The fact that they have it laying on its side. It is probably eating away at the cork or at least mixing with the cork particles if it is a real cork. Even if synthetic cork it is then mixing with th Bourbon. The best way to store bourbon is to keep the bottle standing upright, unlike wine, which is stored on its side. You should store bottles upright to protect the cork. If the bourbon's high alcohol content is in contact with the cork for an extended period, it will destroy it.
@@alecky1972It ships with a traditional cork stopper. The glass stopper is shipped above the decanter itself to be placed after shipping. Shipping a glass stopper already inside of a bottle is a recipe for disaster
Went nearby last week and got Blanton's at 80, Blanton's Gold at 150 and T.H.Handy for 200. This store is part of the problem. The first thing the kid told me was "we can work with you on any bottle."
I see everyone complaining in the comments about pricing but what I think most people don't understand is that if I sell a bottle of say weller single barrel for $600.00 I know that the person buying it is drinking it instead of turning around and trying to resell it for a profit. selling allocations at a higher price also allows smaller stores like this the opportunity to lower the price on every day sellers like jack daniels and titos because they know they will make the profit up on the allocated bottle.
Dang man. That's a jackpot. Here in kansas it's lame. If a liquor store gets a bottle of eagle rare or blantons in then its only one bottle and it's gone within minutes. I did find a store out in the middle of nowhere here that had a couple of bottles of blantons and eagle rare and the blantons was going for 140 and eagle rare for 80. This place sucks.
Nah. You’ve just got a bunch of store owners barely making ends meet with ca cost of living. They sell a few per year to realize profit. Also, almost every one of these stores are owned by Indians/middle eastern decent people who could give a fuck less about the bourbon community. They just check secondary and put it up for that
I don't know this store in particular, but we have one like it in Houston. It's a small, independently owned liquor store with an absolutely massive museum collection. In our case, it's a store with a reputation for buying bottles off of people and then reselling them. Not legal, but it is what it is.
this store gets it because they probably take every offer their rep gives them on shit stuff like skyy vodka and other stuff, then when allocation time comes around the sales rep offers it to them first because they helped the rep out when they needed it. this is what happens in the store i work at. we have very similar pricing on bottles like that, it allows us to stay low on every day sellers that we dont make much profit on.
There is nothing that changes to piss or shit worth paying a thousand dollars for. Hell, I have a hard time justifying 150.00. But then again there are plenty of people with a lot of expendable income that think otherwise.
It's the double-edged sword. If it's sitting on the shelf, it'll be marked up or part of a bundle. If it's MSRP, it won't be siting on the shelf for long.
Wow those are way overpriced, even the EH taylor line is out of control, i personally wont pay the ridiculous prices some places try to charge. I have found a few good liquor stores owners here in Colorado that dont participate in price gouging. EHT small batch 49.99. Single barrel 54.99. Straight rye 64.99. Elmer T lee. 44.99. Blantons 59.99. The only reason they keep those inflated prices is because fools who dont know better always pay them
People wouldn't price these bottles as high if there weren't those willing to spend that kind of money. Bourbon is running hot.....but all good things come to an end. With rising prices and more inventory coming in the next few years, it will be a buyers market. For now, let the taters have their moment.
Yes I'm sorry about that. The owner looked like he was about to throw me out so I really rushed this vid. I eventually got the permission but didn't want to push my luck and ask to refilm. I'll slow down next time. 👍
When you find a store with prices that overmarked it's a letdown should have stayed at home and just looked at pictures of those bottles on the internet
0:35 Look at that pricing on Weller Antique 107, yes! I'd pull a Jack Ruby on you to get to that at that price point. haha! I cannot walk into any place and find it sitting there, ridiculous price or not. Same with Weller FP! Weller SB and CYPB can just die already, marketing BS so taters can have a "set"!
Yeah that is the funniest part… that whiskey is literally ruined if it has been sitting on its side like that as long as it has and probably will be because it ain’t going anywhere.
Why does this store/ shop looks so cheap, like self-made, unorganized? What is it about those hand drawn price tags? Looks very unprofessional. This wouldnt work in Germany. In a store looking like that I would buy not more than a coke.
cool museum
Accurate. Half the hunt for me is it being MSRP. Not paying secondary from a store. 😅
True. What a shit store

It has a glass stopper.

