I love how the song's translation, it's literally the whole point of the battle: Trying to bring back Alumi's memories via a Taiko melody to rescue her from darkness and hatred. ... Yep that sounds about right.
Exactly the theme of the battle interpreted and stylized in lyrics by yours truly. (Also I love your Axel Profile pic from Kingdom Hearts! Axel is hands down one of my favorite characters from the series. His voice played by Fujiwara Keiji aka the dad from Crayon Shin Chan has always “Got Memorized” in my memory since I was a kid and will forever go down in history)
If any boss battle defines the franchise, this is THE battle, a battle of fun vs hatred, a back and forth battle, between you and your brainwashed friend… Lovely translation too!
This is how all final boss battles should be. I love how this was building and reached eventually as part of the story, I mean its simple but very effective, and I think Hikari no Kanata e and the boss battle itself couldnt be splitted, thats what I miss in recent versions of this song in new Taiko for Switch, without the voices of Don-chan and Alumi-chan I dont feel all the intensity of the battle. Appreciate this translation, I always listen to this from where the conversation with the bad guy transforming Alumi into evil, it always get me.
Same, at least it's better than the unlockable version in Wii 2, which cuts out the second verse *though during the intermissions between Verse 1 and Verse 3 there is some charting, which is better than the large gaps of nothing in ~Long Version~*
The crazy thing is that it's the penultimate boss battle, not the final -- regardless, this IS the climax of the game, with the final boss being the conclusion essentially We finally get the final piece of the puzzle to Alumi's origins...and in the end she was meant to be a Waru Mecha. (Though that's changed for the better these days)
Thank you so much, Tanuki Samuel!! I had so much fun working on this project and couldn’t wait to see what everyone thought! Especially about the fan translation!
I've been waiting for this one! This is awesome, especially the way how you made the text move with the characters and included the song lyrics! Ended up singing along- Amazing job Ame!
Namco Bandai really decided that they should be sadists by 1. making this boss very hard as the second-to-last boss (hell, maybe even harder than the FINAL BOSS so that's saying something?) and 2. Make the distraction COVER THE ENTIRE SCREEN like hell so now your eyes can't see everything. Thanks, charters, for making the FC players suffer, we'll see you in therapy Jokes aside, is there a way to play this game for non-Japanese players? Maybe via emulators?
Something else I really find fascinating about evil/Waru Alumi: so you know how most of the Waru Mecha (except Antimon and Tellu) have a W emblem? Alumi's comes in the form of a glowing outline near the top of her head - and then the outline extends across her body! I dunno I just think that looks really cool and helps to enhance the "brainwashed/evil power-up" vibe
As soon as I finished this boss fight, I was really wanting to see what the characters were saying. Sure, context clues and all were easy to figure out, but at least this gives the dialog some more personality, and the animations are really charming, plus making the action more dynamic and flowing more naturally. I wish sometimes they were a bit easier to read ^^; Also, for curiosity’s sake, when Alumi does her circuitry attack, on the colored panels, what do they mean? They look like prompts, kinda like a machine would make decisions on, but I could be wrong. Nonetheless, great job!
The red one translates to "Hate" on the top and "Festival" on the bottom The green one translates to "Like/Love" on the top and "Destroy/Destruction" on the bottom

Love the fact that the subs also jumping just like Alumi that's cute
I do too! That was fun to make!
This is the MOST impressive part of Taiko Wii2! Thanks for the hard working onto the translation!
after nearly 10 years, i finally understand what they were saying...
Side note, that yell at 3:00 gets me every time-
Finally able to understand what did they say during the song... impressive performance on your side too! (FC on HARDEST difficulty?!)
Idk he looked pretty happy when he was beating her up, and then celebrated when he killed her
I like how even when don chan and katsu chan are crying they still smile lmao

Yes! I used to play this game on my modded wii but never finished it due to small song selection
