Dude, I'm from Boston. You vastly missed out on and underrated the food scene. Boston has a phenomenal Chinatown offering great Asian cuisine. The Little Italy also known as the North End is the best Little Italy in North America. You can't beat the options and quality for Italian food. The bakeries and pizza will blow your mind. For an Irish experience, go to South Boston for outstanding Irish restraunts. There is so much more.

As someone originally from Oklahoma who lives in New England, I can confirm that Boston is my favorite New England city. So much fun going on in that town. So much history. People there are crazy drivers - expect lots of horn honks - but are incredibly friendly in person when you meet them. Fenway Park is highly recommended. The whole Red Sox/Fenway Park experience has become an addiction.

My wife and I now live nearby in New
Hampshire, only 30 plus miles from
Boston. I spent time there about 50
years ago when I was stationed nearby
in Portsmouth, NH, while in the US 🇺🇸
Air Force. I went to the scene on Washington
Street, Lucifers night spot on Kenmore Square for dancing 💃 and 🍸 drinking.
Also the Aquarium, and Science Center
on dates, and I had a girlfriend who lived
in the family home on Monument Avenue
on Bunker Hill. The home had a brass Plaque
on it marking it as historic. Later on a friend
from High School days, living in the suburb
of Framinham, had a boat at Squantum in
Quincy, where we boated around Boston
Harbor, where you could see the JFK Pres.
Library nearby, and once we went up to the
famous Salem, where the Witch trials were.
Those are some of my old experiences there. Ray.

My guide took the time to point out many architectural details that I would’ve never noticed. The other was a pizza tour in the North End neighborhood. Got to see Paul Revere’s house and Old North Church on that one, and the pizza was pretty good, too!

Boston is the greatest of all US cities. It is one of the few that you can cover by foot and get most of the city in. Always visit the North End, a still mostly Italian neighborhood that has some very good restaurants. The Commons, the Public Gardens, the Swan Boats in season and the Harbor are all great. The many museums can fill several days. Just covering a few historical locations will cover a day. I am prejudiced as I am from the city, but I have been all over the US and overseas, and this city compares well with all for livability and activities. BUT. EXPENSIVE. Also, this is a gritty Northeast city, so expect a little blue collar give and take in your daily life! In the old days, each neighborhood was an ethnic enclave, and if you crossed those borders, you had better have a good reason! Nowadays, that is not at all the case, and yes, there is a Chinatown with good Chinese food in it, though not large. I used to live in West Roxbury. Ah, good times! Note that with all of the 2020 increases in murder rates in major US cities, Boston was an exception. (P.S.-you don’t put shrimp in Chowder!) (P.P.S. Get a lobster roll, you’ll thank me for it….and yes, Fried Clams are ONLY Fried Clams if they fry the WHOLE Clam, not just a strip of meat.)
You should definitely go see the USS Constitution. It REMAINS on the COMMISSIONED warship list of the US Navy!
    Have a great time!

Cambridge is part of the Boston metropolis. Boston's political boundaries are unusually small due to being created in a very different era. Anywhere else in the country, Cambridge would be part of Boston, and regardless nobody visiting from elsewhere cares about what mailing address local taxes are sent to. It's easier to walk from Boston to Cambridge than it is to drive from one sprawling Los Angeles neighborhood to another.

Don't forget the Berklee College of Music. When my brother studied there, my mom would visit. She would spend some time around Fenway Park. She told me about the police. When something went on, first, you'd hear the sirens (cars), then you'd see the bikes, and then the horses. This was in the eighties. She also loved to go around Fanueil Hall. I only got as far as the airport (back in 2019), since I was in transit, probably on the way to Seoul.

    • @Peenurpool
      @Peenurpool 2 ปีที่แล้ว

..... Sometime around the early to mid 90’s the government gave a boat load of money to the public library to restore it, and update all the utilities, but at the same time keep it as original looking as possible for historical and visual purposes.... I worked for a place that won a huge bid for a good amount of the work... That building, as well as most of Boston, is all built on top of pylons... they are on average, about 4ft apart from one another in every/ any direction.... It’s scary when you realize what is really holding up all those foundations and buildings.... well anyway, one morning the plumbers were Jack hammering the basement floor / foundation and a huge chunk busted off and sank a few feet before getting stopped by the pylons... Some of the wall was already gone and there was a hole about 10ft x 8ft leading from the basement to the outside sidewalk... After that big chunk broke off, it created like a very powerful vacuum and you could feel and hear the air getting sucked up and out... This caused the salt water to flood the entire basement within just a few moments and it was very very hard to move in the water with all that energy behind it, but everyone dropped what they were doing and fled for the exit... Nobody’s got seriously hurt thankfully, but that was something that scared the shit out of everyone, and left all of us baffled as to what the hell just happened....if there is ever a decent earthquake in Boston, that entire city will crumble like a stale ritz cracker.... I’m sure there are people in this comment section that have seen what I’m talking about, and had their jaw hit the floor hahaha.... I know I’m not the only one 👍😬
