- In this weeks video, we take you on a tour of some of our favourite camper vans at the show. I almost have a heart attack at the prices of the vans and its probably confirmed to me, that if we did ever upgrade to a larger van, I would build it myself because I am a tight Yorkshire Man haha!!
Enjoy this weeks installment and I shall see you guys next week where I venture out to a campsite that I booked the wrong dates for haha!
Stay awesome and above all, be kind...
Those prices are absolutely bonkers!
Being a Yorkshire man myself I agree with you on the prices, it's good to see you out with shell 😊
So love your show. 👌
Great vlog. The 'magic' door uses a magnet to pull the latch out when shut 🙂
Thanks for clarifying... utter wizardry to me 🤣🤣
Great vlog. Silly prices! Nice to see the Boss again!!
Michelle liked that you called her the boss 🤣🤣
We bought our van (T5 .1) in 2016. It was three years old and 70,000 miles. £10500 for the van and £11000 for full conversion. Still going strong at 140k miles and lots of use. (It’s my daily driver) Can’t get my head around spending £90K on one!
Good vid as always Col, bonkers prices. Had a laugh at the upside down pineapple. Off you go home now and give that pampas grass of yours in the front garden a trim 😂.
Thank you for a very entertaining look around the show. We have the Wildax Pulsar 5.4m that Michelle reviewed and we love it. We do have to make the bed up but it’s really quick and very comfortable. We all have our own ideas and non negotiables. 4 seat belts is one of mine. Take care Gill
I thought this too. Campervans £60,000 to £80,000, motorhomes £70,000 to £90,000 and A-Classes £100,000+ Bonkers!
Hi guys cracking video keep them coming please
Those Jorvic vans look lovely, we have just sold all our kidneys for an Adria 600SPB, all grey, no hearing aid beige, I love the Nordic look to it. Thanks for your videos
A campervan is still a van!
I currently have a Transit van or ' day van' coupled with driveaway awning that does the job but I'm definitely cutting out the middle man and going for a small motor home when finances allow. So much more comfort and space! 😎
Prices are stupid now full stop. I considered moving to a bigger van, mine is similar to yours but then I reconsidered. My current van is perfect for a daily, parking is easy, it has enough size inside just no shower or toilet apart from a portapotti but I can live with that rather than spending £££££ for minimal gain.
Great vlog thx guys ❤❤.
Couldn't agree more mate... I love my van ;)
I’ve just bought myself a Peugeot boxer and I’m about to start building exactly what you want 😁. It might take me a year or so but it’ll be much more affordable. And I’m keeping my t5 until it’s done so I don’t rush it. You should get yourself one to build. Realistic dreams 👍
Can't wait to see the build..
It was great to meet and chat to you both at the show. The price of vans is shocking at the moment but it does slowly seem to be creeping down lets hope it continues. We have a 6m ducato (Elddis CV20) which is a cracking van, all be it seems to have gone up £20k in the past couple of years! One quibble I have is the turning circle on the 6m (same on the 6.36m) - the extra space is great but shame it didn’t have a tighter turning as you always get some ‘considerate’ person who’s left their car hanging out of the space opposite where you need to turn driving a 6 point manoeuvre. The Speed leather didn’t look beige, the auto trail seemed borderline beige 😂
The merc cabs are awesome but don’t half come with ££££’s extra nice though - Have a cracking weekend, all the best, David & Rachel 👍
Absolutely fabulous and informative. 🎉
Nice to see Lady M with you again. Give me a shout if you're ever touring down Bawtry way, would be cool to catch up after all these years! :D
I've just made the leap from a LWB T5.1 to a LWB Crafter and the extra space is great. Having a toilet and shower is next level. But if you're a hot young stud like me and you don't have a pre 97 licence I'd watch out for the weight.
