Amazing video of the Tres Hombres sailing with cargo from Brixham (England) to Brest (France) with 8000 bottles of fine Exeter Ale made ecological and transporter sustainable!
I want to sail, someday, in a engineless sailing vessel like the Tres Hombres. It is my dream. No noise of engines, just the calm of the sea.(Though I totally get the work in a ship like this and the storm danger). And it is my super-dream to be a part of it's crew as well. One might hope, right?
were are you from there are Cargo Sailing projects across the world. England has a newly started one. in Costa Rica we have Sailcargo inc. and their Co² neutral shipyard in construction together with Ceiba a 3mast topsail shooner with electric engine. under sail the draging props power generators allowing for a chilled hold for food transport. on Barbados we have the shooner ruthe wich looks like a oversize Herrenhov (spelling?)Yacht than an actual cargo ship. For Europe we have Nordlys 1873 oldes engineless cargo ship in activ service, the Grayhound Lugger Replica and the Hawila Project (denmark) doing currently it first test sails. TOWT is a French Shiping Company using multiple Vessels. Timbercoasts Avontuur has got a contract with Port Franc doing a yearly trip between Canada and France. Brigantes is a Shooner in restauration for the Med Cecilie a german build Shooner is in restauration as we speak too. The Spirit of Rotterdam a replica of an Tea Clipper will be layed down in a few months and will operate a similar route as Tres Hombress in the Atlanik US included. in the Pacific we have Kwai in activ service suplying remote Islands. from British Columbia a Cargo Sailing Vessel was carted by Sailcaargo inc. doing the PAX Line until Ceiba was Launched in 2020 and the list goes on and on. and an 60feet or 18meter Bermuda Sloop would be an afordable Project too with shallow draft and high speed. after all the L'Hermione was build because some french guys were to drunk from red wine and said we build this thing. Architectura Navalis Mercatoria 1768 by Frederik Henrik af Chapman famous Shipbuilder and Swedish Rear Admiral has over 150 plans from large armed East Indiamans over West India Traders to Sloops and longboats and fishing vessels. Fair Winds and a Nice Day
Cpt. Mirones I live in South Africa.. and also am unable to afford sailing on any of these ships.. besides being unable to go for other reasons.. really like your list though.. didn't the know L'Hermione was built because a bunch of French dudes were drunk 😂😂😂
With the price of fuel what it is, perhaps the time has come for a return to the old tried and true technology. Or maybe I'm just a hopeless romantic. Whichever, I wish the Tres Hombres and he crew fair winds and profitable voyages
Yeah, but 35 ton is hardly more than a full truckload. It's a little over one (1) container you see on those big, ocean going tradeships from nowadays.
I just read this: nu.nl/buitenland/2993140/nederlands-zeilschip-redt-stuurloze-duitser.html This seems to be this ship, this crew. Hats off, great sailing and rescue, guys!

I like it very much. I saw the TRES HOMBRES this summer in France the first time. Hope to meet her again and watch her sailing. Thank you!
She seems to have a tendency to pitch. But an extraordinarily beautiful brigantine.
Not a brigantine, which has at least a topsail on the main mast. She's a schooner brig.
Prachtig mooi Jongens , schitterende beelden

Haha lord of the rings music. Yes.
