I think that the problem is much bigger than farang behaving badly in Thailand alone.
It's more of a problem with children who have never been held accountable for their behaviour and who are now fully grown adults.
I see it here in Australia and other countries in the western world.
If you respect the rule of law of the country that you are a guest, hopefully, things will be OK for you.

As long Thailand was a destination mainly for 50+ years old farangs there was very little problems between tourists to locals. But when 20+ start came to Thailand every thing change and especially those from muslim countries, they use to very strict rules back home. And in Thailand they acting like wild animals. Thailand should become smart with their visas. And see who tend to getting in trouble the most
The guy who kicked the woman on the beach was a multiple business owner. The idiots who attacked the cop was probably on 30 day exempt. All of this happened in phuket. Phuket is the common factor not visa type.

If 'new normal' is defined as tossing foreigners that don't respect the laws and customs of Thailand, I would think that would be ok by most foreigners living here...
Summary: Thailand is enforcing immigration laws. Follow their laws and your fine. Appearance is also considered so don’t look sloppy, dirty or look like a drug dealer or discretion may go against you. Thailand is doing what we wish all western governments would do in our home countries .
Last thing I'm going to do is stress of how I'm dressing up in freakin thailand. You're a joke.

The tourists that are coming to Thailand are not the same kind as before the COVID-19 pandemic. The war in Ukraine is causing many Russians of the age of being drafted into the Russian army to leave Russia. Middle-aged Russians in particular. I am not going to question their intent, but some are not financially able to stay out of Russia without working. Therefore, some will stretch to be able to earn a living.
The rental condominiums in Phuket listed by nationalities show a large number of Russians.

Why does immigration always ask me about having children with my Thai wife? We don't want children! That's one reason we are together!

Like it or not when they changed the weeds laws they invited a new type of tourist to come to Thailand. Its not only weed that people are doing over here now lots of other substances (which is nothing new) but its to more people than before..and when some people get near substances its can make for some bad situations. Im not saying this is all because of the change in weed law, but Ive never heard of tourists turning on police before and Ive lived here 15 years now. Theres also seems to be a lot less respect and manners about these days all over the world.. People come here and think they can walk on water and get away with things they wouldn't back home. Then again you have the Thai police who sometimes do whatever they want to do. What happened to Joe Ferrari?
Weed smokers are not the type of people to start fighting police and disarming them. That’s classic drunk guy behavior.
