It won't be like FS2020 where you can use the software offline and sacrifice appearance. You will need an internet connection at all times in order to use FS2024. Where we are headed with the whole global "green new deal" initiative that just about every city government in the world is in lockstep with, many people will not be able to afford to keep their power on let alone afford to keep their internet connected, *unless* they take steps the government requires them to take to reduce their supposed carbon footprint which will be defined by government. As enticing as FS2024 is, I feel like it is one more step towards controlling our behavior using the incentive of a dopamine-filled virtual world to keep us in line. As much as I hate to bring politics into this and as much as I hate politics itself, politics is part of this move in my opinion. The more this technology progresses, the more people will be addicted to it. The more people that will be addicted to it the more people will suffer with depression as they will become less free and less happy. Who benefits the most from this?
I'd say seasons and improved flight modeling, global ship traffic and vehicle traffic then tornados that's all good stuff. Last, having better ATC is great too.
I feel that the most overlooked thing by flight sim companies is ATC it’s is a massive part of the experience and they never do anything that is actually enjoyable to use it is quite unfortunate. Hope that they do improve this in the new sim.
I’d have to agree with you here mate. A good, functional ATC is critical to ensuring a varied, interesting experience each flight. Hope the likes of Beyond ATC and so on can bring the ATC to us in FS2020 before FS2024 can implement it properly in FS2024 :) subscribe for more!

Why don't you try creating all these things with the old backend, it would be way more expensive and take a lot more time than just creating a new base to make all this easier
This seems very promising, but I'd add a couple of caveats: 1) A thinner client unavoidably means lots more that needs to come from "the cloud," even disregarding the photogrammetry improvements. It isn’t an unresolved question that you'll need fast internet - it's a certainty. If you have problems in that regard now, you ain't seen nuthin' yet! And, since that demand will be global, Asobo better have a lot more servers online by launch as well, or it won’t be only your personal connection that will be an issue. 2) Asobo promises almost total compatibility with MSFS2020 add-ons. They also promise a new, improved physics flight model. While both are great, neither can fully accommodate the other when it comes to third-party aircraft. You might be able to just "drop in" a third-party airplane for MSFS2020 into the MSFS2024 Community folder, but it will fly no more accurately than it did in the earlier sim without a substantial update from the developer, which may or may not be forthcoming. Don’t get me wrong: I’m looking forward to the new release with enthusiasm. But I don’t think it will be as seamless a transition as Microsoft and Asobo want us to believe.
Seb said updating planes to take advantage on the new physics model is easy. He said it took him about five minutes to add more definition to the aircraft he showed in the demo
Exactly! Re: point 1, that was precisely my thought as soon as I heard that in the presentation. Even though my house gets 300+mb internet, there's no ethernet wiring to the back of the house, and even with a range extender I'm struggling to get 10mb download speed in my office so far. Really annoying as I've spent the past two years thinking about and then building a new PC just for MSFS, I even bought a second 2TB 980 Pro drive just for running the sim, so I'd much rather be loading from that than via a 10mb internet connection! I really want to hear if they have considered a solution to this, if it's going to require a lot more data to be streamed...
@DavidTheScientist what type of wifi are you using? Might have to Invest in wifi 7 or hardwire an ethernet through the walls. I can imagine that's annoying for you.

Tried a good Powerline adaptor, unfortunately it was even worse, about 5mb, which I think is due to the front half of the house being from 1904 and probably on a different circuit. I think my best (and last) bet is to buy a good router, as the ISP-provided router has a poor range, and so I think I could easily boost the speed the extender is getting just by doing that, which should then be passed on to the office. My motherboard came with a nice big aerial so seems to get a better signal than other devices, so I'm still hopeful it can be improved...
I am weirdly obsessed with grass details on (farm) fields, and roads. I'm not a fan of the 'faded' overlap look between roads and fields in the current sim. I can't wait to see what it'll look like in the next one. The grass, cliffs, boulders etc in the trailer give me high hopes, as well as the tree diversity and dynamics

Personally, while I'm not expecting it, what I'm hoping to see most in the new Flight Sim is an actual 1st person experience. To be able to actually get up from your seat and walk around, exiting your plane in person for a walkaround and interact with your plane "in person", instead of just being a hovering cam.
As a VERY long term simulation fan, I'm going to just sit back and wait on this one. I'm getting older and I'm no longer sucked in by hype and promises of the latest shiny. Anything connected to Microsoft needs to be put through a filter and taken with a grain of salt. Unless there are REAL improvements to performance, REAL improvements to the photogrammetry (melted buildings), REAL improvements to ATC, REAL improvements to flight models (especially helicopters) I will be very cautious about jumping into the next big thing. Too much talk and not a lot of action on promises over the years. My purchase of MSFS add-ons has greatly decreased as of late and it will stay that way until I start getting some real facts and not just talk from ASOBO and Microsoft. I'm hoping they can pull it off but not getting remotely excited at this point. Many of the things they are announcing I can already do through 3rd party adds such as missions and they cost me nothing. Time will tell.