Thanks for a great video - lovely to see Michelle again. We’ve got the 2021 5m Wildax Pulsar which is great (used to have VW T6)- no problems except we can’t sleep in it with 3 dogs. Ideally I would love the 6m Wildax Aurora Leisure but OH says no, so instead we are just about to get a 2 year old caravan to tow behind the van (pre campervan we used to have a caravan). Always a compromise somewhere - now if I could get rid of OH……..🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Totally agree these prices are insane!
Id be doing what I’ve done with my T6 and sourcing a van then a mix of my own handwork and a company to do bits 👍🏻
Great video...transporters are now over 100 grand 😮
@ironman8fitnesspl-eire75 crazy pricing isn't it
It is ...I just spent 25 grand converting my 6.1...still works out a 70 grand transporter...world is mad ...us Irish not as tight as Yorkshire chaps though 😂😂
@@ironman8fitnesspl-eire75 Not bad at all, I think I spent that converting mine 5 years ago... Nice one!
If its not free, its too expensive haha!
Wanted to go to the show but had other commitments may be next year nice to see you have let shell out of the house 😂
Haha she's allowed out 3 times a year 🤣🤣🤣
Lovely video ❤😊
Crafter next Colin! We have a transporter with a ushape layout and it’s getting too small for us! Thinking crafter or similar with fixed bed in a few years
Wildaxe must be fairly local to you Colin and they hire out vans as well. They also sell off their hire vans/demonstrators each year. Book if you are going to visit though. We went for a T6.1 California in the end
Prices are insane now they really are... I went Toyota Alphard, camper, £19k and I was crying handing that money over hahaha
Taking the p1SS. For £100k I was all the bells and whistles not some wood and a tin sink! 🙈🤣
Colin check out the Bailey Endeavour N64 we saw it at the NEC show and loved the design. The tambour door around the toilet/shower area is genius to give you more space when cooking
We went from a pop top transporter to a 6m ducato swift select and the difference is night and day, comfort and size, get it done you only live once
Can’t get my head around why a van with an auto box (DSG) is ~£15k more than a manual. 😳
Am gonna miss Jeff... You should raffle him off to us (please) I know if I won him I'd definitely start vloggin properly and do a Yorkshire Pop Top the mini series
Haha Jeff is going nowhere, we love him too much...
Trekker or Trekker X from Swift is looking really good to me at the minute as an upgrade to my Transporter.... I have a hard time moving away from VW though ;(
Don't think the Ford engine is getting good reviews...wet Cam belt engine apparently 😮
Like a kid in a sweet shop with not enough money nice to see but well out of my price range but nice to dream
A big fat no to 70K + for a van. It's just bonkers! We paid 35K for an elldis firestorm motorhme brand new when mum was alive. I can honestly say that the build quality was total pants and we took it back dozen times to Barrons Liesure within its first fortnight for problems with bits falling off- one of which was the kitchen overhead cupboards!!! etc. When it was 3 months old with just 500 miles on the clock, I took it to the garage to fill up for our trip to Cornwall. As I left the forecourt the engine light came on, then another light and another. We were told to take it to Glanden motors in Preston which was our servicing dealer for Barrons. On the way, the taco and then the speedometer went and then it went into uber limp mode. It took me over two hours at 15mph to get to Preston where I managed to park the van. An hour later they came to me to tell me that the van had got a catastrophic engine failure, couldnt be repaired and wuld need a replacement..... and the factory was closed for four months. Elldis wanted me to pay for a trasporter to get it back up to Consett and find a way back home myself. I ended up rejecting the van under the sale of goods act and got the finance company involved. We ended up getting the van I originally wanted from Barrons but couldnt afford for the same price as the firestorm but we were always wary after that. The E465 never let us down but I'd never ever buy an expensive van again. As for living in one full time. TBH no matter what the cost of a new motorhome/camper, they simply arent built to cope with 24/7/365 occupation. They are a leisure vehicle and as we see in many of our fellow youtuber channels who went full time in a van, stuff starts to fail very rapidly. I'm happy with Viv now I rebuilt her. I know exactly whats gone in and I can replace it when and if it goes wrong.Try getting spare parts for a motorhome past its warranty! They can keep their 75-100 k vans and I'll keep my major organs. Brilliant video though guys! Much respect-Kenny
Thanks buddy
.. Bloody hell, that sounds like a right palaver mate! Absolute nightmare, especially after paying 35k - vans are way, too expensive now without doubt.
