Kronos. Thanks, David
Hi David. it looks as though the fan is just blowing across the PC so I guess it could live without one if you placed some good heatsinks on the processor. some fans are noisier than others in the Kronos. mine is not too bad really.
markusfuller
Thanks Markus.
Cheers 😊
Hello efeiu. you could try calling Korg UK spares department, their UK phone number is 01908-304600 Best wishes from Markus.
You did a great job. How much do you have to charge for doing a job like that?
Hello That does not sound good. have you tried an update from the korg website. that may fix the problem
Hi, yes I have the last update already.. but it is strange because that not happens always..
........“That’s extremely fragile....until we get it inside there”........
Markus, how you doing, i have a korg triton music workstation sampler 88 key, lcd screen cracked also, do you know where i can get another 1 and how to install it
Nice repair, can we have quick review of the Kronos? What do you like about it? What don't you like?
Jep, we want a showcase here, go give this a stage, Markus!
I wish it had a video output and usb mouse input so you could see what you are doing a little better. other than that I am still learning the thing.
markusfuller Ok can we have a review in a couple of weeks when you know the keyboard at bit better? Only joking, if you have time and only if you wish to. I'm intrigued about some of the features that the newer gear has to offer and how easy it is to use. I guess I could go down to local music shop, but playing with a bit of gear for 10mins is not the same as owning it. I'm also curious how you go about composing/producing music.
Hello. I purchased mine from Korg service department in the UK. I only have a UK telephone number for them but they may be able to help you. the number ( UK ) is 01908-304600 dialling code for the UK from Australia is 44. best wishes from Markus.
i have a korg m3 have change my sreen work for a year now back to same touch screen panel calibration problem would be able to help me?
Isn't it so that some of Korg proprietary chips are build in that motherboard these chips make up for the many effects and dsp routing and other enhanced improved audio synth capability then was in the Korg Oasys.
I wish i had stripped it down further as I guess there would be some interesting DSPs etc on the other sides of those boards. the PC does not do all that magic itself.
Sir...i m using novation ultranova midi...but i m not able to buy it's modulation(pitch bend). Plz help me sir
Wonder what the life of the SSD is(mine is getting on) and where is the procedure to replace it?
You could just say " Why korg did not release a VST plugin ;-) I have an issue with my Kronos 2 61 where 1 key makes a metalic spring noise. Any info where to get and how to repair that myself? Because keyboard is brand new and has been sent twice to maintenance which did a poor job. :-(
Yes Roland has the Integra and maybe Korg will do that someday in a rack.
alphasxsignal - nope🤷♂️. It would be giant to hold that 9” display, or they would have to totally redesign the software for a smaller display. Roland already had the Fantom XR rack, which is most of what’s in the Integra-7.
Hola Markus ! el touch screem es compatible con el kronos 2 ?
Hola, creo que la pantalla es la misma en Kronos 1 y 2
Hello The touchscreen on the Kronos 1 is the same as the Kronos 2
can you "upgrade" the memory in a Nord just by sticking more memory thingies in there? or is it made differently?
chieftp That I dont have the answer to. but it may be worth seeing if the memory is removable - if so then it is likely replaceable for higher capacity memory.
2 minutes boot? With an SSD? That's really long. Although I would assume that it scans the disc contents somehow and/or loads the patch in that time, not just starts the OS...
Put a faster CPU and more RAM and it boots faster.
EEVblog mentioned!!! :D
Aah Yes but I am a BIG fan of Dave Jones Video's and I have great admiration for him and his educational video's. in fact it's his fault I spent so much money on the agilent oscilloscope. :-) Thanks Dave . . and thanks Mtaalas
you might know mark .. how do you clean keyboard keys
my keyboards keys have turned yellow
i was told vinegar cleans them is that true ????
Thank's for this video.
Korg is smart to use standard memory chips.
Fan video & good job all best ;)
Hello. Know if you can connect a monitor to the Korg Kronos in the VGA output on the motherboard?
Hillarious episode!
Many Thanks
thanks a a lot was very helpful video ..... cheers
Great vid bye the way
Great job!
you didnt show how to take off or re insert the little brown cable attached to the screen. I think I need to replace mine. Its not cracked but intermittenly stops working
I notice you didn't say how much the screen cost?
The fan is a propeller lol, no wonder is loud lol
Yes could not help that just my mad sense of humour :-)
where i can find this screen to buy???? my kronos X88 is broken
Korg Service...Google to find one in your area
I,ve got a Krome 88 keys
My middle C key is not working properly ,
sometimes no sound, sometimes too loud,
Is there anything I can do myself to fix this ???
+Helge Bjastad Hello if there is any warranty then get it serviced by korg. if it is out of warrenty then it may be just a case of lifting out the keyboard and checking the carbon pads under the keys though that can be a long and fiddly job to do and may not be the problem, just letting you know as i have spent days on jobs like this in the past.
+markusfuller Thanxxx Markus !!!
I tried to calibrate but that doesn't respond either. does anyone know why the touch screen stopped responding. thanks
I wonder if it is possible to remove that motherboard and processor and install a more updated one.
I guess so but I'm not sure it would make it any better than it already is.
markusfuller well make it boot up faster. question, if I instal a second hard drive, can I run my sessions with audio straight from that second hard drive?
Hi Yes you can play an audio file straight from the hard drive as if it is one very large sample being played back.
markusfuller well I'm sure you can play it but let me be more expecific.
Where do you get these broken pianos from?
I buy from carboot sales but there has not been any for nearly a year now due to the covid.
Como alinhar o keydeb do kronos x 73 ?
Great video cheers
nice to know desktop computer boards inside those expensive synths....anyway thank you.
Only in these ones. Very few others have used this approach.
Can we change the mobo to new i7 series motherboard or laptop type motherboard to improve it loading speed
I am not sure why they are still using the atom processor. maybe one day it will be upgraded.
Anyway go check it out and search for Kronos hack if you have the guts to play with a 3000£ Hardware :)
But shitty Atom Board or not ... Kronos is still one of the best workstations you can buy
Very good!
is that fan from a Spitfire?????
excelent.
My keyboard does not turn on only emits a flashing LED light on the joy stick but don't want to ignite as i can turn on help me please
Hi Elias. Im not sure what is happening there. It sounds like the Kronos is not loading up its startup information from the SSD hard drive ?.
Excelente!!! Gracias . . . From Chile :D
Good Job Thumbs up!
thank you.
Hello nice to meet you. Do not get the spare touchscreen , I'm from Argentina . You could help me get it? I need it urgently . Thank you very much!
Hello Alvaro. I purchased mine from the website Korg UK and they were very helpful. maybe they can direct you to a korg distributer closer to Argentina if you message them.
Cool thanks for the video
OH WOW I have just realised that the Kronos is PC based. Just like WERSI has been for18 years now
also if i try to fix it myself, will i lose all data saved to my internal hard drive taking it apart
+markusfuller goodevening, the bootom board is also connected to alot of components
Yes this unit is very tricky to disassemble.
Is it not possible to connect a ipad to the core of kronos, so we dont need the kronos screen
Dirk Hofman oh that would be nice but im afraid I have tried it and theres no way of it communicating at the moment, there is an atom computer in there so its not impossible - its just waiting for someone to write the app.