At least you get to see it there! Around here, all that stuff is squirreled away in managers' offices for raffles and loyalty clubs.
They got em, if you wanna pay for em! Nice museum! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🥃🥃🥃
For those prices it's no surprise why they still have all of that on the shelf.
"store is a hitter" sorry to tell you this isn't a store, it's a museum

Wow what a collection! Some of those you may never see in a lifetime. Keep up the great videos. Love seeing my old stomping grounds.
It’s true it’s way overpriced, but still nice to see, and the availability of some others that were available that aren’t available most places.
The owner shouldn't receive any new allocation from the distributor until he sells some of that ridiculous allocation.
Lottery winners prices or a hell of a retirement bar lineup!
I really enjoy your videos. Thanks for the content
This dude is definitely selling all of these legally

They sell EHT Small Batch for $150.00 and Stagg for $300 where i live so thats a steal for me! lol.
double eagle, right above the half pints of grey goose and pound bags of pipe tobacco
I think that the owner is hoping there’s going to be an earthquake 😂. No way those are ever going to sell.
I love thinking about how much money I’ve saved by quitting drinking.
That McKenna 10 is $30 cheaper in Massachusetts
Bourbon museum
Cool collection there but definitely a museum
Some of the pricing wasn’t horrible I’ve seen a lot worse but most of that really will sit on shelves forever
Yes, alll that S tier stuff will. But its a lot of idiots with money in Cali, so the owner is just banking on just that one. There always is.
@@mrphenom1643
I’m pretty certain placerville is more blue collar and right-leaning for California standards
Ridiculous prices! I Josie $99 for Stagg and $99 for Weller 12.
Those will be on the shelf forever. Hope the owner is happy.
No, they won't 🙄.
If you don't have the money to pay for it doesn't mean the rest can't afford it
With those prices, you wonder who is buying their product? Maybe people buy the regular stuff.
@@carlosc9127 Not sure who is paying those crazy prices. I feel like trying to talk some sense to that owner.

$149 for the 1792 Sweet Wheat. 😂"Gtfoh"

Oh man that does suck! Here in NorCal we have everything but you have to be a lotto winner to afford anything.
I don’t understand how a small store gets all this rare bourbon. I feel like California gets all the goods

Facts!

Way overpriced across the board. That’s why it stays on the shelf
Its kinda crazy seeing stores charge over MSRP. Im happy that our stores dont do it here.
It's the double-edged sword. If it's sitting on the shelf, it'll be marked up or part of a bundle. If it's MSRP, it won't be siting on the shelf for long.
@TexasDevin I'd rather they moved it quickly.
Can’t blame the store for there over inflated prices that’s the secondaries fault. Secondary sucks.

That's bc people FOMO thanks to YTers making bourbon a bohemian lifestyle and oh it's so rare I have to go hunting for it. And the stores know it.
And it’ll be there forever at those prices
Moving way too fast on those unicorn bottles!

A $10000 bourbon sitting on a shelf with no cage. This place is asking to get robbed lmao
no BODY is paying those prices. jesus.

It’s a Bourbon Museum bro
13,000 Lmao yeah he better not recieve any more allocation with his f** up prices
Awesome selection but those prices are ridiculous. dude probably doesn’t sell shit. Probably why he has so many on the shelves still
They aren’t meant for people like you so don’t worry about a bottle you can’t afford
Those bottles will last longer than the cockroaches.
sub thumbs up great video!
Old No.7 21 bucks whoa I wish!
1:14 the rock hill at 275 was the only non super rape price in the joint
Eagle Rare was $54 very surprised.
eht smb for 69.99 is not bad either. I have seen it for way more. its 45-50 msrp, I would pay 69.99 for a eht all day long.
Eth is now a 60 msrp btl
69 99 is a good price