Im an ATP rated pilot and very disappointed with FS2020 when comes to scenery building photogrammetry,those awfull traffic dynamics (rarely see cars on the roads,they suddenly disapear,etc,etc...) and on and on...like it always was,FS2024 WILL BEE what Fs2020 should´ve been like,and not even so! Money is the motivator for these companies here,its like attaching food on a stick on a dogs tail,you will keep pursuing and spending lots of money,time and time again!
MSFS 2020 leaves a lot to be desired, even after all these improvements. This announcement about a new sim is a disappointment. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
A good idea for them to implement is to show funnel clouds where there is a tornado warning IRL, and turn it into a tornado in-game when it detects debris signature patterns or other things on radar that can indicate a tornado at that location. And to only show tornados when real life radar shows it.. Or optionally let you manually create weather conditions where a tornado is likely, then the sim would have a chance percent to spawn in a tornado based on the conditions you set. That would be cool.
I will just be happy with proper storm structure and lightning with live weather. I have to do manual weather and storms to get a proper thunderstorm. If I see a Moore like tornado or Joplin, I will collapse in my seat, but I do not see that happening.

It would be cool to see a large variety of ships. Not just cargo ships/cruise ships, but smaller boats, fishing boats, etc.. And crowded areas of boats where necessary, like in China where theres a ton of fishing boats or boat docks around Miami for example. Having real wake physics for planes would be awesome. Also support for larger waves.
Msfasobo should allocate a few million for a cure to ADD that most of their coders suffer from. They bring a project tp 60-70% complettion and then lose interest. They need coders that are "closers" .
So they say for example houses in rural areas in Germany will stop looking like taken from a bad WWII movie made by aliens who only had a vague description of earht? And photogrammetry areas will stop looking like said world war went really really bad for everybody? I'll believe that when I see it.
This or one of the other alternatives such as real live options (Vatsim, PilotEdge, etc) or one of the options as FSHud, BeyondATC or others. But yes it would be nice if they also tackled this issue in '24.
Will we be able to customize the live air traffic? Imagine trying to hop on the sim, just to be told you have to hold short for 3 hours on the taxiway at LaGuardia, then get sent back to your gate😭😭😭

Aslong as all the payware and freeware addons and mods ive got are compatible with 2024 im not complaining. And ill probably will be buying this just for the extra performance so my pc wont turn into an F14 on takeoff everytime i try to land at a busy airport
Nice! I think my main downside with FS2024 is spending another 120 dollars for a "new" platform. It's really a shame because the new sim looks and sounds amazing from the reports.
And adding another 2 terabytes of storage and possibly more memory. Probably going to have to upgrade cpu and gpu. Oh and buy all new add- ons and airliners. The cost of the new platform will be the least or are worries for most.

Better performance is the one thing I'm looking for. I can live with bad ATC, I can live with random issues, but performance is the one thing. My 40-series Nvidia GPU goes from a solid 100fps to 5 fps and anything in between at random moments. Even when flying at FL400 I can see erratic fps even going as poor as 15fps for no apparent reason. So yes a more stable build would be awesome.
FS2020 is using our systems better than any other simulator does, at least with my system it did. The frame drops could be the simulator not knowing what it needs to draw next, as it might be waiting for cloud data.
Actually I don’t care about the local storage space. That’s dirt cheap these days. Downloading from the internet will always be slower than from local storage. So a bit skeptical about that. All the other features sound like a flight simmer’s dream.
Their 'thinner client' worries me as I can't get more than 76Mbps which is currently fine even supersonic over Manhatten 🙂. Ultra high end PC and what I want is the much improved multithreading. The improved flight modelling should finally give realistic inertia.

