The Unhasu Orchestra of the DPRK gave a performance before full house at Pleyel Theater in Paris on Wednesday.
The Pleyel Theatre opened in 1927 is one of the modern theatres for orchestra in France.
Enjoying the performance were Frederic Mitterand, minister of Culture of France, the general director of the Radio Broadcasting of France, the former minister of Culture, personages of various strata, music experts of France, people from all walks of life in France, the chief and staff members of the DPRK mission and staff members of various foreign missions in France and Koreans living in different parts of France.
Prior to the performance, the French minister of Culture and the general director of the Radio Broadcasting of France made speeches.
They welcomed the visit of the Unhasu Orchestra to France and introduced it.
In the first part of the performance, the Unhasu Orchestra gave a separate presentation and its second part was devoted to a joint concert with the French orchestra.
Staged in the first part were numbers like orchestral music "Swinging Girl" *, duet of national musical instruments "Vinalon Extending 3 000-ri" **, orchestral music "Attraction", unaccompanied violin solo "Nilliriya" and orchestral music "Sinau".
Staged in the second part were numbers like Symphony No.1 by Johannes Brahms, orchestral music "Arirang" *** and "Carmen Suite".
They sent warm applause to the performers, expressing admiration at the Korean musicians' high level of rendition and conducting skill with deep understanding of the Western music, to say nothing of the national music.
Organizers of the performance expressed thanks to the dear respected Kim Jong Un with broad magnanimity and noble traits who made sure that the excellent orchestra perform in France.
The audience expressed their hope that the Unhasu Orchestra would often come to France to give performances.

idk why the way i express this, first i felt so sad that i almost cried but then it turns to be happy, and then goes sad again. this is such a roller coaster music for me ;')

This world-class violinist, among the best NK had to offer, somehow emerged out of an insane system and then was destroyed by a madman. Sickening, disheartening, horrible. May Mun Kyong Jin rest in peace.

For those wondering, this piece was composed by Camille Saint Seans (I think that’s how you spell it?). I think he somewhat took inspiration from possibly Paganini or Ysaÿe while composing this. I know I’m a massive music nerd

'Executed' North Korean cultural figures have a habit of turning up alive and well later. For example, Mun was reported killed with Hyon Song-Wol. However, Hyon was in Beijing a few days ago as part of the botched Moranbong concert. Stories such as this often come from unverified and unverifiable sources. Not saying that that is isn't true. But at the same time, we've not a single piece of even vaguely reliably evidence to say it is true. The two Koreas are engaged in a propaganda war with each other, and their is deliberate misinformation on both sides. Unfortunately, the global media takes South Korean newspapers and spy agencies as 'the truth'.

For what it's worth, I would guess that the executions of the musicians - if that's indeed what happened - was the work of the Jang Song Thaek faction. Jang and his subordinates committed some horrible, horrible crimes. The performers who were lost were extremely popular. You just don't whack them out and expect people to forgive you. To my way of thinking, this is why Marshal Kim Jong Un opened a can of whip-ass on Jang and anyone associated with him. Jang was in an extremely powerful position and difficult to challenge. With the deaths of these performers, it was all over for him. Jang was arrested in late August or early September, put on trial in December, and shot on December 13, or thereabouts.