Oh goodness, did anyone think to warn you about the prices before you got there? If not, what a cruel thing to do to a Yorkshireman 😂😂
It still hurts now 🤣🤣
@@Yorkshirepoptopadventures 😂😂😂
Would have thought you'd do your own conversion Colin
I'll 100% be doing that mate
What about a Crafter or Sprinter sort of size. Anything bigger might not be practical depending where you drive.
If you want extra space but don't want to lose flexibility, parkability, go through McDonalds drive throughs after getting set up on a camp site or easilly park at the shops and still have the use of a daily driver van, that on it's own is perfect for roads like the NC500 and also don't want to sell your internal organs, do what we did. We spent an extra £12k on a 7.5 metre, 4 berth, fixed bed, second hand caravan and £600 on a tow bar for the campervan. We now have ultra flexibility, a daily driver van if we wanted it as that, not be stuck for getting a large van parked out and about and a brilliant large base ( caravan ) to park up at a camp site and set off from. Also you have much more space in a caravan than nearly any van out there and yet still have no parking problems and have a toilet as well as cooking facilities out and about beyond the camp site, with the campervan. You can also leave the camp site immediately, without putting the campervan back into driver mode, if you take the caravan with you. Big vans generally have on board tanks for drinking water and grey water, this means that you have to move the van from your pitch just to fill / empty them, with a caravan you dont. We have found it an absolutely perfect combination. There are compromises with a big van, there are compromises with a small van. We have no compromises apart from towing the caravan, when we want to take the caravan with us, which is easy. The only thing is, you get very attached to the comfort of the caravan.
Another advantage is that the extra weight of a campervan and a front aspect that is only slightly smaller than a caravan makes a campervan a perfect tow vehicle right up to the 60 mph legal limit, with no caravan tail waggle or passing bus or lorry suck affecting your stability and steering as you get, when towing with a smaller and lighter car. As well as this, several of the camp sites you have been to, only allow small campervans, which you could still do solo, with your campervan on it's own.
Nice video and some nice Vans but rip off prices.
To Colin..
If your serious about a longer van - I created a 6.3 metre pop top ( travels x4 sleeps x4 )..
You could travel the world in it ( all boxes ticket ).
Seriously - prob best of it's kind...
Allan
Brill.
when are the crafter conversion videos coming!
Haha not for a looooong time... 😂
Grab a LWB t6, can do your own conversion
That's what I'll be doing mate
I could never justify a van that costs more than my house.
Col, if you guys want a wander around ours (Autotrail fiat ducato) you are welcome to have a look. It's awesome having the headroom, bathroom and room for more jack and coke 🤣 I can pass you a finance company that does 10 year finance too, makes it affordable.
Ah I'd love to look around your van, still can't afford one though, unless your finance company offers buy now pay never 🤣🤣
@@Yorkshirepoptopadventures 🤣 true that. 10 year finance deals though...that's the only way I'm driving one!
Basically how the other half live 😂
100% this mate
Hearing aid beige 😂😂😂
Colin at 3mins 47secs into the video you missed the celebrity that is Max McMurdo in the background in the red check shirt, and beard. He is famous off the telly for his work with George Clarke on modular living including shipping containers and so he must have been linked with that modular van team.
#starstruck
Hey buddy, yeah, we talked to him for ages. Lovely chap and that's why i did a reference to George later in because I know they'll see it 🤣🤣
Hearing aid beige 😂😂
🤣🤣
go and look in some caravans. you have already got an ideal tow vehicle.
We've definately considered this option
At one point, I had to pause the video, and look over my shoulder, because I thought actual George Clarke was in my living room.
No joke!
But if you want a joke....
What's E.T short for?
Because he's got little legs!
