The new S160s make their presence felt at Newton Abbot to aid in the war effort. But some of the arrivals still have a lot to learn. If they don't listen to their classmates, Lizzie's 'gentle persuasion' will do just nicely!

First of all, thank you all so much for 1000 followers on Twitter! It's been a very long time coming but I've finally achieved a little milestone that little me always wanted when she began making these videos. I could have never done it without all of you cheering me on and I'm so grateful to all of you for your support. Thank you. :')
Joj wanted to do at least one more story with the S160s and I could not sway him otherwise so here we are. Hopefully you all enjoy it as much as we did during production!

I love the illustration, and how we got glimpse of how the Yank engines are like abroad. Poor Mr. Turner, dealing with Sergeant C-I mean Hunt must be a source of constant migraines... On the other hand, I wonder if there's S160 that can potentially match Lizzie's ferocity. I'd bet that their argument would have everyone evacuating the area...
Those poor engines, the idea that they'll be able to get back to America after the war...
One thing that I didn't quite catch, who was the engine that Duchess speaking to in the end?

I wonder if, deep down, at least some of the S160s already know they're never going back to America? After D-Day, once a foothold on the continent was established, many of them were shipped over to support the war effort and stayed after the war to help rebuild the shattered nations. Others were dispatched to the Middle East and North Africa, a few were even sent to China. I may be wrong, but I can't recall any that didn't stay in the US that returned after the war. Basically, if they wound up on one of those Liberty Ships they would never see home again.

I have become very intrigued by the GWR 4300 Class largely thanks to your character Lizzie! The S160s are a favorite engine of mine and seeing these two war freight engines clash was a big treat!!

For a minute I thought maybe this increase in aggression was a sign that Lizzie had recovered from the boiler explosion incident. But thinking about it, I'm not so sure. On the one hand, I think that incident might have lowered her opinion of the S160s even more, seeing that they can go pop at a moment's notice with no warning. On the other hand, that rage might also be a way for her to cope with her fear, both of the trauma of the last war that the incident revived and the uncertainty that such an incident might happen again.
Side note: though brief and subtle, I'm glad y'all seemed to take on my suggestion that all the S160s have different regional American accents. They may have mostly been built in the same place, but like the troops they roughly represent their crews would have come from all over. Besides, it helps to keep them distinct, if our brash friend here is from, I'd say, Central Texas, and his quiet shedmate comes from, sounds like maybe Philadelphia.
I hadn't considered this take on Lizzie before, very interesting!
Also hadn't thought of the S160s having regional accents; it was a simple coincidence from the actors who played them. :)

Goodness me, that was more of an episode than I thought. 1546 really was a character that didn't really know what he was doing. Lizzie shouting at him through the top of her voice must have been a very hard bit for you to record. I wonder if Lizzie has a bit of Bluenose inside her 🙂.
well Lizzie did work for the ROD in the First world war so that make's sense.
when i first saw the picture i thought 1546 was asking her out on a date. but Lizzie was not having none of that.

Is it likely that Lizzie will have a coming-of-age moment in her conceptions about foreigners in future instalments? That's all I'd want to ask basically; given that Lizzie was a newly-built engine when she went to France and was too overwhelmed beyond belief at what she ended up facing through to fully process it all, it would be interesting to see if you had in mind her coming out of a second war with not only a grasp of what she went through beforehand in another light, but also the perspective of those foreign engines she worked alongside at the time; despite their differences, they were in the same plight of uncertainty after all. We saw her left to ponder something she hadn't thought to consider prior in the Christmas special 'Truce' after all. Regards, Samuel Farris.
Within NAS itself? Not likely. It would probably better serve as its own prequel series.

I knew you're going to do the same saying with the Serge thing, Massage, Sausage and the Passage. You got that from Bad Lad's Army TV series of 2004 to 2006, haven't you with Sergeant Allistair Rae famous sayings? Lol. And i also thought to myself when i watched/listened to Star Spangled, with respect Sergeant Hunt, in this country we live in, we don't call our sergeants sirs. If we do, we all end up Beasted or Bee sting/stunged. So clearly, Sgt. Hunt has never met Sgt. Rae and the Provost Sgt. Timothy Western. Haha, great stories though Team NAS. Sgt. Hunt is very much the entitled bratty army man who thinks he can throw his weight and rank around. We'll soon see him get a dressing down though!

Someone who draws up, or 'drafts' designs for steam engines, ships, buildings, etc.