Yup they scammed us on 2020. Now they want to put all they promised in 2020 on 2024. Next they're gonna put whatever they promised on 2024 on MSFS 2026 and so on!
Based on what they've said and WHY they've said it they are obviously slightly rattled by the poor initial reception to that original trailer by a section of the community. I do hope they consider a neofly type career mode that actually works with less jank than exterior addons currently available. Missions are worrhless to me unless there is some sort of dopamine reward and end goals.
They need hail, sleet, freezing rain, ice on the ground, and where the weather changes over time like make to where it can go from sunny to stormy or stormy to sunny depending upon pressure, wind, temperature, and humidity
Given the average comment here for this video, a lot of people haven't seen anything before it seems. From the "Why" they are going for FS2024 to Addon compatibility. So it seems more videos and explanations are needed
My biggest issue with the current sim is the patchwork look of the terrain that has been stitched together from various images, the colours are also so messed up on ground textures it really kills immersion at times.
One thing I notice is missing: airliners. Those, apparently, will have to be downloaded separately . Also, will current weather conditions be able to be downloaded - as it was in FSX?
It takes a lot of faith to believe in performance improvements. That bascially never happens to have a new games that runs smoother than a previous one on the same machine. I want to believe, and I trust Asobo, but if the performance is simply "not worst" I will already be happy.
This "new" sim honestly just sounds like a HUGE DLC they should be releasing and not a new game by itself. I would much rather pay the money for a DLC (with multithreading support) than buy a completely new game.
i really hope that owners of the deluxe and premium deluxe will be getting at least a discount. It would be a shame to have wasted so much only for the sim to be replaced
I hope they have fixed the problems with binding controllers. I really can't trust my controls anymore as they don't work. I have Thrustmaster Airbus, Honeycomb Alpha and Bravo. Few working properly.
Can't wait to see what the default airplane menu will look like. I'm hoping we can move our 2020 defaults over because I do like most of them. Especially the PC-6.
I would like to know what minimum Internet Speed requirement will be for the Thinner Client, currently my maximum speed is 40MB/s and BT Openreach have no plans to upgrade high speed fibre in my area I reside in.
thin client means next to everything is loaded from the internet so expect it needs at least a stable Gigabit connection to even smart this. Stable means no intermittens etc.
I really hope that implement a true flight School experience. Will you can start off with ultralights graduate up to light sport and then your PPL and then your cfi and commercial.
If the sim only install the data it needs for individual flights, if we use simbreif or other external flight plans, will this still occur? Or does it only happens if you plan your flight in the in game flight plans?
I have scepticism regarding the scenery quality outside of Europe and North America. When flying at low altitudes over places like Georgia and Armenia, I noticed that the scenery appears to be quite lacking. The autogenerated textures really hamper the realism, which is a shame. In my opinion, it would be more beneficial if Microsoft and Asobo prioritize improving the scenery in other regions before further enhancing the already highly detailed North American and European scenery.
One observation from your video, it might have been a slip of the tongue but they are not generating photogrammetry data using AI. Far from it. The photogrammatry data has to exsit at source I.e. they still need planes to go and collect the data and bring this into the cloud dataset. What the AI does it allow this data to be better represented in the sim. Do you remember before that trees and vegitation were poorly shown as it was included in the photogrammetry, that made what little countryside there was and there was quite a bit of pg in california, a bit ugly to look at, but the AI will tidy all of this up.
TOO SOON I just raked out like 200 bucks on 2020!!! They should be working on that, instead of abandoning all its users and raking in more money!!! They can do all of it in 2020 they just want more money!!! Again, Microsoft abandoning their player base when they promised not to this time!!!

One thing I hope to see in 2024 is a walkaround mode. Or just walking in general. Overall I am very excited for 2024!

Hopefully it no longer takes an hour to update. Even with my 2.5gbps internet and fast NVME, it still takes me forever to update MSFS.
It would be nice to have some new failures such as leaks, fully modeled engine fire and bird strikes, landing gear failure flaps failure etc..
I still am going to wait 2 years before i jump on the hype train. Letting them get their shit in order before i get disappointed.

ATC is one of the big things that would help get people to move from 2020 to 24. They will probably wait till 28 to do it

This or one of the other alternatives such as real live options (Vatsim, PilotEdge, etc) or one of the options as FSHud, BeyondATC or others. But yes it would be nice if they also tackled this issue in '24.

Will we be able to customize the live air traffic? Imagine trying to hop on the sim, just to be told you have to hold short for 3 hours on the taxiway at LaGuardia, then get sent back to your gate😭😭😭

Aslong as all the payware and freeware addons and mods ive got are compatible with 2024 im not complaining. And ill probably will be buying this just for the extra performance so my pc wont turn into an F14 on takeoff everytime i try to land at a busy airport
All of them with very few exceptions will be compatible yes.

Nice! I think my main downside with FS2024 is spending another 120 dollars for a "new" platform. It's really a shame because the new sim looks and sounds amazing from the reports.
And adding another 2 terabytes of storage and possibly more memory. Probably going to have to upgrade cpu and gpu. Oh and buy all new add- ons and airliners. The cost of the new platform will be the least or are worries for most.

