I was born in Paris and the first movie experience I can remember is Tati's "Mon Oncle". To say it left an essential impression on my life would be an understatement.
Crazy that this video was released the day of his last birthday on earth, January the 20 th 2023 !! And now he's gone and I'm sooo sad :( He was my favorite filmmaker and there will never be another like him !!!! A genius !!! RIP dear David Lynch, you have helped me so much in my life for the last 35 years, I hope you are in a beautiful world where you can still dream and make sublime films that alas we won't be able to see...
@@theshaneakers OMG you are right !!! Sorry !!! I know (of course) he died now and not in January 2024 but It seems I have a hard time thinkin this is already 2025 LOL My mind wants to stay in 2024 for some reason LOL Apologies, and thank you for correcting me ;)
I also didn't like the end of Rear window but that's just because the Simpsons did it better and I was expecting a twist that never came. Still so good..
I thought Hitch had the tumblers moving because he loved the visual of glass, ice, and a liquor swirling around. It is shiny and reflective, even festive. I enjoy when film does something just for the beautiful effect. Hitch and Lynch both do this often in film while they tell you a gripping story.
i believe they are cognac glasses and they are swirling them to simulate people who know how to aerate their drink and smell the aroma. problem is their swirls are so unnatural, and oddly frequent- they looks like people who have never used those glasses and never drink cognac but have seen someone else do that before. 😂
Some of his films have "cheesy" endings only for distract audience but I know what you mean. But The Elephant man, first 2 twin peaks seasons, Fire Walk With me, Lost Highway, Mulholland Drive and The Return are not cheesy at all man!!! ❤
@@mattiadei8402 Agreed. You forgot Eraserhead though, that ending is insane. But OP has a point when you think about the ending of Wild At Heart lmao
With Psycho the exception I find most of Hitchcock's endings to be pedestrian and unsatisfactory. Whether that's due to the Hayes code or not it tarnishes the movie.
When I joined TH-cam in 2007 my channel name was mrhulot. there is no happer movie. I am thrilled Mr Lynch liked Mrhulot so much.. whenever I feel low I just have to listen to the theme from mrhulot th-cam.com/video/2N8zGSb5-jw/w-d-xo.html
RIP David Lynch. Rests well in the White Lodge.
With some fine damn good coffee..!
Ever since I watched Rear Window 20 years ago, I think that movie is so cozy, a great movie!!
thats hilarious he pointed out the scene where they just wont stop tumbling their drinks lol
so funny as someone who recently rewatched and noticed how unnatural that was LMFAO
RIP David , pleased I met you in 2007. Bless your beautiful Spirit.
I met him in 2008. We were so lucky 🍀
David lighting up at the mention of Jacques Tati’s name is contagious. A total one-off of a film genius…in fact, both of them.

Beautiful films with excellent explanations. Thanks, dear Mr Lynch❤

He didn’t die a year ago. His last living birthday was in 2024.

@@StephenDedalus74 I can’t blame you. I still don’t want to move in to 2025, either.
@@theshaneakers 🤣😅😉🙏
Great to see you round and about
YES
Ill Keep watching him talking forever....
Thanks for the video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
The Elephant Man is still my favorite film. R.I.P. maestro.
I think Tati's Mon Oncle out of all his films is the most charming. And unified. And it was my first.
Rear Window is for sure a cosy movie!
Hotel de la Plage, St. Marc, Bretagne. I wonder if he's ever been there. Wonderful part of the world.
I love how David Lynch's drawers have holes in place of knobs
cant wait for his next movie
Soon hopefully 👍
It's been 18 years since his last film, so any day now, I reckon lol
RIP
You just had to jinx it didn’t you…..
jk 😂

Hitchcock didn’t seem to end stuff well
That’s not the movies fault
@@dalisman The ending of Psycho almost ruins the entire film
You can't cast THAT guy and not have him be a murderer.
@@Yetaxa I thought the ending of Psycho was excellent.
Great movies indeed.
Was it Brandy "Snifter? .. In "Rear Window" ..
Was the drink a highball? A variety of spirits can be used.
Cozy sums up Rear Window to a T❤
I guess the idea about swirling the ice in the tumblers might have been to sell the idea of being in a heatwave, trying to keep the drink cold.
Or.....make you on edge.

It was to keep the circular motif of the Binoculars, and the general theme of visual restlessness.Just kidding.Throw me a bone here Alumni.

"hokey" never heard that word before:) what does it mean?
Forced,Over animated,Sentimental. I dunno?😅
@@vandolmatzis8146 haha ok! thx:)
Corny
@ aah😁
A mix of corny and dumb. Not up to the situation..
Spielberg's "The Fablemans" 2022 .. Lynch's cameo: th-cam.com/video/l4BAY9ERJow/w-d-xo.html
He did a good John Ford, .. his secretary, etc. was Lynch though
Another World was awesome.
Film is literature
Lynch hates the "hokey" ending of Rear Window while his films have arguably more cheesy endings done on purpose hah

The happy ending of Blue Velvet is similar to some Hitchcock films; Strangers on a Train, North By Northwest.
With Psycho the exception I find most of Hitchcock's endings to be pedestrian and unsatisfactory. Whether that's due to the Hayes code or not it tarnishes the movie.
@@isaiahromero9861 Wild At Heart is garbage.