Colin how many times did you say ' how much ' ? Because that's what I do looking at some of these prices there nice but oh my days 😂😂
I'm still saying "how much" now 🤣🤣
BTW, you didn’t say how much the coffee cost? 😂
Hahaha probs because I didn't pay for it 🤣🤣🤣
Not sure I could swap my VW T6 LWB for a Fiat but I have seen a few with more permanent layout. I know the VW will last....
My biggest takeaway from this is that I am in the wrong job 🤑💰💸
I think they are hideous prices. The nearly new VWT5 & the T6 I have purchased in the past have been panel vans and I have had them professionally converted to my spec and they have worked out at half the price. The manufacturers are taking the p..s!! There is no van that has the perfect layout so designing your own is the perfect solution.
A lot of the big Mercedes motorhomes need a C1 entitlement on your driving licence. 🤔
Yeah, we'd struggle with anything over 3.5t matey
Pineapple people 🍍😂😂
Talking of beds.... You want a set up bed for that price....?? Why not have one that drops from the ceiling? Made up - up out the way on motor runners? Seen it done in self builds, so.....???😉
I'd also want driving there, a butler, free drinks for life and also the automatic bed 🤣🤣
So nice to see your beautiful wife mate, thought you’d done away with her??😅😅
Dug her up from the patio mate 🤣🤣
Why on earth would you spend £90k! You could get a nice base van for £30k and convert it yourself for £10k, even 20k to be really lavish and still have £40k in the bank 🤦🏻♂️
I completely agree... its confirmed that if we ever did get a larger van, I'd definately make my own
What is the music called in your videos please ❤
Not 100% sure what the tracks are called, they are just in my library of tracks. But they are all from the TH-cam Music Library if that helps
@@Yorkshirepoptopadventures Thanks Mate
Give it another 5 years and they will be half those prices
I thought that, we've just looked at our Facebook memories and one of the Jobl Vans from 5 years ago was 48k - this year it was 75k - - I'm in no rush to upgrade so fingers crossed they'll come down in price
Could you really leave the dubbed life? Got to be a crafter next colin. Just put Mercedes badges on to keep Michelle happy.
I have no allegiance to brand, to me they are adventure stations but the sprinters are way more expensive than the crafters so it will probably be a crafter or a MAN
That’s tan not beige.
£122k for a van is just ridiculous. I can’t see many people buying at that price. When you can buy a second hand van for £20k and put your own stuff in for so much less. It is a lot of work but for them to charge so much for it is ridiculous.
I completely agree...
£122grand far too much silly money!!!
You’ll never get a new van paying £3.95 for a hot chocolate 😭
Haha Michelle bought it with money from her mum 🤣🤣! #freecoffee #tightyorkshireman 🤣🤣
122 even if you lived in it I could justify that price even for the space nah 70k would be max most of the time your outside
I completely agree mate
70k on a FORD transit just for it to let u down the world has gone mad.
And do rusting 🤣🤣🤣
Cloud cuckoo land. Just not worth the price, This is rip off Britain in all it's splendour. Think the dealer analogy is one born every minute. 😊
DO NOT buy an AUTOTRAIL !!!
Interested to know why mate (genuinely interested) let me know bud
The build quality (in my opinion) is sub standard and the aftercare when something went wrong was shocking. I owned a V-Line 670, we traveled the NC500 3 months after we took delivery of the van, while on the trip one of the vanity unit doors fell off. Autotaril told me because it happened after we took delivery and not while it was being delivered it was then not a warranty issue! So not only did i have to pay for a new door and mirror (as they both were damaged) but i waited 10 months for it to turn up, they did make an attempt before that but sent the wrong door! The dealership i purchased the van from has to take some responsibility as well, and i would not buy a tent peg from either of them. At the end of the day i am sure there are horror stories from all manufactures so its down to personnel choice. I now own a Globecar Campscout Elegance, the quality is head and shoulders above the Autotrail but then so is the price! Good luck with your search and keep making the vlogs they are some of the best on here! @@Yorkshirepoptopadventures