Better performance is the one thing I'm looking for. I can live with bad ATC, I can live with random issues, but performance is the one thing. My 40-series Nvidia GPU goes from a solid 100fps to 5 fps and anything in between at random moments. Even when flying at FL400 I can see erratic fps even going as poor as 15fps for no apparent reason. So yes a more stable build would be awesome.

FS2020 is using our systems better than any other simulator does, at least with my system it did. The frame drops could be the simulator not knowing what it needs to draw next, as it might be waiting for cloud data.

Actually I don’t care about the local storage space. That’s dirt cheap these days. Downloading from the internet will always be slower than from local storage. So a bit skeptical about that. All the other features sound like a flight simmer’s dream.

Heard all this hype with 2020. But like a lemming…I’ll buy 2024! Just for the missions alone.
Their 'thinner client' worries me as I can't get more than 76Mbps which is currently fine even supersonic over Manhatten 🙂. Ultra high end PC and what I want is the much improved multithreading. The improved flight modelling should finally give realistic inertia.

Yup they scammed us on 2020. Now they want to put all they promised in 2020 on 2024. Next they're gonna put whatever they promised on 2024 on MSFS 2026 and so on!

Based on what they've said and WHY they've said it they are obviously slightly rattled by the poor initial reception to that original trailer by a section of the community.
I do hope they consider a neofly type career mode that actually works with less jank than exterior addons currently available. Missions are worrhless to me unless there is some sort of dopamine reward and end goals.
I wonder if these missions will be full of cut scenes. I hope not. The skydiving, firefighting and vip transports should all be in real time

Given the average comment here for this video, a lot of people haven't seen anything before it seems. From the "Why" they are going for FS2024 to Addon compatibility. So it seems more videos and explanations are needed

My biggest issue with the current sim is the patchwork look of the terrain that has been stitched together from various images, the colours are also so messed up on ground textures it really kills immersion at times.
Okay i have to admit when i saw the trailer i thought there wasn't any improvement however this video has made me exited.
I how you will be able to hear planes from high up because I tried it with a 747 at 10000ft and went to the ground and I couldn’t he the plane at all.
One thing I notice is missing: airliners. Those, apparently, will have to be downloaded separately . Also, will current weather conditions be able to be downloaded - as it was in FSX?
It takes a lot of faith to believe in performance improvements. That bascially never happens to have a new games that runs smoother than a previous one on the same machine. I want to believe, and I trust Asobo, but if the performance is simply "not worst" I will already be happy.
This "new" sim honestly just sounds like a HUGE DLC they should be releasing and not a new game by itself. I would much rather pay the money for a DLC (with multithreading support) than buy a completely new game.
I'm really loving msfs2020, so missions will add a lot. Just being able to play the game on Xbox, looking good and running stable, is a giant leap.

I hope they have fixed the problems with binding controllers. I really can't trust my controls anymore as they don't work. I have Thrustmaster Airbus, Honeycomb Alpha and Bravo. Few working properly.

I would like to know what minimum Internet Speed requirement will be for the Thinner Client, currently my maximum speed is 40MB/s and BT Openreach have no plans to upgrade high speed fibre in my area I reside in.
thin client means next to everything is loaded from the internet so expect it needs at least a stable Gigabit connection to even smart this. Stable means no intermittens etc.
I really hope that implement a true flight School experience. Will you can start off with ultralights graduate up to light sport and then your PPL and then your cfi and commercial.
If the sim only install the data it needs for individual flights, if we use simbreif or other external flight plans, will this still occur? Or does it only happens if you plan your flight in the in game flight plans?

I have scepticism regarding the scenery quality outside of Europe and North America. When flying at low altitudes over places like Georgia and Armenia, I noticed that the scenery appears to be quite lacking. The autogenerated textures really hamper the realism, which is a shame. In my opinion, it would be more beneficial if Microsoft and Asobo prioritize improving the scenery in other regions before further enhancing the already highly detailed North American and European scenery.

One observation from your video, it might have been a slip of the tongue but they are not generating photogrammetry data using AI. Far from it. The photogrammatry data has to exsit at source I.e. they still need planes to go and collect the data and bring this into the cloud dataset. What the AI does it allow this data to be better represented in the sim. Do you remember before that trees and vegitation were poorly shown as it was included in the photogrammetry, that made what little countryside there was and there was quite a bit of pg in california, a bit ugly to look at, but the AI will tidy all of this up.

All the extra stuff looks ok. But the core mechanics need to be the main focus or they are going to loose their main audience.
TOO SOON I just raked out like 200 bucks on 2020!!! They should be working on that, instead of abandoning all its users and raking in more money!!! They can do all of it in 2020 they just want more money!!! Again, Microsoft abandoning their player base when they promised not to this time!!!
