"On the Internet," one famous comic strip goes, "nobody knows you're a dog." But what are we, online? This hourlong conversation, pegged to the release of Tara Isabella Burton's Self-Made: Curating our Identities from Da Vinci to the Kardashians, would explore what "self-creation" looks like in the age of the internet, from the careful cultivation of the personal brand or the social media personality to the wider transformation in what we think of as "reality." Does the Internet allow us to "lie," or does it challenge us to reimagine truth?
